This time I’m going to be taking a look at the new Voopoo Argus Pod! This ergonomic little device will fire up to 20W of power.
Voopoo were originally set up in 2010 as a medical electronic research company based in China.
In 2016 they acquired Woody Vapes and so started their prolific journey into the wonderful world of E-cigarettes!
Over the years Voopoo have given us many kits, some of their ranges include – the Drag series, the Vinci series and the Argus range. One of my favourite Voopoo Kits of all time is the Alpha Zip with the excellent Maat tank!
What Can We Expect From the Voopoo Argus Pod?
This kit is available in 6 colours; Carbon Fibre, Black, Grey, Brown, Red & Sky Blue.
The Argus Pod is equipped with Voopoo’s ITO atomisation technology which brings a tasty mouth to lung (MTL) and restricted direct to lung (RDTL) experience.
The device is auto draw with adjustable airflow and the power is easily adjusted up to 20W!
Inside the Argus Pod is the new gene AI 1.2 chipset making this Pod kit a little smarty pants lol.
This product was sent to me direct from Voopoo, for the purpose of review!
As always my views and thoughts are my own after a considerable testing period.

Design and Build Quality
I was sent a sample of the kit in Black for this review, the kit comes nicely presented in a card draw box!
Argus Pod Cartridges
Voopoo include 2 different cartridges with the kit a 1.2Ω and a 0.7Ω.
Both the pods are refillable and have side fill ports covered with a silicone bung.
And both feature a non replaceable mesh coil.
The pod cartridge airflow is handled by 4 small holes on the bottom of the cartridge.
The cartridges are made of plastic and have good manufacturing quality! Throughout my testing I have received constantly good flavour as well as a good vaping experience; this is due to the ITO atomisation.
In this time apart from a little condensation, I have suffered no leaks into the pod bay from either cartridge!
In fact my only gripe with the pod/cartridges is the 2ml liquid capacity; but then when do I not gripe about that lol.
The mouth piece is ergonomic and has been very comfortable to my lips.
At the time of writing this review, this kit is so new to the market I am unable to find out if Voopoo are going to release pod cartridges other than the 0.7Ω and 1.2Ω that come with the kit or if the unit is compatible with other types of pod cartridges.
Voopoo Argus Pod Device
This device is quite small measuring in at around 90mm tall with a pod in place, the width of this device is 20mm and a depth of around 15mm.
There is a zinc alloy casing with faux leather stickers, this is indeed a small light device that gets lost within my big meat hooks!
From the top
The Argus Pod has a pod bay that contains the normal spring loaded gold contact points 2 strong magnets and an internal airflow slot.
Voopoo Argus Pod Sides
Both sides of the device have faux leather style stickers that serve as decoration and for advertising!
The front side is stamped “Argus”.
And has an adjustable airflow slide.
The back is stamped with “Voopoo”.
And also has markings for the Gene chip inside.
Voopoo Argus Pod Screen
Is located on one of the rounded sides of the device, and the measurement of the OLED screen is 0.69”, it displays the real-time battery capacity, puffs and vaping time.
It also records and manages your daily vaping intelligently.
For me this is a very tiny screen, as with my old man’s eyes – I need my reading specs on to see the screen clearly; the screen however does give you all the expected info.
Voopoo Argus Pod – Bottom
This is where you will find the Type C Charge Port for charging the 800mAh internal battery. I can’t find any guidance to suggest the firmware is updateable within the manual I received with this sample kit!
So How Does the Voopoo Argus Pod Kit Perform?
For this review I will be filling the 0.7Ω pod cartridge with 70/30 “Strawberry & Raspberry” liquid from Kwik Vape.
And the 1.2Ω pod cartridge I will be filling with Double Drip 50/50 Nic Salt “Super Berry Sherbet”!
A Basic Quick Start Guide
Voopoo Argus Pod Cartridge
Choose which Pod you want to use
- Locate the fill port bung and fill the Pod/Cartridge with E-liquid.
- Let the cartridge stand for about 3 minutes before firing for the first time. This is so the cotton can soak up more e-liquid.
- Then place the cartridge into the pod bay within the device and you’re ready to go!
Voopoo Argus Pod Device
Make sure the device is fully charged before 1st use, I say this because mine came to me with 50% power!
The Argus Pod device is auto draw meaning there is no fire button to push just suck away.
Functions
- Click the action button 5 times fast, to turn the device on.
- One long press to exit the informational screen.
- To change the wattage press the action button with one long press, to start the watts flashing the action button will then change the wattage.
- Wait a couple of seconds and you’re able to vape at your desired wattage – from between 5 to 20W in 1 watt increments. The device does round robin.
Menu Options
5 clicks of the action button will enter menu mode with 3 options.
- Lock – This will lock the device
- Puff – Clear the puff count
- Off – Turns the device off
This device has 6 built in protections.
Voopoo Argus Pod – In Use
I’m not a great lover of small auto draw devices, or come to that pod kits in general preferring something with a bit more welly to it!
I can literally count on one hand those auto draw devices I do like, the OXVA Xlim Pod Kit for instance!
I have to say though the Argus Pod does function just as it is advertised with a smooth draw, good flavour and a decent vapour production!
While the device has a great feel in the hand, I feel it gets lost in larger hands such as mine, I also find it hard to push the action button with my sausage like fingers lol.
Even so, with the airflow slide fully open the pods deliver a great cloudy restricted direct to lung vape!
Cutting the airflow down makes a good mouth to lung vape. I was hard pressed to decide on flavour quality as to me either pod option gave good flavour.
Because I personally prefer an airier vape I have been mainly using the 0.7Ω pod for restricted DTL.
My preferred wattage for the 0.7Ω pod or cartridge is 15W to 18W
For the 1.2Ω pod, I have been using it between 8 and 10W.
Notes
As a MTL device using the 1.2Ω pod the 800mAh battery lasted me pretty much all day, I used this pod with 20mg nic salt liquid makes a great replacement for those darn disposable vapes!
For the 0.7Ω pod I have been using it as a restricted DTL device with a 70/30 freebase Nic liquid, I found after about 3hrs I had to recharge the device – I wasn’t chain vaping either just good healthy lung full’s lol.
Pros
- Quality and Design
- Great battery life (MTL)
- Comfortable in hand
- Good flavour and vapour production
- Beginner friendly
- Smooth airflow draw
Cons
- A very small device (Subjective)
- Small fonts on screen
Final Review Verdict
At first I thought when opening the box was Voopoo had created an updated version of the Argus Air however this is not the case, this is an auto draw device and granted while the basic idea is similar to the Argus Air it’s not!
The Argus Pod is a bit of a weird one for me, I love the operational capability of the device; the pods or cartridges are well made and deliver a great experience without leaking! The whole kit looks the biz, I just can’t get over the size of the device, it’s too small for me personally! The screen size is a pain for an old man like me who is visually challenged.
If you like compact vapes though you’re good to go.
Would I recommend the Voopoo Argus Pod?
For those new to vaping or even those who want to get off of the disposable vapes or cigarettes, it would even be great for those who like MTL vaping so “Yes”.
Would I buy this device again due loss or damage?
I can’t say this is the device for me so in that respect “No”.
Mrs J has inherited this kit and she loves it as she is a dedicated mouth to lung vaper and mainly uses it with CBD!
Dear Miss Michelle
I know that you are a fan of UWELL CALIBURN G and Oxva XLIM devices in terms of flavoring. In your opinion, between these two devices and Voopoo Argus Air, which one has the best flavoring, or if you have tested a new device, what is the best pod device in terms of flavoring? Is/
I would still say OXVA 0.8ohm V2 pods are the best – incredible flavour and excellent coil life – so they get 10/10 from me!
Closely followed by the Caliburn Tenet (0.8ohm G2 pod – coil life not as good as Xlim though) and I am currently reviewing the Argus G (the 0.7ohm pods are incredible – also compatible with other Argus kits) – not sure about the Argus Air though – have never tried it. The Argus Air uses different pods to the other Argus kits as it uses PnP coils which are not the same as the Argus Pods in the “G” kit I am using now.
To sum up – grab any of the Xlim range (Apart from the V1 pods) and you will be happy!
Hi, I wonder if you can tell me if the Pure Mist Silk Mist eliquid which is VG/PG 40/60 is suitable for use in the Voopoo Argus & if so which of the pods should I use with it 0.7 or 1.2 & at what wattage 10 or 12 or??? New to vaping… 3 months now. Finding it hard to find a vape liquid/salt that I like. I used to smoke Silk Cut Silver & I’m trying to find something that tastes similar. I have Multiple Sclerosis & my neurologist wants me to quit smoking. I’m finding all the information out there about vaping very confusing… thank you… Lorraine
We have a few guides which could help you which I will link to but in response to your question…
VG/PG 40/60 is basically a higher proportion of PG – which makes the e-liquid thinner and the PG is what gives you a “throat hit”. Therefore higher PG will mean this could be a bit harsh in more powerful kits and lower resistance coils. I would recommend trying the 1.2ohm coil first as this will be less powerful. With the 0.7ohm the throat hit could be a bit harsh making you cough.
As for power setting the device should choose the correct power level for you, you can experiment – go up or down in power depending on how the vape feels. If it is too warm or making you cough drop down in power. If you feel it isn’t kicking in enough go up a level.
Anyway some things which might help you understand some of the vape lingo…

Hope these help and I wish you success in your vaping journey – we are always here to help!
HELP! VapingforDummies! Can anyone explain in detail what the MIN # Vaping Time indicator means on the screen! Is it minutes toward the total puff count or what? Really can’t figure out the importance of this feature yet. LOL
The “Min” is confusing isn’t it!
I downloaded the user manual from Voopoo here and it says the large number is the “total puff” and the “min” value is the “total puff count” ?? Which made me even more confused!
Perhaps try to clear the puff counter and see if the “min” value goes back to zero – perhaps the large number is the puffs since the device first switched on and the smaller one is like a “trip counter” you can reset it to monitor say your puffs per day or puffs per coil etc?
@JD I agree hahaha, I also enjoyed this review about a MTL vape by someone who doesn’t MTL vape lol, quite an endorsement! The crystal clear pods really are nice. I can’t decide whether to wait for this or buy the Argus Air… I got a caliburn A2 which I suppose would make more sense for me to get the Argus Air, and take the A2 out with me when running errands etc.
Considering you’re a reviewer who doesn’t really MTL vape, this is a cracking review. Put it through it’s paces and it sounds pretty good for what it is! I love that the pods are crystal clear. Dark tinted pods/tanks are the bain of my life, lol.
