The VooPoo Drag Baby Trio is from a brand that has been under a lot of fire in recent months, mainly due to some dodgy decisions by their marketing team. But that’s another story and one to learn from for this relatively new company to the vaping scene.
We’re here to talk about product.
Its impossible to refuse VooPoo have made some excellent products, the Drag Series has arguably been their best series of vape devices, the original 157w Drag, the upgraded Drag 2 and the Drag Mini have been big sellers.
With their resin panels, and slick styling, its clear to see why VooPoo have done so well.
What Can We Expect From The Drag Baby Trio by Voopoo
Somehow though, I’ve managed to dodge VooPoo up to this point, so I was really excited when the Drag Baby Trio Kit came through the door.
The Drag Baby Trio Kit is a teeny tiny system offering coils for both Mouth to Lung (MTL) and Direct to Lung (DTL) vaping and of course keeps the familiar style we are so used to from the Drag Series. So its fair to call this kit an AIO (All-In-One) system.
I received the ‘Ultra Violet’ version of the Baby Trio Kit – So let’s crack on and see if this makes our best small vape mod list!
This Kit was sent to me for the purpose of review. All views and opinions are solely those of my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of others.

Design and Build Quality
Standing only 102mm tall when all put together, but looking like a Dual 18650 setup from a distance, this is a striking little bit of kit. The Baby Mod looks chunky and well build, and the Baby Tank follows suit.
In the Hand
Im kind of confused, its hard to explain but because of its style (Looking like a Sub-Ohm Tank & Dual 18650 Setup) it really throws you off when you first pick it up. It really does feel like something out of Honey I Shrunk The Kids!
You can practically palm the whole device which I think is ace, and the fact its made mostly from Aluminium makes it feel solid, and very well built. Nothing squeaks or creaks and its fairly comfortable, even with its ‘box-like’ angular design.
The resin panel on one side has a slight texture to it as well which is nice.
Personally I wish it was a little taller, so that the fire button could be higher up, which would suit my hands a little better, but then again I’m 6ft 4 so perhaps I’m not best suited to this kind of mini vape mod.
Nonetheless Its fairly comfortable firing using either your thumb, or index finger.
Round The Neck
Yes – Round the neck. The VooPoo Drag Baby Trio comes with a Chain Necklace which of course you do or don’t use depending on how bling you’re feeling that day.
Fortunately the Baby Trio isn’t too weighty, so having it dangling on your chest all day isn’t going to give you neck or back-ache, and the chain is long enough that I didn’t have any problems.
I suppose its a convenience thing, but personally I felt a little silly having it swinging around all day. But that didn’t stop me from wearing it anyway.
The quality of the chain is very good, I think they’re putting out limited numbers of the chain, around 500,000. So hopefully yours will come with one. If it doesn’t, don’t feel too disheartened as I think generally, the device is a little on the large side to be swinging around whilst walking or going about your daily duties.
The Baby Tank
The tank doesn’t really have much to shout about with regards to its design, apart from the ‘Push-Fit’ coils which you’ll be able to see more on, further down the page.
But its a solid feeling Stainless Steel tank in all honesty, the threading on the top is nice and smooth and even though the Drip-tip is non removable, or replaceable – Its comfortable on the mouth and doesn’t get hot or anything like that!
The tank doesn’t have the usual 510 connection at the base, but rather a larger threading that connects to the mod, leaving the coil itself to make the connection with the Mod.
Unusual but its worked very well and has always fired on demand.
Fitting/Replacing the Coil
Firstly, make sure the tank is empty, or as close to empty as you dare take it. Next unscrew the tank from the mod and you’ll see the coil protruding from the base of the tank.
Simply pull the coil out using whichever fingers you can get around the coil.
Make sure you give the coil a little bit of juice before fitting (prime your coil), then fit the replacement and screw the tank back onto the mod.
Filling the Tank
Once all back together, unscrew the top-cap anti-clockwise, which will leave you with 2 small filling holes with small silicon gaskets, pop your desired e-liquid bottle nib into a hole and squeeze away.
Once complete, Screw the top-cap back on clockwise and let the tank rest for 5-10mins to allow that cotton to soak up the e-liquid. Simples.
How to Operate
Theres no settings to worry about with this kit, just simply 5 clicks to turn the device on, 5 clicks to turn the device off. The battery life is indicated via the tiny Led just above the USB port.
- Green means your battery is more than 60% full
- Blue is 60-20%
- Red basically means its time to charge the Baby!
How Does the Voopoo Baby Trio Perform?
I’ve had this thing hanging off my neck for the past few days, I almost feel like I’m chained to it. But fortunately its performed well in general. Lets break it down a little.
Flavour & Clouds
The 0.6Ω Mesh Coil
For this coil I was mainly vaping on The Rochford Project – Black Vine which is a 70VG, 30PG e-liquid, and the coil wicks perfectly. Even with the most hardcore chain-vape. The coil soaked up the juice no problems at all.
And what a little cloud machine!
This coil chucks some lovely little clouds, and the flavour is really impressive for such a small bit off kit. It was a little unexpected at first but it really does produce good flavour, and nice vapour production.
No its not going to win any cloud comps, but for what it is, you get a nice feel on the throat and a dense thick vape.
The 1.2Ω Ceramic Coil
For this coil, I was mainly vaping on Pod Salt – Blackcurrant Menthol. A 20mg 50VG/50PG e-liquid which I use quite often as its got a nice hint of sweet blackcurrant and follows through with a subtle bit of koolada.
As expected, the vapour production does go down to whats typically expected of any Pod system, and the flavour too – But its still a satisfying vape.
Airflow
Airflow for the tank isn’t adjustable, but is controlled by the coil itself, the 0.6Ω Mesh Coil has a much larger airflow slot on either side in comparison to the 1.2Ω ceramic coil.
So its fair to say that the 0.6Ω Mesh coil is your Direct-To-Lung coil, and the 1.2Ω coil is for your Mouth-To-Lung Vaping.
The 0.6Ω coil however its still quite restrictive, so lets call it a Restricted DTL Coil which most of these hybrid type devices actually offer.
The 1.2Ω ceramic coil gives you a much tighter draw in comparison, however still a little airy. But you do get a fairly decent MTL draw, just a little loose for my liking.
Battery Life
Simply put, using either coil, for DTL or MTL vaping. You should expect the device to last a day. With the MTL 1.2Ω coil however, you can push that to 2 days, if you’re a little more scheduled with your ‘Vape Breaks’.
Either way I’m very impressed and the 1500mAh battery is more than capable of lasting no matter how much you vape.
Charging
The kit comes with a Micro USB cable, and is stated at being charged in 1.5hrs. And thats pretty much true to its word.
Pros:
- Great flavour with 0.6Ω Coil
- Battery Life for Dayyyssss
- Nicely styled
- Built extremely well
Cons:
- Arguably a little ‘airy’ for MTL
- Arguably a little ‘Tight’ for DTL
- May not be comfortable for larger hands
Final Verdict
Quite simply, this device won’t be for everyone, its not a typical slender pod system, and its not a hard hitting 200w monster mod with smoke machine attachment. But it does serve a purpose.
It would be ideal for a night out, and at the same time is discreet enough to use whilst watching a film at home.
There’s a number of features that I look at when trying out a device, and for something to score highly, it needs to meet certain demands.
‘Would this device be long lasting and still work 3, 6 or even 12 months from now?’
Yes absolutely, the coils seem to last quite well, battery capacity is decent, and even over time, there is still plenty of battery power to spare so I can see this device lasting well in the right hands.
Does this device deliver the flavour, vapour and general experience I require, in order to be enjoyed?
In MTL mode, although a tiny bit loose on the draw, it delivers everything I would expect
In DTL mode, it performs miles better than expected. As to be expected, still no comparison to my favourite Sub-Ohm tank or the best RDA in my collection. But very good for a small, portable AIO system
Is this device versatile to suit a new vaper, and an experienced one alike?
This Kit will work pretty well for a new vaper, its simplicity and style will catch the eyes of some, whilst the vapour delivery and flavour will catch the rest.
Its not something I think that an experienced vaper would be interested in for every day use. However, it’s good for the choice moments when your pockets are already full and you just need something small and powerful to get you through the day.

Do you know if any other pnp coils fit this like .8 from smok or is it just the voopoo coils
