WHO Ignores Vaping On World Cancer Day – Again
Once again the WHO ignores vaping on World Cancer Day despite lung cancer being one of the biggest killers in the world.
And as if to rub salt into the wound, the WHO has re-appointed the tzar of anti-vape groups – Mike Bloomberg – into a 3rd term as the WHO Global Ambassador for Noncommunicable Diseases and Injuries…
*sighs* More on that in a moment…
OK, and despite all the fake news and science, vaping is still 95% safer than smoking and nicotine is NOT carcinogenic, and there’s NO link whatsoever to cancer and vaping, indeed vapers lungs are proven to significantly improve.
Blink and you might have missed the World Health Organisation’s World Cancer Day – it fell last Wednesday but I decided not to feature it in the Midweek Vape News.
Childish maybe, however, and given the WHO steadfastly maintains its arrogant anti-vaping stance, I deemed it appropriate not to mention it.
In the WHO’s own words cancer derived from lit tobacco makes up 25% of all cancers world wide, with 186 million people using it in some form or another. In real figures that’s over a quarter of the world’s adult population…add in the kids and it’s even higher.
A recent ‘fact sheet’ from WHO Europe has the gall to say:
The good news, however, is that lung cancer is largely preventable and almost 9 out of 10 cases can be prevented if current smokers quit.
The benefits of quitting tobacco are almost immediate.
After just 20 minutes of quitting smoking, heart rate drops.
Within 2–12 weeks, circulation improves and lung function increases. Within 1–9 months, coughing and shortness of breath decrease.
After 10 years of quitting smoking, the risk of lung cancer falls to about half that of a smoker.
These are undoubtedly strong arguments for making tobacco control a priority among the risk-factor reduction strategies for cancer.
No…mention…of…vaping…that is PROVEN to be the safest and BEST way to quit smoking…things that really do make you go ummm?!?
Ignoring Vaping Is “Shameful and Bordering On Criminal”
The WHO continues to be shameless in it’s killer anti-vaping stance and news broke this week that anti-vape zealot Mike Bloomberg is once again a WHO Global Ambassador.
Regular readers will know that Bloomberg – who I deemed the imminent gris of the anti-vape groups, has poured billions of dollars into the eradication of vaping.
I might have to change that label given he’s now firmly out from behind the scenes…but he’s still very much the anti-vape puppet master.
So, with that guy continually spouting BS about the dangers of vaping – whilst funding a none vape device er vape device known as the Hale [see link above] – and of course funding some of the WHO’s tobacco control and research, don’t expect the WHO to embrace life saving e-cigarettes any time soon.
Quite simply, it’s shameful – disgusting and bordering on criminal for the WHO and its cohorts to be so blatantly continue to NOT support vaping as a life saving healthier alternative.
NZ Flavour Limit Fight Goes On
Wider availability of flavoured e-liquids could be limited to just 3 in regular retailers if New Zealand’s recent vape bill goes unchallenged.
Vape advocates are now calling on the countries vapers to get involved saying limiting the sale of flavours will hinder the government’s hopes for the ambitious Smokefree 2025 initiative.
Unlike neighbours Australia, vaping is legal in New Zealand, however the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products (Vaping) Amendment Act 2020 – left the door open for bans under any other name.
The legislation means none vape specialists shops can only sell mint, menthol and tobacco flavours, and the Aotearoa Vapers Community Advocacy says this will stop smokers turning to vaping and leave many vapers high and dry.
Nancy Loucas, co-director of AVCA said flavours were key:
We believe the proposal to limit flavours is counter to the views of experts – the Ministry of Health and Hapai Te Hauora – and will not help achieve Smokefree 2025…
We know vapers quit smoking with fruit and dessert flavours, not tobacco, menthol, or mint flavours, as they are not looking for a cigarette taste but to move away from cigarettes.
Having only tobacco, mint and menthol available in rural localities with no access to bricks and mortar specialist vape shops will limit the success of those smokers, and current vapers, to become and stay smokefree.
The very people with the highest smoking rates, who suffer the most harm from smoking, are wildly disadvantaged by the restrictions put forth, to combat a ‘youth epidemic’ that does not exist in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Calls To Regulate Vaping In Malaysia
Despite being a multi billion dollar industry, the Malaysian vape industry is still unregulated but that could be about to change.
My math is crap, but the Malaysian Vape Chamber of Commerce says it is currently worth RM2.27 billion – my guestimate is that equates to around $80billion or £40billion…let’s just say it’s huge!
The country’s vape industry employs over 15,000 people with almost 3,500 businesses and is home to many of the high end vape gear companies.
Now the Chamber of Commerce says it is obvious how the industry is adding to the growth of the country, adding:
The Malaysian vaping industry has significant potential that can be unlocked with practical and comprehensive regulations that must include the use of e-liquids with nicotine.
There’s around 1.12million vapers in Malaysia and with nicotine based e-liquid responsible for 97% of sales – expect a vape tax sooner rather than later lol…
Saying that, let’s hope the Malaysian Government doesn’t become influenced by the anti-vape mob…stranger things have happened…
Australia’s New Vaping Advocacy Group Launched
With nicotine deemed illegal and available on prescription only down under, a new group made up of retailers has been launched in a bid to fight the crazy law.
The new committee is an offshoot of the National Retail Association [NRA] and is headed by Jeff Rogut, former CEO of the Australasian Association of Convenience Stores, and who’s been fighting for the rights of shop owners for years.
He says the recent ruling deeming nicotine and products prescription only is illogical given Aussie vapers can buy from abroad
The new committee will begin lobbying the government pointing out the current laws opens the doors for black marketeers:
Vaping is one of those things that has grown in popularity and there are an estimated half a million consumers of vaping products in Australia.
The issue is that nicotine is an illegal product and cannot be sold by retailers, and we’ve recently seen the shortsightedness of the government in not allowing convenience stores, tobacconists or anybody else to sell it.
They are looking at restricting that to pharmacies, which we are lobbying quite fiercely against.
They’re making all of this legislation and regulations without fully understanding the full impact of their decisions.
As we have seen with tobacco, the harder you make it and the more expensive you make it, you drive the products underground.
The danger for the government is that consumers will move to buying these products from the criminal elements and the ‘black market’ importers, as we have seen happen with tobacco products, and they won’t know what the product is or what it contains.
Yes, it might be cheaper and easier to get but from a health point of view it might do more harm than good, and that is the shortsighted thing that the government appears to have overlooked.
Wise words and the more the merrier fighting for vapers rights in Australia.
UKVIA ‘Share Your Quit Smoking Story’ For Vapril
It might not feel like it, but spring is around the corner and the UKVIA needs your quit smoking via vaping stories.
The vaping industry advocacy groups wants consumers to take part in this year’s UK Government’s VAPRIL campaign.
VAPRIL is backed by Public Health England and the NHS and calls for smokers to make the switch to vaping throughout the month of April.
The campaign has run for 3 years and a staggering 72% of smokers say they have switched or quit because of it…amazing!

and finally…JUUL ‘Dogged’ By Cloning Lawsuit!
Vape giant JUUL has been dogged by controversy seemingly from day one…
And yet another lawsuit has been filed against the company that in dog years isn’t even one year old…
Nope, I haven’t gone barking mad…yet…
It’s the curious case of the UK owner of a pet cloning patent that says JUUL was “wilful and egregious” over its “key vapour delivery system patent…”
In other words, UK billionaire and serial entrepreneur Alki David claims JUUL ripped him off…ummm that claim might come back and bite them…
Mr David recently acquired a number of patents including the ‘identical cloned dogs‘.
Indeed Mr David recently cloned his much loved Doberman dog named Stella.
The lawsuit collars JUUL for substantial damages AND that it ceases use of the ‘patent’.
A spokesman for JUUL said:
We will vigorously defend our intellectual property in this matter as innovation is at the heart of our commitment to provide non-combustible alternatives to adult smokers and restrict access to those under age.
Lol – this story really does take the biscuit…ahem…
Expect a real dog fight in the courts over this one once the big dog lawyers are let off the leash…
