Vaporesso’s latest addition to their range of XROS pod systems is the Vaporesso XROS Pro, which is shortly about to hit UK shores. We are lucky enough to have it in for review!
Vaporesso are well known within the vaping industry and not just for the XROS pod kits that they produce. They have developed quite a name by also producing some great performing mods and tanks too.
They have scored some big hits with the Luxe X Pro, Armour MAX Box Kit, Gen 80S iTank 2 and the Eco Nano Pod Kit to name but a few recent products.
Their commitment to delivering quality products has been recognised globally, picking up a multitude of awards for their products over the years- setting a record with over 130 awards at the last count!
Is the XROS Pro going to be another hit? Let’s find out…
What Can We Expect From The Vaporesso XROS Pro?
With the XROS Pro, Vaporesso are primarily touting it as the world’s first super pulse pod system! It features the AXON Super Pulse mode delivered by the AXON chipset usually found on larger Vaporesso kits!
AXON Super Pulse mode essentially means that the power output is pulsed to deliver a stable power output regardless of the current battery level.
In addition to AXON Super Pulse mode, this pod system also features COREX heating technology to deliver authentic flavour from your e-liquids and a longer lifespan from the pods.
COREX technology also means that Vaporesso use their own cotton alternative that features Microfibres that are designed to retain flavour for longer. Vaporesso state that each pod should last for around 20ml worth of e-liquid, so that is 10 refills for the TPD version available in the UK.
A new 0.4ohm pod has been designed for the XROS Pro, that is easily top filled and has a 2ml capacity for TPD regulated countries (3ml outside). These pods also feature SSS anti-leaking technology, allowing you to fill your pods mess-free!
You also have variable wattage when using the 0.4ohm pod, with the power output adjustable in 0.5W increments up to a maximum of 30W! Three power output modes are also present, with Power, Normal and Eco modes available when using other pods from the XROS range.
Airflow is also adjustable via an adjustment slider on the rear of the device, aiming to deliver a mouth-to-lung (MTL) vape to a restricted direct lung (RDTL) hit, which is also dependant on the resistance of the pod used. We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.
The XROS Pro is compatible with all existing XROS pods that are currently available on the market.
A power button is found on the front, meaning you can push the button to power the device. However it is also draw activated too, so you can vape simply by inhaling on the pod mouthpiece.
A lock switch enables you to lock the power button and the screen too.
2A fast charging via USB-C can also be found on the XROS Pro, with Vaporesso stating that the 1200mAh battery can be charged from 0 to 100% in 35 minutes!

Design and Build Quality
My first impression was that this was a pretty weighty little device. It weighs in at 86g meaning that it is almost double the weight some of the popular pod systems available, such as the Voopoo Argus P1s. But even though it is heavy it feels really robustly made and has handled my clumsy self dropping it a few times!
Measurements wise, you are looking at 24.4mm x 18.45mm x 119.7mm and with the weight you are looking at one of the larger pod systems out there.
Seven different colour options are available, you can choose from Black, Silver, Blue, Red, Green, Orange and Pink.
Vaporesso very generously sent me both the Blue and Orange versions and these look really outstanding I think.
There’s a premium vibe to the appearance of this device and I think it looks and feels like a luxury item. The edges are rounded, making the XROS Pro feel comfortable in the hand. Although it is quite weighty – you definitely notice it in your pocket however!
At the front of the device, you’ll find the round power button along with the Vaporesso brand name above it.
Pushing the power button will illuminate a (previously invisible) screen towards the base, which displays the current power output, puff count and battery level.
The side of the device features the lock button toggle, allowing you to lock and unlock the power button. The toggle moves smoothly and is easily operated with a finger or thumb. At the base of the device, you’ll find the USB-C charging port.
At the rear, the Avengers-esque Vaporesso logo is found, with the airflow adjustment slider nearer the top of the device. This allows you to adjust the airflow to your preference and as with the lock button toggle, it is easy to adjust this with your finger or thumb.
XROS pods connect magnetically to the battery and are held firmly in place. I’ve never once had the pod accidentally come away from the battery, but at the same time it is easy to remove when you need to.
A clear viewing window on the pod allows you to see exactly how much e-liquid is left and the Black mouthpiece is easy to remove from the top of the pod when it is time to refill it.
Quick Start Guide
Clicking the power button five times in two seconds allows you to quickly power the XROS Pro on or off. You’ll need to do this the first time you use it to switch it on.
You’ll also need to fill up the pod before you first use it and allow it to sit for five minutes before vaping it for the first time to allow e-liquid to properly soak in.
Dual activation technology is used, so you can push the power button to fire it, or just take a draw on the pod.
I haven’t felt the need to use the power button aside from changing the wattage occasionally, so I’ve kept it locked. Which you can do by toggling the lock switch at the side, which can save you from accidentally firing the device in your bag or pocket.
Airflow can be adjusted by using the airflow adjustment slider at the rear of the battery, which goes from a mouth-to-lung vape to a restricted direct lung hit.
Pressing the power button three times within two seconds will allow you to change the wattage setting. This can be adjusted by repeatedly pressing the power button until you have reached your desired setting, then leaving it.
Adjusting the wattage is only available with the 0.4ohm XROS pod included with the XROS Pro. Using other resistance XROS pods will give you the option of changing between Power, Normal and Eco modes.
If you press the power button four times within two seconds, this will reset the puff counter. Pressing it twice in two seconds will turn the LED light on and off.
Low resistance, short circuit, overheating, high resistance, no load, low voltage, overdischarge and overcharging safety protections are built in, along with an 8 second vaping cut off.
How To Fill The Vaporesso XROS Pro Pod
A top filling system is used here, along with SSS anti-leaking technology to help prevent leaks when filling.
- Remove the Black mouthpiece from the top of the pod
- Locate the Red filling port
- Pop the nozzle of your juice bottle in and fill it up to the brim
- There’s no filling port bung to remove or anything, you can just shove the bottle nozzle straight in there!
I’ve not encountered any leaks when filling the pod up, so the SSS anti-leaking system does its job.
On the other hand, I have encountered condensation build up around the base of the pods, so it is worth taking the pod out and wiping the base of it from time to time.
Charging
At the base of the XROS Pro battery is a USB-C charging port and you get a braided USB-C charging cable in the box. Simply connect this to a power source and to the XROS Pro battery itself, and you are set.
2A fast charging technology is included so your XROS Pro battery will charge up from flat to full in around 35 minutes.
How does the Vaporesso XROS Pro perform?
Included within the box are two 0.4ohm XROS pods, which feature a mesh coil. They have the aforementioned COREX coil technology and are 2ml capacity in TPD regulated areas, 3ml outside of this.
The XROS Pro is compatible with all previous XROS pods that have come before it.
I haven’t got any of the other XROS pods to hand, only the 0.4ohm versions that were supplied with the review devices that I received. So I’ll only be looking at the performance of that particular pod.
That did mean that I was unable to test out the Power, Normal and Eco modes and could only try out the variable wattage.
One aspect that really took me aback was how good my e-liquids tasted in this. I ran a multitude of different flavours through the pod, with different VG/PG mix ratios and was really impressed with the flavour I got from the pod.
I was even picking up flavour notes in some of my go-to e-liquids that I didn’t even know were there!
It definitely punches above its weight when it comes to flavour delivery. I don’t expect huge flavour performance from a pod system but this one has it in spades. It’s even better than quite a few tanks that I have used!
The pods do last as well! It took me a week of pretty heavy use to get through the first one and I’m quite sure that I had put more than 20ml of e-liquid through it as well.
Having adjustable wattage, rather than a fixed output as per a lot of other pod systems, means you can really fine tune your vape and adjust the nuances of it. Having the ability to adjust the airflow is a big bonus too.
You can adjust the airflow to deliver a tight mouth to lung vape when closed right down, or a restricted direct to lung hit when fully opened up. I prefer a restricted lung hit and the XROS Pro delivers a very good one indeed. Vapour production is quite impressive too when you open the airflow right up!
I found that the AXON Super Pulse technology really does provide a consistent vape from start to finish. I couldn’t discern any difference in the quality of the vape regardless of whether the battery was full or almost empty.
That is a big tick in my book, as some of the other pod systems that I have used have a very noticeable drop off in performance as the battery gets close to empty.
A 1200mAh battery is present here, however the battery life on this is a slight concern of mine. I found that when using the XROS Pro in the 25-30W range (my preferred wattage range), the battery would run down quite quickly, barely lasting me from the morning to early evening.
Battery level is displayed on the screen as a percentage and if you choose to keep the LED light indicator switched on the colour of the LED will also reflect how much battery is left.
Fast charging is a bonus here however, and I’ve found that it does indeed charge up from flat to full in around 35 minutes.
It’s quite a thirsty little beast as well. I’ve found that I can refill the pod two to three times easily throughout the day depending on what I’m doing, so maybe that COREX technology wicks e-liquid too well for its own good!
Jokes aside, this has wicked anything I have thrown at it! I’ve even tried out some 70% VG e-liquid and had no issues with it at all.

Final Verdict
I have really enjoyed my time with the XROS Pro. So much so that it has actually become my pod system of choice, as it just performs so well!
There is a caveat to that though. I felt that the battery life is a little on the short side.
That may well be down to me using it primarily at the 25-30W range with the 0.4ohm coil, so I’m pushing it right at the top end. I’m not comfortable enough to take it out with me as my sole vaping option, I’ve always taken the second XROS Pro I was sent with me or another set-up/disposable as a back-up.
Battery life concerns aside, it is definitely my pick of the pod systems so far.
The flavour that I get when vaping this is truly excellent and a definite cut above virtually all of the pod systems that I have tried. I have had more expensive vape set ups that don’t put out the same level of great flavour that this does!
It is a great looking piece of kit, that feels very robust. Another plus point is the great performance that it offers and you get plenty of mileage out of the pods. I’ve used all sorts of e-liquid in the XROS Pro’s pod and it handles anything you can throw at it.
Having a look online, it seems that the XROS Pro is available for pre-order in the UK in the £25-30 range and I feel that is a really competitive price point for a pod system like this one. Definitely real value for money here!
Many thanks to Vaporesso for sending over the XROS Pro for review!
Did you buy the Vaporesso XROS Pro? Let us know in the comments below!
Will definitely be buying one of these. I own the 2 and 3 and the pods are the best by far out of any other pod system I’ve used for flavour and ‘zero’ leakage. Excited to try it out
What’s the point of the 3 different modes if you can adjust the wattage?
