This is something new for me – the Voom Pod Mod!
It is designed to make Disposable Vapes obsolete with pre-filled replaceable pods and the battery is rechargeable!
Is it worth binning your disposables and upgrading to the Voom Pod Mod? That is the question I am aiming to answer!
Voom state that their mission is…
“Remain steadfast in our commitment to navigate cigarette smokers into reducing damaging effects of combustible tobacco through the use of VOOM E-cigarettes. Cultivate a robust environment that helps incorporate the highest technology and supply standards to produce simple yet superior designed products with rich flavors.”
Sadly there is not much info about the brand – even on their own website, but they do also create Disposable Vapes and various pre-filled and refillable pod kits.
What To Expect From The Voom Pod Mod…
Sadly the Voom website is extremely vague about this kit, so I will tell you what I know from the instructions, the Voom Instagram page and the details on the Vape Club website.
This is a pod kit but the pods are not refillable, but they are replaceable.
The pods come pre-filled with 2ml of 20mg Nic Salt e-liquid and 12 flavour options (I will cover them all in the colours description). As you will see the initial kit comes with one flavour pod, but you can always mix and match the pods to different devices.
As these meet the TPD regulations they will be available in TPD regulated areas – including the UK!
You buy the pods in a pack of two and they promise 600 puffs per pod. Once the pod is empty you discard of just the pod, which reduces waste significantly as you retain the battery section.
Inside the main device is a 500mAh battery and this is rechargeable via the USB Port at up to 1A charging rate. It is worth noting that there is no USB cable included, but when you see the price of this kit, it is understandable!
An LED indicator light is provided on the base to display fault conditions. Even for an inexpensive device this still has plenty of user protections which I will cover in the Quick Start Guide section.
Auto Draw activation means this is just as simple as a disposable!

Voom Pod Mod Design and Build Quality
I received this in all the colour / flavour options!
The instructions are OK, but lots of mentions of “Smoking” – which is very wrong when it is a vape! Also they are quite badly translated in places and I still have no idea what the LED indicates – other than fault conditions.
There is no online version of the instructions either.
Inside the compact slim box you get the device, the pod and a matching lanyard. The lanyards are different colours depending on the device colour. Oh and they are a bugger to install! You have to thread the thin bit through 2 holes on the top of the mod, sod that – I did try I promise!
Voom Pod Mod
The main device body is metal – I assume Aluminium or Zinc Alloy with a lovely metallic Anodised finish.
It is basically a thin rectangle with smooth rounded edges almost like a bar of soap.
Both sides are plain but the front has the “Voom” logo etched in with a shiny finish. On the rear is the same logo in a speech bubble with the text “So good” and all the legal logos.
On the base is where you will find the USB Type C port. Next to that is a circular pattern of 6 holes. The LED is located in these holes and they illuminate during and after vaping.
I am not sure if they display battery charge status as you just get multicolour light patterns which are very sweet. See crappy video I tried to record of it below!
But you can’t see this whilst vaping due to the light location. So as soon as you stop vaping flip the device over to view the sparkly pretty lights!
The top face has a flatter appearance with a Black plastic edging where it meets the metallic sides. There is another metallic panel in the centre which houses the two Lanyard holes.
Looking into the pod port there are 2 magnets, 2 electrical connectors and the airflow sensor, these match up with the same pattern on the base of the pod. This is such a deep pod compartment it was impossible to get a photograph of the internal contacts.
A really clever feature is down to the position of the magnets. When you install the pod it automatically rotates into the correct position for the contacts to align. Such a clever design!
This is extremely cute and so well made. Very happy with the quality, just wish the LED was in a different position and for it to display the charge remaining.
Voom Pod Mod Pod
The mouthpiece of the pod is so small and delicate, it is actually a pleasure to use and extremely comfortable!
One side of the pod features the Voom logo and the other specifies the flavour and displays the required legal logos.
The coloured plastic base of the pod represents the flavour.
Voom Pod Mod Quick Start Guide
The kit arrives without the pod installed.
So you will need to install the pod and away you go!
Remove the protective cap from the base of the pod and also the plug from the mouthpiece. Pop the pod into the mod and it will automatically rotate to the correct position.
I did find that my kits were not fully charged, but still had some charge. So it would be worth sticking them on charge for a while before first use.
Basic Operation
- Power On/Off = There is no ON/OFF function
- Vaping = Just inhale on the mouthpiece to trigger the auto fire system, the LED on the base will light up when vaping.
- Battery indicator = When vaping, the LED indicator flashes through a cycle of colours. It appears this does not indicate the battery charge? The instructions mention a “3 coloured light prompt” – but again I have no idea.
- Battery indicator when charging = The LED stays on Red and when fully charged will turn off.
Protections
- Low Battery: LED flashes Red and the device will stop working, get it charged to continue vaping.
- Short circuit: LED flashes Red 10 times. The device will stop working. Clean the contacts or install a new pod.
- Over time protection: If you vape for longer than 8 seconds, the LED will flash twice in White and the firing will cut out. Simply restart vaping as normal.
How To Charge The Battery
The charging rate is specified as 1A.
- Using a USB type C cable, connect the small end into the USB port on the mod.
- Connect the large end of the cable into a suitable USB outlet.
- The LED will switch off when fully charged.
The charging time for me using a mains charging plug was around 1 hour 10 minutes.
How Does the Zoom Pod Mod Perform?
I was sent every flavour in the range, complete with an accompanying device. But you can just buy replacement pods on their own.
There are sadly no flavour descriptions so I can only judge if the flavour matches the name!
It is worth noting that these flavours are targeted towards Disposable Vape enthusiasts and new vapers. You are not going to get realistic fresh fruit flavours. You will get “Sweet Shop” inspired vibes. This will also impact my scoring as I am marking them as flavours rather than “fruity replications”.
So with that in mind if you are craving fresh fruits, sadly this range will not meet your expectations. But if you still enjoy a sweetie / candy style vape then you should be happy!
Blueberry
This is delicious – straight out of the packet!
There is some cooling here although that is not mentioned in the name.
This is a more synthetic sweet rendition of Blueberry – but it is faithful to what you would find in any disposable vape.
I will drop half a mark as I believe it should have “Ice” in the name and as there are no flavour descriptions this might catch out some people who are not into icy vapes.
But otherwise what an excellent start – yum yum!
Sour Blue Raspberry
Usually I am not a fan of sour things, but I have found in a few cases that Blue Raspberry and Sour Apple are lovely flavours – so I have high hopes for this one!
Did it meet my high hopes?
Oh yes and then some – absolutely bloody delicious!
Not quite as sour as I expected but these pods are replicating the sweeter disposable vape flavours so it can be forgiven.
I love this so much, even though there is some sweetness it isn’t sickly sweet or syrupy. It is an excellent example of perfect blending where sweet and sour aspects balance each other out.
What a stunning flavour and it is actually better than any Sour Blue Raspberry I have ever had in a disposable!
Cherry Ice
Wowee this is a beauty!
If you hold the vapour in your mouth for a while you get a slight tingle like sherbet!
The Cherry flavour is synthetic – it reminds me of exactly these sweets below…
If I open a bag of Haribo these are some of the first ones I look for – they are my favourite (along with the big Strawberries!).
This vape tastes exactly the same even down to the sugary fizzy coating.
I will say the cooling is very subtle, you don’t notice it until after you exhale, but it may be what is generating the wonderful pop on the tongue. Perhaps if the cooling was heavier it may dull some of your taste receptors?
For me this is perfect and exactly what I want from a Cherry flavoured vape!
Sour Apple
The smell of Apple oozes from the box of this one!
Wow this is amazing!
It reminds me of having cold fresh chunks of Apple in your mouth whilst drinking a cold glass of fresh Apple juice!
Even down to the slightly fizzy sensation which makes the side of your jaw tingle.
There is sweetness and then there is the earthy full bodied back notes of fresh Apple.
This is so authentic, in fact the most authentic Apple flavour vape I have ever tried.
I wish I could give this more than 10/10 it really is that incredible!
Amazing work Voom – I am so impressed – it is perfect!
Cola Lime
You can really smell the Cola as soon as you remove the protective covers off the pod!
The Cola flavour is more of a Cola Bottle sweet than a fresh fizzy Cola drink.
The Cola dominates the inhale but you do also get the Lime on the exhale.
It is a really tangy tarty Lime too, makes you suck your cheeks in a bit.
I think that was a smart move as it prevents this flavour getting bogged down in sweetness and overpowering synthetic Cola. The citrus edge definitely freshens things up.
This would really benefit from some cooling, to help bring the sensation of a nice cold glass of the beverage.
So this is going to be marked slightly lower as the Cola flavouring is slightly off – it is too rich and trying too hard. It reminds me of warm flat Coke.
The combination of flavours does help this become better than if it was just Cola.
Lemon Lime
Wow this is proper tangy!
As you would expect with two of the more sour citrus flavours combined it does give your tongue a tingle!
It is just like drinking a fizzy strong Lemon Lime drink, the flavour concentration is perfect.
There is a slight icy note but it would really benefit from slightly more cooling so it is even more refreshing.
This is less sweet than some of the other flavours but there is still a slight sugary tinge which makes this more of a Soda / Carbonated beverage than a fresh fruit juice.
So if you want fresh super sour Lemon Lime then I would swerve this flavour. If you prefer “slightly syrupy with a tang” flavour then this is perfect.
I would just suggest a smidge of cooling in here to make it even more refreshing!
But I love it!
Strawberry Ice
All I can say is Yum!
Reminds me of delicious Strawberry Laces!
There is a good portion of cooling here, which not only kicks in on the inhale but also continues as you begin to exhale.
The cooling is perfectly balanced and therefore does not knock out your tastebuds so you can still taste the lovely Strawberry-ness.
This is quite a synthetic candy style Strawberry, so if you were craving a fresh fruit flavour I would look elsewhere.
Very nice indeed!
Mix Berry
This is a rich and tasty multi berry combo.
I can detect Raspberry, Blackcurrant and possibly some more sour berries?
This one is quite sweet but still retains a slight hint of sourness to prevent it becoming overpoweringly sweet.
It is absolutely delicious and as it is so well balanced I think this would appeal to all berry fans!
10/10 from me – oh yes!
Grape Ice
For some reason Grape does not always translate well into a vape flavour. I know my colleague Neil C agrees with me.
So along with Watermelon, Mango and Kiwi it is on my list of vapes to avoid!
But I have faith in Voom as they tend to veer on the sweeter side of things – so they could just possibly save this one…
Ooh it isn’t bad!
In fact it is quite nice!
There seems to be darker varieties of Grape in here which give a richer sweeter flavour, rather than the tart Green versions.
Plus this is a lot sweeter than most Grape vapes so it does work a lot better for me.
There is a slight perfumey synthetic flavour, which to me is not unpleasant.
But if you want a tart, sour and fresh tasting Grape this will probably be one you leave at the back of a cupboard and ignore.
If you are more used to the Disposable Vape style Grape you will probably enjoy this a lot. For me it does the trick in a way that was better than I expected!

Watermelon
I really detest Watermelon as a vape flavour – just sayin…
I just feel like it dries out my tongue when it is supposed to be refreshing!
However this is one of the better ones, it still has that horrible dry effect and the background flavour of household Gas but it does have a nice edge of sweetness which almost makes this palatable!
So I will be ranking this highly even though I hate it, but it will drop a mark as it is a lot sweeter than most Watermelon flavours. For me that is a bonus but there may be some who find it too sweet and crave a bit more of a tang.
For those of you who love a disposable Watermelon vape, this should be ultra satisfying!

Pink Lemonade
I am partial to a nice Pink Lemonade vape so have been looking forward to this one!
Oh yes – it delivers!
Right down to a slight fizzy sensation on the tongue too – excellent stuff!
I can’t pick out exactly what fruits are making up the “Pink” component of this, they definitely have a tang and combined with the strong Lemon this is one of the few sour varieties in the whole Voom Pod Mod range.
I wish Voom would give flavour descriptions as it is driving me potty trying to figure out the combination of flavours in here – apart from Lemon which is very obvious.
Perhaps the sign of good blending is when the flavours merge together to bring something new, something greater than each ingredient individually!
Although mostly a sour flavour you are left with a slight syrupy feeling after exhaling so my sweet tooth is still happy!
This is not the most amazing Pink Lemonade I have ever tasted, but it is way up there with some of the best.
Blackcurrant Lemon
This is a very unusual one, the first vape reminded me of a Fruity Shampoo.
It has a very Perfumed edge to it, with the Lemon just bringing a detergent like vibe.
The two flavours do completely blend and neither overpowers the other, but is it a match made in heaven? Nope not for me.
I just can’t get past the cleaning product sensation and sadly that does spoil this flavour for me.
However in an unprecedented twist, I got a buddy to try this one and he loved it! Said the flavour was strong and delicious and he could happily vape this all day. Hence this is now his!
So it seems to be a divisive one this, so it’s kind of “Marmite”, 50/50 whether you will love it or not!
I have had to up the score on this one now!
Airflow
This is a perfect MTL airflow, it should satisfy any ex-smoker as it perfectly replicates the sensation of sucking on a cigarette.

Mod Performance
The mod performance is perfect. The auto draw was sensitive and reliable, no stuttering or refusing to fire.
I am still very confused about the LED indicator as it doesn’t appear to change colour according to battery charge remaining, you just get the pretty light pattern.
I will add that all 12 devices performed without fault!
Leaks
Not a single dribble! Which really is to be expected with pre-filled pods as there is a short life to the pod – it is disposed of when empty – so the seals shouldn’t dry out or leak.
Another “brownie point” to Voom!
Puff Count & Battery Life
Both of these statistics will vary from person to person – depending on lengths of inhale, frequency etc.
I do take very long inhales so I expect to be getting a lot less than the promised 600 puffs.
The first pod (Blueberry) I used I got 235 puffs before the flavour got weak and a slight burnt tinge crept in.
At this point the battery was still going, the battery charge will outlive the life of the pod. So I will add the next pod to this battery to gauge how many puffs you will get for 1 charge.
The total number of puffs to 1 charge was around 290-295.
I counted the puffs also on the Cherry Ice pod and got 210 – again I did take long vapes.
Just to put these numbers into context, for similar disposables – such as the RELX Waka SoPro 600 I got around 180 to 200 puffs to the same 2ml of e-liquid so the Voom Pods did perform slightly better.
Although my puff count is below the 600 promised, the figures are pretty meaningless as I do take long inhales. Who can specify exactly what period of time constitutes a single puff?
Pros
- As simple to use as a disposable, just charge and replace the pods
- Lovely design in some great colours
- Excellent build quality
- Mix and match devices and flavours to suit
- Quality lanyard included in kit
- The value for money is exceptional – even the replaceable pods are inexpensive
- Same flavour and performance as you get from a quality disposable vape
- Less waste and expense as you only replace the pods
- Great battery life
Cons
- Pods only come in 20mg nic salt strength, it would be great to see some other strength options
- LED is located on the base so is hard to see when vaping
- Difficult to attach the lanyard
- Instructions are a bit hard to understand in places, possibly translation issues?
- No indication of battery charge remaining
Final Review Verdict
Although you only get 1 pod and no USB cable in the kit, it is still an absolute bargain!
The device is so well made and just feels like quality.
The price point of this is around two 600 puff disposable vapes. Even the pods are roughly the price of one disposable – for 2 pods!
I am disappointed with the LED indicator, due to its position and the fact it doesn’t give any indication of battery charge status.
As for the flavour, these pods would give any good quality disposable vapes a run for their money. They have strong, sweet and delicious flavours which are tough competition for disposables.
If you prefer fresh realistic fruit flavours, then this range is not really for you. They are designed to replicate the sensation of a disposable vape which usually have higher flavour concentrations and are not well known for being true fruit representations.
To me – this kit does actually make disposable vapes redundant!
You only have to charge and insert a pod – that is it.
So in summary – don’t waste your money on wasteful expensive disposables, pick up the Voom Pod Mod and some delicious pods in your favourite flavours instead.
