In this review I will be having a bash on a range of E-liquid from You Got E-Juice.
Back in our 2016 Ecigclick Awards the winner of the “Best Value E-liquids” category was You Got E-Juice!
In our 2017 Ecigclick Awards they were nominated and came third in the “Best E-liquid Brand – International” category too!
So as you can see this brand (YGEJ for short) has a lot of fans! Is this justified – well I am going to find out!
You Got E-Juice are a USA company who make their own liquid in the USA. They are also available in TPD compliant bottles in the UK and Europe.
The liquids are a 70% VG and 30% PG blend.
For an explanation of VG and PG in E-liquids read here.
I was sent 5 different flavours to try:
- Pumpkin Cheesecake
- Apple Juice On Ice
- Strawberry Rice Crispy Treat
- Lemon Cheesecake
- Egg Tart Custard
The range has 3 nicotine strengths to choose from – 0mg (zero nicotine), 3mg and 6mg.
The bottles I was sent have standard screw caps with a protective foil/paper seal. You remove the cap and seal and then add the spout caps which were also included in my package.
The bottles are also available in short fill style so you can add nicotine shots as you wish.
So I grab my trusty Kaees Aladdin RDA, plenty of muji and get wicking and tasting!
There is a slight difference to this review – I gave up smoking 6 weeks ago and my taste buds are really doubtful – even my own E-liquid is tasting strange – so for this review I also sought the opinion of my glamorous assistant – Jamie – so you will see what he thinks too.
Pumpkin Cheesecake
0mg Nicotine Strength
You Got E-Juice say…
“Old-fashioned cheesecake infused with delectable pumpkin filling that will remind you of going home for the holidays.”
I say….
There is a massive cakey whiff when you open this bottle so this is promising.
This is a very musty tasting liquid, something I am finding quite unpleasant sadly.
I have no idea what Pumpkin Cheesecake should taste like and can’t believe there are people who would put a vegetable like a pumpkin in a cheesecake? Why not go the whole hog and throw some sprouts and tripe in too?
What happened to raspberry or blackcurrant cheesecake – nice yummy things – but pumpkin?
I have had about 6 vapes on this and I am really sorry I can’t face any more.
It will have to get low marks for the sheer unpleasant taste and combination of pumpkin and cheesecake.
Jamie says….
He doesn’t like this at all. He gets a predominant pumpkin flavour and very little of the cheesecake. Phew I wasn’t the only one to find this idea pretty revolting! He rates this one 4/10.
Apple Juice On Ice
3mg Nicotine Strength
You Got E-Juice say…
“An inhale that tastes just like a juicy red apple straight from the fridge, with an exhale that’s icy and refreshing.”
I say….
Phew I am so pleased to report this one smells gorgeous – proper apple smell – yay!
This is applely (is that a word – it is now!) but really heavy on the menthol. Almost too much as it covers up that beautiful apple flavour.
But this is the best of the gang and does match the description.
Jamie says….
“This is really minty! I’m not sure about it! It’s not unpleasant. But maybe a bit too much menthol”. Jamie gave this 6/10.
Strawberry Rice Crispy Treat
0mg Nicotine strength
You Got E-Juice say…
“The sweet, chewy marshmallow snacks from your childhood, infused with fresh, ripe strawberries.”
I say….
Ok opening this the smell is a mixture of strawberry and feet. I kid you not – so not looking forward to this…
It isn’t nice really – but I will say in its defence it does taste of rice crispies – just without any sugar on.
So the rice crispy bit is totally accurate but I really dislike this flavour – sorry guys – not much of the strawberry when you vape this and I still just can’t get over that smell which is worse when the liquid is heated.
This is a really dry sensation, like it has soaked up every bit of saliva you have ever produced and leaving you at risk of dehydration.
Feel awful being so critical but I am not enjoying this. However I have rated it at 6 points because the rice crispy element is definitely there.
Jamie says….
He isn’t keen on this one – however he says “it tastes a bit like strawberry and rice crispies but more like a strawberry cream biscuit. I couldn’t vape that all day! 5/10”.
Lemon Cheesecake
0mg Nicotine strength
You Got E-Juice say…
“A zesty lemon experience with a delicious, rich and creamy cheesecake.”
I say….
Again another savoury musty smelling liquid?
Where is the lemon smell and the sweetness?
More of the same vaping this, the musty savoury taste, hardly any lemon.
Why don’t YGEJ do sweet desserts? Ones that people want to eat?
I will say you do get some of the flavour of a cheesecake base with this – so that is worth a few points. Shame the lemon has gone AWOL?
Jamie says….
Jamie likes this – however he does agree the biscuit base is the predominant taste and the lemon is weak. He was super impressed how well the biscuit comes through but did say it got sickly very quickly. He rates this one 6/10.
Egg Tart Custard
3mg Nicotine strength
You Got E-Juice say…
“Commonly known as a Portuguese Egg Tart, this flavour encases a warm and flaky dessert that is filled with a smooth delicious custard.”
I say….
This is the one I was dreading the most.
My mom likes Egg Custard, I have never ever seen the appeal, I detest cold custard and Eggs so it is a combo of two things I would never like to see put together…
However at least this one doesn’t smell musty so that is a start.
This has a hint of lemon and a weird sour note I can’t quite describe. There is some nutmeg in here too. I get a very slight cinnamon too.
This isn’t nice however is slightly more palatable than some of the others I have tried so far. Plus this one is nearer the description.
Jamie says….
Jamie really liked this E-liquid he said he could taste caramel, vanilla and nutmeg. He gave this 8/10.
Final Verdict
I feel really awful as I am very grateful to You Got E-Juice for sending these liquids to me.
However, to me, the range has to be some of the most unappealing desserts there are.
If I was eating out and these desserts were on the menu – apart from the Lemon Cheesecake I wouldn’t order any of them – let alone buy the E-liquid version.
My idea of desserts would be sweet, indulgent and make you smile. Lots of yummy things like chocolate, caramel, sweet fruits and berries. But these liquids seem to be focusing on desserts which to me are not any of the above.
Are these an American thing – are almost savoury desserts a thing in the US? Here I like sugar and chocolate and warm and gooey.
I will however add the YGEJ have a massive range of flavours so I might just have been unlucky with the range I was sent. Plus this brand have a lot of fans hence why I have been so puzzled as to not enjoying these liquids. I even got a friend to give me a second opinion in case I have something wrong with my taste buds!
A couple of these were not nice at all and I am struggling to get the smell to clear out of my RDA.
