The Wismec Tinker kit is the latest in the Reuleaux line up. The Reuleaux Tinker comes as a tri-cell 18650 Mod offering a massive 300w output and the kit also includes the Wismec Column Tank.
The Wismec Tinker mod has been designed to represent a Nike Basketball Shoe. Looking at them both side by side, I would say they have pulled the look off pretty well indeed.
Can the Tinker follow on from successful Reuleaux mods such as the RX Gen 3 Dual and RX2 21700? Read on to find out more..
I received the Wismec Reuleaux Tinker Kit in Blue as you can see from the image above. The kit does come in two other colours.
The Tinker kit was sent to me for review. As always, I will give you my own, honest opinion of this product after a lengthy testing period.

Design and Build Quality
Wismec Reuleaux Tinker
As soon as you take the Wismec Reuleaux Tinker out of the box, you are instantly hit by how well built this Mod is. I cannot emphasise enough how sturdy this device is, but, at the same time, remain sleek looking.
Ok, some might say “WTF” is this design. Admittedly, it may be an acquired taste but personally, I rather like it. Whether is looks like an American Basketball Shoe or not (and they have got that pretty spot on) I think it looks pretty cool and a different look to the “norm”.
In The Hand
The mod sits in the hand very well and despite the large feel it’s very ergonomic. You feel that if you dropped this Mod onto a piece of concrete, you would crack the concrete before you would chip or break the Mod itself, it is that sturdy.
The device itself is finished very nicely, no sharp corners or awkward protruding edges and zero rattle.
Fire Button
The Tinker can be very easily fired using your thumb or finger depending which way round you hold it and the button stands out easily enough to recognise.
The fire button does not need a lot of pressure to fire, though, you can only fire the Mod from pressing the bottom of the “light switch” designed button.
OLED Display
You get a 0.96 inch colour display. It sits quite neatly on the front of the device and it is a very vibrant colour display. It is easily viewable in direct sunlight which makes a very refreshing change against some devices of late.
Menu System
The menu system, despite being quite in depth is very simple to use.
- A quick three clicks on the fire button brings up Mode, Set, info and exit.
- Clicking on Mode and you are greeted with Power, TC, TCR and RTC.
- Clicking on each of these options brings up their own customisable options. Certainly enough variation for everyone.
- Clicking on the Set option brings up Coil, Power, Stealth and Subpara, Clock, Preheat and Timeout. Clicking on each of these options, again, brings up each individual settings.
- The last setting you can choose is info. This menu setting will give you battery info (Voltage from each individual battery). Version, giving you the hardware and firmware versions.
Great design, great feel.
Battery Door
The battery door on this Mod is easily opened with a slide outward, dropping down to reveal the battery bays. Once the batteries are inserted, a slight push up and push back and the battery door is firmly closed again.
One thing I will say is that I found the polarity markings on the device door, for me, were quite hard to see in dimply lit conditions. Certainly, if you have even slightly sight issues, you may struggle.
Wismec Column Tank
The Wismec Column Tank is a nice looking Tank and compliments the Tinker Kit very nicely with it’s matching colour ways. The Tank is your standard, as I call them, “Plug and Play”, screw in coil.
Changing the Coil
To insert the coil into the tank, simply screw in the coil to the bottom part of the Tank, place the tank section over the base then simply screw the top part of the tank down.
How To Fill The Column Tank
Filling the Wismec Column Tank couldn’t be simpler. Slide back the top cover at the arrow until the cap goes back no further. Once the cap is slid across, you will be met by a sizeable slot to pour your e-liquid in.
The performance from this Tank is good, it doesn’t break any records though. It’s a run of the mill Tank with good flavour and average cloudage. It is, however, very easy to use.
How does the Wismec Tinker Perform?
From the get-go, I was expecting the Wismec Reuleaux Tinker to be a good performer and I certainly wasn’t let down. From the design to the performance of the device, I can not fault it at all. The menu system is very responsive and clear, the display is visible in any lighting condition which is very refreshing.
Flavour and Vapour Production
The coil that comes with the tank provided is rated at 0.15Ω. I have constantly vaped at 65W though I feel, if pushed a little more, the coil may burn out.
I wasn’t blown away with the flavour though I certainly wasn’t disappointed from a stock coil tank. The flavour produced was good. The cloud production from the tank was average.
Again, you’re not going to win any cloud competitions with it but you will draw attention to yourself if out and about with it.
Wismec do state that the device can be charged via a USB cable from a PC or wall socket but they also state that it is better to take out the cells and charge them via an external charger. Using an external charger would certainly be my advice and only to use the USB cable to charge the batteries in emergencies.
Pros
- Superb build quality
- Good Flavour
- Clean menu system and easy to navigate
- Quick firing Mod
- Ergonomic for the size
- Very good battery life
- Upgradable firmware
Cons
- Debatable portability
My Final Thoughts
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Wismec Tinker kit. It’s debatable about the design and the basketball shoe look but I haven’t minded it at all.
The device is very responsive and has a very clear menu system enabling you to also set the device up to meet your own personal vaping needs.
It is a great Mod, good looks with excellent battery life as you would expect from a tri-cell device.
In conclusion, if you are on the look out for a nice looking, sturdy device that will survive a knock and fall, you would do well to look further than the Wismec Tinker.
