The Vapefly Galaxies MTL starter kit, a sweet dinky little stock coil kit aimed at the vape novice.
As a manufacture Vapefly were established in 2017 they are based in China! They have a large impressive catalogue, which includes the Pixie RDA, Galaxies MTL RDTA, Galaxies MTL RTA and Brunhilde RTA, and many more.
What Can We Expect from the Vapefly Galaxies MTL Starter Kit?
With Pod kits taking over the market, the good old pen style mouth to lung devices seem to have fallen out of favour somewhat.
The only other starter kit to really hold a place in this old boy’s heart would be the Innokin Endura T18 starter kit. Yes I still use that one from time to time.
Vapefly have produced 4 different colours for this kit – Stainless Steel, Black, Gun metal and Rainbow.
The device is run by a 1400mah battery with 3 power levels. Tthe Galaxies MTL tank has 9 levels of airflow which can be configured to meet your needs! Vapefly have included a 0.6Ω round wire coil and a 0.5Ω mesh coil; so should we really call this a sub ohm MTL kit?
What do we think of Vapefly’s latest offering to the mouth to lung fans out there? Is it going to live up to the high standards we have come to expect from the brand name “Galaxies”– you decide…
This kit was kindly sent to us for review by Vapefly, as always my thoughts and views on this product are my own after a considerable testing period.

Design and Build Quality
The Vapelfy Galaxies MTL Kit come nicely presented in a card box with an over sleeve.
Galaxies MTL Stock Coil Tank
The Tank dismantles into 6 parts (including the coil) and is made of Stainless Steel, Pyrex and Delrin.
The atomiser measures in at 46.4mm high with a Diameter of 19mm.
Base, Airflow and Coils
Starting on the base, you with see all the normal information, the connection pin is gold plated and the 510 threading has been turned well.
The base screws into the chimney section covering the coil.
The Galaxies tank has nine levels of airflow, one side of the tank has 1 large slot that can use multiple dot holes to alter the restriction of your draw.
The other side of the tank has one round hole that you can dial for an even more restrictive draw (one dot airflow hole at a time).
One thing to note is that the airflow slots do not work in conjunction with each other (one side is closed off while you use the other).
The airflow ring features the “GALAXIES” branding and is smooth to operate.
The coils that come with this kit are cross compatible with the new Vapefly Nicolas Tank.
The two included are:
- 0.5ohm Mesh Coil (16W-23W)
- 0.6ohm Straight Wire Coil (18W-25W) *pre installed
The coils simply push in and pull out, simply slipping into the chimney section.
Glass Tank
Both tanks that come with the kit are made of Pyrex and have a fill capacity of 1.8ml.
Coil Cover, Chimney Section and Top Cap
The chimney and coil cover come as one piece. The base of the chimney has a wide O’ring for the glass to sit around (it is my guess that they made the ring wide so when filling you don’t accidentally knock the tank off).
The top cap is made of stainless steel and screws on to the top of the chimney section,
To fill this tank the cap must be completely removed rather like my old Endura T18 tank.
Mouth Piece
The 510 drip tip comes pre installed on the tank and is made of black Delrin. I found the drip tip to be extremely difficult to remove from the seating when dry, not only because of its small size but because it has 2 overly thick O’rings on it.
Vapefly only supply the one mouth piece with the kit.
The design for the tank has been very well thought out with a good quality of manufacture.
The Vapefly Galaxies Battery
Made of stainless steel the mod holds a large 1400 mAh internal battery. The battery measures in at 80mm in height with a diameter of 19mm. The battery complements the tank perfectly!
Top of the Mod
The battery has a 510 connection with well turned threading, while the gold plated connection pin is spring loaded. The throw isn’t very deep.
Fire Button, USB port and the base
The battery an be charged standing up due to the micro USB port being located on the side.
The reverse features a metal fire button with LED lights.
The LED’s lights are very bright and they do shine through the USB port, which is handy for whichever way you hold and fire the mod.
The battery is good quality. In fact the whole kit has been designed and manufactured to the highest standard.
How Does the Vapefly Galaxies MTL Kit Perform?
For this review I am using the 0.5Ω Mesh coil with Lemon and Sour Apple an E-liquid by Ultimate Puff.
A Basic Quick Start Guide
How to Fill the Vapefly Galaxies MTL Tank and Change the Coil
I would recommend you empty the tank or run down the liquid to 1/2 when changing the coil.
1. Decide which of the 2 coils you want to use. Unscrew the base of the tank and slide out the old coil.
2. Pre wick (Prime) the new coil, by dropping a few drops of liquid into the top of the coil head to start the process of soaking the cotton. I always add a few drops to the side wick slots as well.
3. Slide the new coil back into the base of the chimney section and replace the base.
4. Unscrew and remove the top cap, fill the tank with vape juice. I tend to fill the tank so the liquid is just below the top of the chimney!
5. Screw the cap on so it’s almost closed then turn the tank upside down and screw the rest of the way. What this does is cause a slight vacuum inside the tank.
6. Leave the tank to sit for a few minutes so the coil can soak up more e-liquid.
Tip – Do not over tighten the cap or you might break the Pyrex glass.
Battery operation
The battery has 3 types of adjustment output mode with LED lights
- Blue – Constant voltage of 3.7 volts
- Purple – Constant voltage of 3.3 volts
- Green – Bypass mode
- Red – charge prompt
Vapefly recommend if your coil is 0.5Ω you only use 3.7 or 3.3 Constant Voltage.
Flavour and Vapour quality
3.3 Volts
I worked my way up through the airflow settings to find the right spot for me. I settled on the full airflow (5 pin holes).
Although with the 0.5Ω coil at this voltage was quite a cool vape for me, the vapour had a reasonable density to it and the flavour was very full on.
In fact I thought I might O.D. with how good it was LOL.
3.7 Volts
This voltage is my go to with this kit!
The warmth of the vapour had a slight improvement on the previous setting and the vapour was a tiny bit thicker in volume. While the flavour was good at 3.3V this setting showed a marked improvement for me.

Bypass Mode
I did a quick test using this mode with one of my Nautilus Mini tanks with a 1.8Ω coil in it, airflow open fully.
I have to say the battery functioned very well, the vapour was warm but not overly so and the flavour was great!
Airflow
There really is no getting away with trying to vape this as a direct to lung, sub ohm tank.
This is despite the fact Vapefly included what are technically classed as sub ohm coils.
The airflow when set on its lowest setting is comparable to that of the Nautilus Mini set on its lowest setting, a cheek sucking tight draw!
I have had no leaks in the time of my testing this tank.
Coil and Battery life
I have had the 0.5Ω coil in the Vapefly Galaxies MTL Tank for a week, the flavour hasn’t changed it is still as good now as it was when I first fired it.
Using the tank and battery exclusively I was able to vape the device nearly all day before recharging, pretty good going for a pen style mod.
Pros
- Very good flavour
- Good vapour production
- Good coil life
- No leaks
- Handy pocket/purse size
- Price that won’t break the bank
Cons
- I have no concerns with this kit.
Final Review Verdict
MTL fans are going to love this one!
While for me personally the draw on the lower airflow scale is quite tight the top scale is great.
The kit is small and pocket friendly, with a battery lasts and lasts.
The flavour is out of this world and the cloud production is good! I wish kits were as simple and as nice looking as this when I started vaping.
Would I recommend the Vapefly Galaxies MTL Kit?
To Mouth to Lung (MTL) and new vapers yes definitely!
Would I buy the Vapefly Galaxies MTL kit again due loss or damage?
Not for me personally but for my wife who loves it!
First, thank you for great review! I will definitely buy this. Do you know can I use nicsalt liquid with this kit?
