What Can We Expect From The Voopoo Argus G2 Mini?

Much like previous Argus iterations, the G2 Mini is designed to be a beginner friendly pod system that offers great performance, but in a fuss-free package. This is a simplified stripped-down version of the hugely popular Argus G2.

Design & Build Quality

Manufactured from Aluminium Alloy and Polycarbonate, the Voopoo Argus G2 Mini sports dimensions of 115 (or 110 for TPD version) x25.6×13.4mm.

It is quite a sleek and understated looking device, featuring a nice graded colour scheme.

It is very smooth with rounded edges that sit comfortably in the palm of my hand. The unmistakeable Argus logo embossed on the front leaving you in no doubt as to what type of device you have here!

Underneath the Argus logo is the LED light indicator, which lights up during use to let you know how much battery life you have left in the built-in 1200mAh battery.

Underneath this, at the base of the device around the USB Type-C charging port is an LED light ring. This is just for show really, but it is a nice little touch – and can make you stand out in the dark!

On the opposite side of the device is the airflow control, which is very easily adjustable and has smooth travel.

Included with the kit is a 0.7ohm Argus Top Fill pod (Voopoo prefer to call them cartridges!)

Argus pods are manufactured from PCTG and connect magnetically to the G2 Mini device. You can of course use any from the Argus range of pods, which are pretty freely available in the UK.

The 0.7ohm version allows you to see just how much e-liquid you have left inside the pod and has a top filling system. Although this is located more to the side of the pod, it’s kind of more a ‘top-side filling system’!

Voopoo Argus G2 Mini Quick Start Guide

Filling the Pod

  • Locate the filling port at the side of the pod near the top.
  • Pop the silicone cover up from the bottom, insert your bottle nozzle and fill away.
  • If you are filling a brand new pod up, allow the liquid to sit in the pod for five minutes or so before using it for the first time.

argus podThe placement of the filling port is actually quite handy as you can fill your pod back up without even having to remove it from the device, making re-filling very convenient.

Nicotine salt based e-liquids are a great match for these pods due to the 50/50 VG/PG ratio, but you won’t have any problems using slightly thicker mix ratios, such as a 60/40 one.

Operation

Once your Argus pod is ready, simply take a puff on the device to get going. There’s no buttons present here as it uses an auto draw system and the output wattage is determined by the resistance of your coil.

argus g2 mini side view

The LED indicator located underneath the Argus logo tells you how much battery life you have left at a glance. If it glows White there is 15-100% battery charge remaining. If it’s Red it’s time to get to a charger. It does run out quite quickly if it is Red and the vape becomes quite weak too!

argus g2 mini indicator light

If you find the LED light ring at the base annoying, or you just want to vape in stealth mode without alerting other people to your surroundings, you can turn it off by taking three quick puffs within two seconds.

Safety features are of course built into the device, with a five second vaping cut off alongside short-circuit, overcharge, low battery, output over-current and overheating protections.

Charging

You’ve got a USB Type-C charging port located at the base of the device, but you don’t get a charging cable included in the box so you will have to use your own. The location of the charging port means that you can’t stand the device up when charging, it needs to be on its side.

The 1200mAh battery charges at a steady 5V/1A rate, so not the quickest on the market and from experience the battery will take around an hour to fully charge from flat to full.

How Does The Voopoo Argus G2 Mini Perform?

As mentioned earlier in the review, this kit comes with a 0.7ohm Argus Top Fill pod, but is compatible with the full range of Argus pods.

During my time with this kit, I used a mixture of 10mg and 20mg nicotine salt based e-liquids and mix ratios of 50/50 VG/PG and 60/40.

argus g2 mini airflow

The 0.7ohm pod is better suited to restricted direct lung vaping due to the increased power that the Argus G2 Mini device will put out, but by using the adjustable airflow you can tighten it down if you prefer a mouth to lung hit.

The vape from the 0.7ohm pod is absolutely spot on for me. I dial the airflow down slightly from fully open and get hit with some excellent flavour from my e-liquids. Plus, I can take a good, long and slow draw on this and really enjoy the flavour from my chosen e-liquid.

Wattage is automatically determined for you by the device and it is capable of outputting up to 30W. Which puts it up there with the most powerful pod systems on the market to date. You will need the 0.4ohm pod to take advantage of that maximum output power though!

I’ve encountered these pods previously when reviewing the Voopoo Argus P1s and have subsequently continued to purchase them! I can confirm the lifespan is massive on these, honestly these are some of the longest lasting pods on the market!

I vape quite heavily so making one last 30 days is always going to be a stretch, but I’ll usually get around two weeks or more out of a single pod. Which is great when a lot of others on the market will last around a week. And the vape stays consistently good pretty much from start to finish.

Impressively, I don’t get any leaks from the Argus pod, there is barely any condensation build up here at all.

This pod can get through e-liquid pretty quickly if you are chain vaping. There’s quite a large surface area for the cotton in the coils to aid with wicking the juice. Great for preventing dry hits, but that does come at a cost!

Another impressive aspect with the kit is the battery life. This is a great choice to take away with you for a short trip or festival, as the battery really will see you through. I was getting well into two days’ worth of battery here!

Pros

  • Very easy to use device
  • Adjustable airflow, offers MTL and RDTL vaping options
  • Great flavour from the Argus pod
  • Long pod lifespan
  • Compatible with the full range of Argus pods
  • Very long battery life!
  • Solidly built, sleek looking kit
  • No leaking from the pods

Cons

  • Vape dies off pretty quickly when the LED is showing red
  • No adjustable wattage
  • 5 second cut off is a bit short for people who prefer a longer inhale
  • Pods are quite thirsty
  • No spare pod in the kit

Final Verdict

Another Argus pod system and another hit for Voopoo!

If you are thinking about making the switch from disposable vapes to a pod system, then you can’t really go wrong with the Argus range. The Argus G2 Mini would be an absolutely excellent choice for you.

You’ve got a robustly built kit from one of the top manufacturers in the market, that looks absolutely great and offers you a faff free vape. You just need to fill a pod up, pop it in, and you can vape away-for days on end too thanks to the superb 1200mAh built in battery!

Having compatibility with the full range of Argus pods, as well as adjustable airflow, also opens up a lot of options when it comes to different styles of vaping. This ensures that people who enjoy a tight mouth to lung vape, right up to a restricted mouth to lung hit and everything in between, are catered to with this device.

Pods are absolutely top notch as well, delivering excellent flavour and longevity.

Great stuff Voopoo!

Many thanks to Voopoo for sending the Argus G2 Mini in for review, this is available in the UK very soon!

Vaping full time since 2012, started on cigalikes for a while then curiosity got the better of me and I moved onto an vape pens, a month or two later I was seeing people walking around with these interesting shiny tubes and I thought 'I gotta get one of those'. Before I knew it a trip down to my local B&M got me my first VW mod, an Innokin SVD, paired with an iClear 30, and I was hooked. Soon after that I was jumping to VW mods both box and tube shaped, before I then made the jump to rebuilding and thus sub ohming, with my first RDA and mech mod. These days I've come back to convenience and mainly use pods, disposables and the VOOPOO Drag H40. Most importantly I am still loving vaping!
