My. Von Erl Pod Mod / Closed System Review

The My. Von Erl is the latest of the ‘Pod Mods’ to land on my desk and my first impressions on opening the rather smart looking packaging was – ummm not so sure.

However…

I was asked outside a pub during a family get together over Christmas what that ‘thing’ was in my mouth.

Probably the first time that’s been asked of me in a boozer but I digress.

On replying it was ‘My. Von Erl’ the look I got back was one of disdain with the comment – ‘oooo very grand – I take it you’re a vaper – but that’s not a proper vaping machine is it…’

Given this wasn’t my family [I was a guest] I took another delicious drag and smiled keeping my mouth firmly shut – I’m nothing if not a diplomat…at Christmas…with my ‘special friend’s’ family at any rate…

What I can say is a big yes the My. Von Erl is most definitely a proper ‘vaping machine’ and let me tell you why.

In The Box

I received the My. Von Erl. starter kit which comes with the battery – a 2ml pod – charger cable and instruction manual.

I also received four extra 2ml ‘pods’ each different flavours.

I have to say the packaging is rather classy with the lettering embossed rather than stamped on – very swish.

Key Features

As with any of the new range of Pod Mods the key features are simplicity and disposability.

Simple as in the ease of use is ummm easy!

Disposability as once the pod is empty you chuck it away and click on another.

So add to that leak free and clean hands and you have the perfect vaping device for use on the go – as a backup or indeed as a piece of kit you could take anywhere and not get too vexed if you dropped/lost it.

I guess it’s also a nice stealth mod – I’ll get onto the design in a minute – but it fits into the hand nicely – slips easily into a pocket or bag and you get a satisfying hit without looking like you’re doing an impersonation of a stream train.

Design and Build Quality

OK I like the design – it’s kinda reminds me of an early pregnancy testing kit – or a squashed felt tip pen might be a better analogy lol.

It’s sleek – simple but elegant to look at and whilst the snapping on and off of the pod to the mod can be a little fiddly – it all comes together well.

It is also extremely – and I mean extremely – light with a very low profile. Now if you’re a little like me you might worry about losing it – however I started using it on Christmas Eve and it hasn’t left my side since.

The last Pod Mod I reviewed – the Kimsun Slim2 – had a closed ‘pod’ which I pointed out meant you couldn’t see when the e-liquid was empty.

The My.Von Erl has a clear window which shows you when it’s time to change which certainly is an excellent – if obvious – design feature.

All in all I really like the look and feel of the device – even if it may feel a little ‘plasticky’ to some who I’ve let handle it.

How Does The My Von Erl Perform?

Like I said at the start I wasn’t that convinced when I opened the box – it just looked I dunno a bit say ‘wishy washy’.

However…[dramatic pause]…

It vapes like a bloody dream and then some!

The starter kit comes with an 18mg Tabac [French for tobacco – ooo get me Mr European] ‘liquidpod’ …and it tastes divine.

The throat hit is incredible and the amount of vapour achieved is akin to a good cigar rather than a cigarette.

There’s that extremely satisfying ‘crackle’ when you inhale as well which tells you this thing is a bit of a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

There are no buttons to press – and the green light on the tip tells you it’s powered up fully and turns yellow when it needs to charge.

I used it fully charged all Christmas Eve night [and it was a long one] – all Christmas Day as well as Boxing Day with just one charge in between – which incidentally only took half an hour.

The 2mg liquipod needed changing just once and I tried the Bourbon and Caramel pod which emptied much quicker as literally everyone wanted to taste what that delicious smell was!

So No missus – this is most definitely a ‘real vaping machine’ lol.

What I Like

I like its simplicity and of course ease to use and its super sleek design is nice too.

It fits very comfortably in your pocket and is light as the proverbial feather.

The throat hit is awesome as is the flavour profile with the Bourbon and Caramel a showstopper.

It charges super-quick-fast and seems to hold its power extremely well.

Taking the pod off is a cinch however you might need to fiddle a tad when clicking another one on – but honestly you barely notice.

The clear window to see how much liquid you have left is an important be it obvious touch.

What I Don’t Like

Nothing if I’m honest – it’s a smart looking great vaping mod pod.

Final Review Verdict

It’s a grand sounding name right enough – but this could be the prince – rather than the Erl – of the pod mods.

The ease of use – the throat hit and flavour profile alone makes this an excellent pod mod vaping kit.

Add the fact it’s disposable and you have the perfect back up or out and about ‘vaping machine’ lol.

So if I dropped the My. Von Erl out of my Morning Suit pocket whilst kneeling at the feet of the Queen and it fell under her dress would I crawl and grab it?

Sorry your majesty but indeed I would…
