The Voopoo Drag 2 is a 177w dual 18650 battery box mod that comes with the UForce T2 Sub ohm tank as a topper.
Update: Voopoo Drag 4 review live
VooPoo based in China, was originally established in 2014 to serve the medical and industrials fields, since 2017 and with the acquisition of US brand WoodyVapes they have bought us some really interesting gear, Alpha One, Too, Drag, not forgetting about the VMate 200w we reviewed not long ago.
VooPoo are known for their Gene Chip, which is one of the fastest and most accurate chipsets on the market with the exception of DNA! This version of the Gene chip includes the “FIT” menu, interestingly enough they call the Chipset the Gene FIT.
So what do we think of the Drag 2? Will it live up to the reputation of its predecessor the Drag? Let’s find out with our in depth and close up look…………………..
This Kit was sent to us by VooPoo for the purpose of review. As always my thoughts and views are my own.

Design and Build Quality
The Drag 2 Kit comes well presented in a card box with a paper over sleeve; the spares are the standard quality and quantity from VooPoo.
UForce T2 Tank
This is a good quality, heavy, well constructed tank that looks the part too. No real big changes from its predecessor the UForce Tank apart from the colour and tank glass size options.
The styling of the tank somewhat strangely reminds me of Transformers or is that just me lol. The tank has a diameter of 26.5mm and is made from a stainless steel construction with pyrex and resin.
The tank dismantles into 5 parts including the coil for easy cleaning and maintenance.
Base/ Airflow
The bottom of the base has all the normal info presented. The stainless steel (SS) threading is well turned and holds a gold plated connection pin which sits a little proud. The bottom tri stop airflow is easy to turn. The coil screws into the base and has a stopper ring for the glass to sit upon.
Coil/s
VooPoo include 2 coils with the tank both are kanthal stock coils, the pre installed is the U2 0.4Ω coil rated between 40 – 80w and best vaped at 55 – 65w.
The spare is the N3 Mesh 0.2Ω coil rated for use between 65 – 100w and best vaped at 75 – 85w.
All UForce coils are compatible with this tank – U2, U4, U6, U8, N1, N2, N3, R1, D4 as well as P2. However, the P2 is not compatible with the TPD version because of the 2ml glass sizing.
Glass
Two Pyrex tanks are supplied, the 5ml bubble is pre installed, the spare is 3.5ml. VooPoo have a range of additional glass sizes available for purchase separately 2ml (TPD) 3.5ml, 5ml, 5.5ml and 8ml.
Chimney fill port section
This section is in one piece, the coil screws into the base of the chimney and seated with an O ring, the chimney while short looking is embedded into the main structure, the glass is held in position by 2 O rings. To open the fill port find the branded “UFORCE” logo and push open the cap, the port has an orange silicon bung lining the fill port.
Mouth piece
This is made of a colourful resin to match the Voopoo Drag 2 and is an 810 type with O rings, only one mouthpiece is supplied.
Voopoo Drag 2 Mod
A beautifully smooth looking mod that is made of zinc alloy with a colourful resin plate on one side.Standing 88.3mm tall 51mm wide with a depth of 26.5mm, the Drag 2 is slightly lighter in weight than the original Drag at 158g.
On the work panel of the device you have the fire button and adjustment buttons that are made of SS, the OLED screen is flush to the body and measures approx 26x10mm and has all the usual info expected, and micro usb port for charging/updates.Firmware updates can be made on the official Voopoo website.
The back of the device has a magnetised battery door which like its predecessor has the word DRAG printed in a large font. The door holds 2 magnets and marry to their hidden counter parts inside the mod, there is some movement to the door once in place.
The connection point is a centre 510 with a gold plated spring loaded pin.The plate is slightly raised and made of SS with the threading very well turned. Each edge of the mod has been chamfered making the Drag 2 very comfortable to hold.
The bottom of the Drag 2 has 4 tiny battery vent holes along with branding and safety marks.
Inside the battery compartment, the sled has a battery ribbon the plastic sled is very clean; the battery connection points are clearly marked. Although I do wish manufacturers would take the hint from reviewers and mark these in white! The top of the sled is marked with “Just Drag and Gene Chip” the internal board/wires etc are hidden under the plastic sled.
I would say that the overall construction quality and design of the Voopoo Drag 2 is excellent.
A Basic Quick Start Guide
UForce T2
- Choose which coil fits you best, pre wick the coil by dropping a few drops of liquid into the coil and screw into the base.
- Choose which glass you wish to use.
- Reassemble the tank, and fill with E-Liquid.
- Leave the tank to one side for 10 minutes so the coil can soak up more liquid.
Tip: each coil has a ‘min’ line, don’t vape below this line or your coil might burn out quickly.
Drag 2
- Place 2×18650 batteries into the sled “note the correct orientation” replace the door.
- Screw on your UForce T2 tank.
Basic operation
- 5 quick clicks to turn on and off
- x3 clicks for the fit menu (more about that later)
- x3 clicks for TC wire selection and x1 to enter TC
- x3 to get back to Power
- Hold both adjustment buttons for the menu system in both TC and Power
- Press fire and up buttons to lock/unlock the device
- Fire and down button will flip the screen
- The Drag 2 has 8 safety features to keep you vaping safely.
How Does The Voopoo Drag 2 Kit Perform?
I have filled the UForce T2 tank with the Black Vine from the Rochford Project and will be using the pre installed U2 0.4Ω coil.
30 to 55w
Setting the airflow to almost closed, it is possible to get an airy MTL draw at 30w. The flavour was very good with a decent amount of vapour produced.
Upping to 55w and opening the airflow up to half, the vapour production was thick and the flavour was good.
65 – 80w
Because the U2 coil is rated best at 55 to 65w I decided to start at 65w with the AF wide open, the vapour produced was warm and incredibly cloudy, with fairly good flavour.
Knocking the Drag 2 up until I reached 80w, which was a surprise for my poor old micro lungs as they almost exploded with the shear amount of vapour that was produced. I now keep the U2 coil at 65w which gives me the best balance of flavour and vapour.
RDA
I changed up for my Drop Dead RDA with dual kanthal 22g coils 0.11 and fired the Drag 2 at 120w… WOW, the amount of vapour produced was incredible and while well over my tolerance for heat the flavour was very good.
The Drag 2 Menu System
The menu is basically the same as the original Drag being simple to use. The Drag 2 has an extra menu called “FIT” with 3 options to it
- Battery saving
- Best flavour
- Best cloud production
Personally I like to think of them as soft, medium, and high! Apparently according to VooPoo the “FIT” is best suited to stock tanks and in particular UForce tanks.
Battery Life
I have been using exclusively Samsung 30q batteries in the Drag 2 and have averaged 4.5 hrs at 65w, VooPoo do say the Drag has balanced charging. I still prefer charging externally.
Pros
- The whole kit is good quality and has been designed well
- Good flavour and vapour production from the UForce T2
- Easy top filling
- Good battery life
- User friendly menu system
Cons
- No concerns with this kit
Final Review Verdict
I approached the Voopoo Drag 2 with some caution as my experience with 2nd versions of anything tends to pale to the original!
I was very surprised to find that the Drag 2 does live up to the original Drag and in some respects eclipses it with weight, feel and usability. Only time will tell if it has the same durability as my year old original which has been beaten up considerably.
I’m not sure yet about the “FIT” menu, but the limited testing I did seems to belly VooPoo’s description.
Would I buy this Voopoo Drag 2 Kit again should I lose or break! Yes I would! In fact I already have a 2nd on order lol.
I’ve given your review a good read but I’m curious; would this be a good kit for someone vaping for the first time? Not myself, I have the Voopoo Too and personally I like it a lot (though I’ve been thinking about an upgrade) but it’s for my girlfriend, she’s interested in starting and due to the joy I’ve had with this brand versus others, I immediately suggested it.
Thoughts?
I bought the voopoo drag 2 at a local shop thinking it was a drag mini, disappointing to find out i’d have to invest more money into external batteries and a charger but honestly, its fantastic. This is my first box mod and the ease of use, power, and difference in flavor and vapor production is leagues better than my EGO AIO. However, the included U2 coil burnt out after a heavy night of use between 2 people, the N3 Coil is much better but the nice thing about these mods is you can always buy another tank or RDA and just slap it on if you don’t entirely like the U2 Tank and Coils. For the price it is an amazing starter kit for a novice vape user and i’d recommend it to my friends and new users looking for something with more room for growth and flexibility for preference, and flavor.
I was initially impressed by the Drag 2, but when the supplied U2 coil burnt out after 3 or 4 days I was suspicious about Voopoo’s quality, sadly this was further enforced by the replacements doing exactly the same after 2 or 3 days, this seems to be a common complaint so it might be worth mentioning that in the cons section. The N3 coil that came with the kit managed to last almost a month and I only changed it as it didn’t have enough airflow for my liking, but now I’m stuck using a U2 coil every 3 or 4 days, basically these coils are absolute garbage. Did you have any similar issues?
You can apparently use the Freemax Fireluke Mesh coils with the UForce (NOT the Mesh pro – the FIRELUKE Mesh – like the ones in this tank – with like a square pattern on – https://www.ecigclick.co.uk/freemax-fireluke-mesh-tank-review/)
They are excellent coils in the Fireluke Mesh and a lot of people say they perform wonderfully in the UForce – better flavour and coil life – so might be worth a try!
Also it seems e-liquids which have a lot of sweetner or cooling agent can kill coils prematurely but give the Fireluke Mesh coils a bash and see if things improve – cheaper than buying a new tank
Shell
Changed my drag 2.. 3 times same problem gets stuck in the fit mode no help from customer service upgrading software nd firmware doesnt change a thing… Shit product shit brand
Fantastic mod the drag 2!! It horrendous finish on the mod scratches way way too easy!! I have had mine since Christmas and it looks real shabby now. Ridiculous!!!
thats a shame Gary, I’ve had mine since well before Christmas and mine is still perfect! I use it 99% of the time
Could’ve sworn I just posted a comment but apparently i do not see it lol. I was wondering what your opinion is, Kevin, on this kit being a first timer’s one? My girlfriend is interested in starting and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this brand since switching to it from Smok.
hey Matthew, 177w is a bit much in my opinion for a beginner, have her look at the drag mini first dude internal battery scaled down version with 117w watts.
Hi Could you please tell me what the vest rta is best for the drag 2 please really stuck thanks
Agree had mines since christmas and it actually scratchs away with my finger nail!!
My voopoo drag 2 get stuck in the fit menu take about 30mins to get back to the normall watts mode.. I noticed. All the new drags 2s that come with the mod and tank in seperate boxes are having that same issue
