This is also available in a kit format with a power bank and additional filter style drip tips. But for this review we will only be covering the basic kit with the pen and charger.

What To Expect From The Voopoo Doric Galaxy…
This is similar in design to the old PCC (Personal Charging Case) kits – in that you have a very small vape device and a portable charging case (power bank) to carry around.
This is quite a throwback to devices such as the Joyetech eRoll Mac, Epuffer Magnum Snaps, Vype eStick and the Innokin AIO PCC (back in 2012!)
In fact one of my earliest kits in around 2013 was the Microlite from TECC which had a charging case styled like a cigarette packet! My mom used it for quite a while too! I found the image below on a website that offers valuations for collectibles! I had the Black version BTW!
There have been a few kits released in this style lately with the Joyetech eRoll Slim, Lost Vape Thelema Nexus and the Aspire Vilter Pro so perhaps the trend is back!
The vape device is a pen style format with a battery section and a replaceable pod.
It does have a very small battery at only 500mAh. But the portable charging case has a 1800mAh battery and you pop the pen into the case to magnetically charge it up. Plus it can be used to charge other devices like you would use a power bank.
You can of course just charge the pen on its own using the USB Type C port on the base.
A USB Type C port is also provided on the charging case / power bank, which allows a fast charging rate of 2A.
Both the pen and charging case have LED indicators to inform of battery charge remaining.
The pod has a fixed 1.2ohm Mesh coil which is not replaceable. When the coil performance drops you simply replace the pod component with a new one. No messy coil changes!
It is refillable with up to 2ml of your own e-liquid via the side fill port.
You have 2 types of mouthpiece (drip tip) – you can use the plastic (POM) Black mouthpiece or a cigarette filter style. Both are included in the full kit.
There are 4 colours to choose from: Blue, Leaden & Red, Black & Silver & White.

Voopoo Doric Galaxy Vape Pen Design and Build Quality
I received the Blue version.
As mentioned above this is the budget version with only the pen, pod and USB cable included. So as you can imagine the packaging is quite small but perfectly functional!
The outer packaging is a cardboard box which looks great and has the authenticity checker on the side. Either scan the QR code with your phone camera or input the code into the Voopoo Security Code Page.
Opening the box reveals a slide out plastic tray which snugly houses the device complete with pod. Everything arrived in perfect condition so the packaging is doing its job!
On the underside of the tray you will find a small bag which contains the 50cm long braided USB cable and the user manual. I have to say the length and quality of the cable is very impressive compared to some kits where it is too short to be of much use!
The instruction manual is very thick but only 6 pages are dedicated to each language and the text is quite small. Fear not – you can view an online version which is easier to read and zoom in here!
Voopoo Doric Galaxy Vape Pen
This is surprisingly small at around 16mm in diameter. It is pretty much cylindrical with a flat face on either side.
The finish is a lovely metallic Blue and covers all of the device apart from the base.
On one of the flat sides is the LED indicator which measures 6mm in length and is nice and bright. Above and below this is some branding with the “Voopoo” and “Doric Galaxy” logos etched in.
Turn it 180° and you will see an embedded electrical connector. This is where the pen would connect with the power bank / charging case. If you buy the pen on its own – this will not be of much use.
On each of the rounded sides at the top are small pin holes which allow the airflow to vape.
Towards the bottom on one of the sides are the required legal logos.
The base has a similar finish but feels like a rubber material. As this is a tall and slim device it struggles to stay standing up vertically.
A USB Type C port lives on the base and I have had no issues with operation at all.
The pod compartment is very deep so if you need to clean the contacts you will need a Cotton Bud rather than just a bit of tissue.
Inside the pod compartment there appear to be 2 electrical contacts and 2 magnets. The magnets are nice and strong and when the pod is inserted they turn it so the contacts align.
It is a very light device with no visual flaws and feels well made.
Doric Galaxy Pod Cartridge
This is a tall pod, especially when coupled with the plastic drip tip (Black Mouthpiece).
The mouthpiece is removable, just pull it out from the pod. However this kit did not include the cigarette filter style tips – which are installed and removed in the same way.
About 1/3rd of the pod is visible when installed in the pen and weirdly this is the part of the pod which is tinted the darkest? Which makes it quite hard to see the e-liquid level.
The lower 2/3rds of the pod are a lighter tint and you can see the e-liquid and integrated coil easily. On this area you will find the pod resistance and required legal logos.
A large fill port cover is mounted on the side with a small cut out to help with lifting it to access the e-liquid fill port. You can also swing the cover out of the way to help with filling.
The port itself measures around 3x5mm so most small e-liquid nozzles should fit here OK.
As the actual port is around half way up the pod it is difficult to fill it fully as you have to tilt the pod in different directions. Plus you can get air locks where sections of the pod have air trapped meaning you can’t fully fill it.
On the base of the pod you will see the Gold coloured electrical contacts which are hollow for the airflow to pass through. The Silver circles are the magnets which secure the pod to the pen.
Quick Start Guide
The device arrives with an isolator sticker on the base of the pod. This is to prevent firing before e-liquid is added to the pod. Firing when the pod is empty will damage the pod and possibly cause overheating.
Fill the pod then remove the isolator sticker. Make sure to check the battery is fully charged. I will guide you through all the steps below!
Basic Operation
- Power On/Off = There is no on/off function
- Vaping = Simply inhale on the mouthpiece to trigger the auto draw activation.
- Battery indicator = The LED indicator will change colour to display the battery charge remaining when vaping – Green = 60-100%, Blue = 30-60% and Red = 30% or below.
- Battery indicator when charging = The LED will breathe (slowly pulse) in the appropriate colour as the battery indicator above. When fully charged the light will stay on Green solidly (not pulsing).
Protections
- Atomiser Detected: The LED will flash Green once and the pen will vibrate for 0.5 seconds. This means the device and pod are properly connected.
- No Atomiser: If the pod and pen are not properly connected or there is a fault, the LED will flash twice in Green. Clean all the pod and pen contacts. Replace with a new pod. If fault persists the device may be defective.
- Low Battery: When the battery charge drops to a point where there is no power left to vape, the Red LED will flash 5 times and the pen will vibrate twice.
- Over Vaping Alert: If you vape more than 20 times in 10 minutes the pen will vibrate for 0.5 seconds.
- Overtime Protection: If you vape for over 8 seconds, the LED flashes 5 times and vibrates for 2 seconds. You will need to inhale again to re-start vaping.
- Short Circuit: The LED will flash Red 3 times. Clean all the pod and pen contacts. Replace with a new pod. If fault persists the device may be defective.
How To Charge The Battery
The charging rate is specified as 1A.
This does have “pass through” charging – meaning you can vape on it whilst charging.
- Using a USB type C cable, connect the small end into the USB port on the pen.
- Connect the large end of the cable into a suitable USB outlet.
- The LED indicator will pulse through the battery indicator colours and will stay on Green constantly when fully charged.
I found this to take around 30 minutes to fully charge.
How To Fill the Pod
If using a new pod leave to stand for 5-10 minutes after first fill to allow the coil to saturate with e-liquid.
- Remove the pod from the pen by simply pulling it out. There may be a slight resistance from the retaining magnets.
- Lift up the port cover in the direction of the arrow.
- Add e-liquid to the port. You may need to tilt the pod in various directions to fill all areas of the pod.
- Watch the e-liquid level through the side of the pod.
- Replace the fill port cover firmly.
- Replace the pod into the pen.
How Does the Voopoo Doric Galaxy Vape Pen Perform?
I used my 50% PG / 50% VG Bubblegum e-liquid with 6mg nicotine salt. I mix this myself from the IVG concentrate.

1.2ohm Doric Galaxy Pod Cartridge
The flavour and vapour are decent straight from the first vape.
I tend to enjoy slightly lower resistance coils around 0.8ohm at around 15-16W. Therefore this feels quite under-powered for me. As a result I have to take very long inhales to feel like I have a satisfying amount of vapour in my mouth. Sadly the 8 second timer cuts off the vape before I feel I have had enough.
The low power and high coil resistance is to prolong the battery life as the device only has a 500mAh battery.
For me I would prefer a bigger battery with a slightly higher output. 1ohm or 0.8ohm pods would perform better.
It is decent and would suit those using high nicotine strengths as the output is not enough to cause huge coughing fits. But for those who already use devices with 15W+ outputs you will find this slightly disappointing.
Airflow
To help rate how restricted the airflow is, I use a scale – where 0 = fully closed, no airflow up to 10 = breathing fresh air.
For this I would rate it around 1 – it is very tight. Tighter than inhaling on a cigarette for sure. This may be ideal for some but off-putting for others. As there is no airflow adjustment you are kind of stuck with the airflow.
Mod Performance
This has been a very weird kit to use.
After 9 out of 10 inhales it vibrates and the Red LED comes on. It is not always the over time (8 second) cut off either as I have timed it.
The instructions mention an “Over Vaping Alert”. Apparently this means the pen will vibrate for 0.5 seconds if you vape more than 20 times in 10 minutes. This does not explain the Red LED though?
As for the over time protection, this kept cutting the vape off at 8 seconds when I felt like I needed longer due to the low output.
I have no idea what the Red LED staying on and a long vibrate means – there is nothing in the instructions which matches?
Output wise it is pretty consistent, the last 2 or 3 vapes before the battery conks out are slightly weaker.
I am pleased with the 30 minute charging time from the USB port – that does mean you are up and running very quickly!
Leaks
No a drop – excellent!
Battery Life
The battery life is around 3 hours. I do vape quite often though and had to take very long inhales.
But with it charging in around 30 minutes it is not long to wait to get back to vaping!
Pros
- Very simple to use
- Great quality
- Decent flavour
- Very tight MTL airflow
- Vibration is handy – but it does seem to vibrate after every vape!
- 30 minute charge time
- Very gentle vape ideal for those on high nicotine strengths
- No leaks
Cons
- Top part of the pod is too darkly tinted to see e-liquid level
- 2/3rds of the pod is concealed when in use so have to remove the pod to see e-liquid level
- Vibrates and lights up the Red LED after nearly every inhale? Not mentioned in the instructions
- As it is quite low power the 8 second limit is too low
- Airflow is MTL only and no adjustment, it might be too tight for some
- Really needs a bigger battery, higher output and lower resistance pods
- Due to fill port location you can get airlocks when filling
Voopoo Doric Galaxy Vape Pen Review Verdict
If you are a new vaper using high nicotine strength e-liquid you will find the Voopoo Doric Galaxy vape pen ideal.
It is super simple to use and fill, plus it recharges very quickly.
For anyone used to vaping you will find this a bit “meh”. Especially if you are used to some of the excellent pod kits and disposable vapes you can get hold of nowadays.
Due to the 500mAh battery the output is low, the vapour is cool and it feels like it needs more “oomph”. A higher output and lower resistance pods would be a start, but of course they will hammer the battery life.
I can’t complain about the flavour – considering the low output it is pretty good. But you will find the airflow very tight – tighter than a drag on a ciggie. Therefore some kind of airflow adjustment would make this appeal to more people.
I just feel that there are much better kits out there. Yes this is small and simple to use, but the performance does not live up to the capabilities of a modern vape. Perhaps 4 or 5 years ago this would have felt good, but in this era of incredible starter and pod kits it just feels a bit out of date. Even those who use disposable vapes would find this lack-lustre.
In its favour is the low purchase price – which is a bonus.
If you want to purchase this kit, I would suggest buying the full kit with the cigarette style filters and charging case to get the best performance.
