Rugged mods are few and far between on the vaping scene. The most popular would be the Geek Vape Aegis Range. But now we have the Wismec Active Box Mod!
On first looks, the Wismec Active is an 80w, 2100mAh internal battery device with all the usual firing modes. But hidden behind its rugged looking exterior and grilles is the functionality to use it as a Bluetooth Speaker. And I can tell you something, it works really well!
The Wismec Active Kit comes with the Armor NS Plus tank and is available in three different colours, but you can purchase extra skins in a variety of colours if you wish to personalise the device a little bit more!
This device was sent to us for the purposes of this review. As always, my opinions are honest and my own.

Design and Build Quality
Amor NS Plus Tank
Drip Tip/Top Cap:
The drip tip is 510 sized and made out of a cloudy grey plastic.
Top Fill Port:
Pushing the cap to one side opens up the filling port. You can locate where to push by finding the arrow on the top cap.
It is a big enough size to accommodate most bottle nib sizes.
Tank Glass:
With my version, I got the 4.5ml bubble glass (non-TPD version)
On closer inspection, the glass is actually plastic whicc is likely to fit in with the rugged theme. Having said that, I would be careful when using citrus and menthol based e-liquids, just in case it cracks.
The Airflow Base:
On the base we have the airflow control ring. It is very smooth to adjust, but has the right amount of stiffness to not let it adjust whilst it is in your pocket or bag. The airflow holes come in the form of two large cyclops slots that have 3 different holes inside. In between the airflow slots is some aggressive knurling to help grip the airflow.
On the base there is some Wismec Branding.
Amor NS Plus Tank:
Overall, the construction and look of the Amor NS Plus tank is pretty good! I personally would have rather see a glass tank section rather than plastic one, but my one hasn’t had any issues with citrus or menthol flavours… YET.
The Wismec Active Mod:
510 Connector:
At the top of the Wismec Active we have the 510 connector which is offset towards the fire button side it has as stainless steel surround as well as a gold plated, springy positive pin.
The Front & Back of the Device
On the front of the Active Mod we have a fire button at the top, an LED screen in the middle and the +/- buttons as well as the charge port beneath a rubber bung.
Next to the micro USB port is a reset button, just in case you would like to reset it back to factory settings.
The screen is so simple and easy to read. Which is the main thing I like about this device.
On the back of the Active Mod there is the Bluetooth buttons for controlling your audio as well as pairing with your chosen device.
You can also add the included carabiner clip if you wish to hook the kit to a belt or a bag!
The Sides:
On the sides of the Wismec Active we have the speaker grilles. On one side there is the big speaker, on the other side is what looks like a smaller microphone port. Quite possibly for making and receiving phone calls through the device.
The outside of the Wismec Active is surrounded by a silicone protector which is there to take the brunt of any dings that it may get. These are removable just in case you wish to customise yours for a different colour.
How Does The Wismec Active Kit Perform?
Amor NS Plus Tank Coil Performance
WS01 Triple 0.2Ω Coil (40-80w)
This is the direct lung coil included inside the kit, and I have found it best to be vaped at around 48 to 66w depending on what e-liquid you are using
Flavour and cloud production from the get go is pretty good, but it does diminish over time and I have got about 7 days out of this coil
WS04 MTL 1.3Ω Coil (8-14w)
This is the mouth to lung coil included inside the kit, and I have found that this is best at around 10w. I would personally recommend e-liquids around 50/50 to allow the coil to wick efficiently.
The flavour and cloud production from the WS04 isn’t anything to write home about for me personally, but it would be acceptable for MTL vapers.
The Wismec Active Mod:
Overall, the mod is quite nice! it fits nicely in the hand, it isn’t massively heavy and most of the buttons are in the right place!
The one thing that bugs me about the design of the Wismec Active is the location of the fire button. I feel that it would have been better located where the carabiner clip attaches. The thumb rests on that section of the mod a lot better than it does on the front.
As for the speaker, no complaints. For the size of the device it performs a treat. I will be updating the review with it’s durability soon!
Battery Life
Another thing that I would like to note is the battery life. The 2100mAh internal battery has lasted me on average about three quarters of a day at 50w using the WS01 Coil. I personally would expect an internal battery device to last me AT LEAST a whole day.
Pros
- Looks and feels good
- Easy to use
- Well constructed
- Good flavour
- Rugged
- Nice sounding speaker
Cons
- Battery life
- Fire button could be better located
Final Review Verdict
Overall, I think the Wismec Active is a nice and handy little kit!
Yes, there are a few points that I would like to see rectified, but as it stands, it is a nice kit to use when you’re out and about!
PLUS, the Bluetooth speaker absolutely rocks! =D
I really wanted to love this vape but the day i bought it i realized it doesnt fire about 1 out of 10 times and the bluetooth disconnects every time i press play on a video.. So now wismec wants me to pay them to send them my mod that was broken the day i got it..i read on forums that most who have bought it have this problem and that if the next one the send is broken as well they will not replace it.. For some reason it doesnt give the option for me to rate on this page but if it did id give it the lowest i could.. Only the tank is useful the rest of it is garbage..
