Youde Technology Co, based in Shenzhen China, have been involved with the manufacture of re-buildable atomisers for many years now, and have a great reputation for producing low cost but great performing items.
Youde have released both re-buildable tank atomizers, and re-buildable dripping atomizers, at very competitive prices and some of them such as the Goblin and the Igo-L dripper have received excellent reviews and become much loved by vapers all over due to their low cost and great performance.
Today I will look at the Youde Hunter, and see whether this offers the same great performance at a low price as other recent hits from Youde.
Kit Contents
- Youde Hunter RDA with chuff cap
- Spares pack containing o-rings and spare screws
- Drip tip adaptor
The Youde Hunter RDA comes packaged much the same way as the Goblin and Goliath, in a black box with clear window to see the Hunter RDA inside, you may open it up and wonder where all your spares are- they are located at the back of the box!
Youde Hunter Set Up
Definitely give this one a good clean before use! My RDA was visibly covered in machine oil and needed a thorough clean in an ultrasonic cleaner before use.
Once removed from the ultrasonic, I was ready to build the Hunter. Immediately looking at it, with two large airflow slots and four posts present on the deck, I can see that this is one for the cloud chasers! I prepared some Clapton wire for my build, and proceeded to unscrew the post screws ready.
The post holes are nice and big, a trademark of Youde products, so I know that my Clapton coils should fit in with ease! Unscrewing the post screws are where I ran into difficulty though. Three of them were quite stiff, and one of the screws on one of the negative posts I could not remove, no matter how hard I tried. Examining it it looked like the post screw had threaded during manufacture.
Not too much of an issue though, as the Hunter can also be used with single coil builds, as the airflow control can be rotated to block off one airflow slot.
I used 7 wraps with my Clapton build and a 3mm coil thickness, which came in at 0.9ohm. This fit easily into the post holes, I probably could have fitted another Clapton coil on top! Juice well is nice and deep too so I can get plenty of juice in without leaking.

How Does The Youde hunter Perform?
First things first I can’t comment on how the Youde Hunter RDA performs in dual coil mode, due to the threaded negative screw! My opinions here will be based on the performance I experienced when using it with a single coil.
Airflow is excellent, even with just one airflow slot open. The Youde Hunter can certainly blow off some great clouds, I was getting a lot of thick vapour even from just the one coil at 30 watts.
The cyclops airflow slot is massive and with the chuff cap drip tip huge clouds were being exhaled! I think with a dual coil build and both cyclops airflow slots open the vapour production would be even better!
My coils were getting some really good flavour results, as by raising the coil slightly the airflow was coming from underneath the coil and amplifying the flavour of my juices.
Surprisingly for a cloud chasing RDA the flavour was really good, fantastic in fact, and I think the positioning of the airflow slots really help this, as you can get maximum airflow from underneath the coil to get great flavour.
Building coils on the deck of the Youde Hunter RDA is really easy too, there is a lot of space here to accommodate most builds you can think of, and the accommodating post holes make building easy!
Final Review Verdict
Despite the build quality issues with the threaded negative screw, overall I have been really happy with the Youde Hunter RDA.
The potential for blowing big clouds is endless here, it’s set up for the cloud chasers, and the flavour has been surprisingly good, I wasn’t expecting great flavour results but the Youde Hunter delivered them!
Looks wise it isn’t particularly great, the logo on the side kind of ruins it too, but this can be easily polished out.
I would recommend hunting down the Youde Hunter RDA, for the price it offers a complete package in an RDA, flavour and cloud chasers won’t be disappointed by it!
The Good
- It’s dirt cheap!
- Easy to build
- Massive clouds
- Giant airflow
- Single or dual coils are supported
- Deep juice well
The Not So Good
- Poor build quality with my unit
- Covered in machine oil on arrival
- Ugly logo on the side
- Very tight post screws on first use
The RDA for cloudchasing! This is one of my favourite RDA’s. Fits for competitions.
why are the post holes drilled past the cross hole for the coil leg? it makes it difficult to position the coil and cut the leg
