Getting a message from Mike Rose over at Vape-Mail came as a bit of a shock. I reviewed the Vape Mail subscription about a year ago and was impressed with the offering.
So, being asked to review their line of own brand Gorilla juices was a no-brainer for me.
Vape-Mail hail from the town of Chester in North West England and aim to bring the best and the brightest of new and established e-liquids in regular, reliable monthly subscription packages.
It seems that now they’ve decided to move into to making and supplying their own brand e liquid in a similar format.
The pack I received was made up of juices I specifically chose, namely all cool/ice fruit options.
However, there are such diverse options (12 in total), ranging from mintshake to gorilla dough, you’re bound to find something to match your tastes.
Subscriptions and more…
As well as being available for individual purchase in individual 120ml shortfills for £14.99 (2x 10ml, 20mg nic-salt shots included).
Vape mail also off the option of a range of subscription packages. These start at £24 for 2 x 120ml shortfills and 2 nic shots, available in dessert, fruit and mixed combinations. Up to £42 for a mixed, double combination that comes in at 480mls of e-liquid, not including the nic shots.
Right, enough of this waffle, lets get tasting.
I received this sample free of charge for the purpose of this review and as always, my views are my own.
Please remember that tastes are subjective, and your experience may be different to mine.
For this review I used my SX-Mini G Class and the 24mm Dead Rabbit RDA with Staple Staggered Fused Clapton coils, Chris Grimes, coming in at 0.15Ohms, cleaned and re-wicked between each flavour.
Gorilla Juice | Berry Freeze
Vape Mail Says:
The brand new Berry Freeze is a delicious twist on the classic mixed berries over ice drinks we all enjoy on a hot summer’s day. Imagine the sharp citrus notes of a perfectly ripe grapefruit cutting through the bittersweet berries before hitting the edge of ice to give you the freshest of ice cold vapes. Simply mouthwatering.
I say:
The initial smell here reminded me of the sharpness of rhubarb, however I quickly came to realise that that was actually the grapefruit coming through straight away. This surprised me from a flavour that was selling itself on the berry side of flavour profiles.
The smell was a little artificial, almost like pear drops in fact.
But I don’t really focus on the smell when we are vaping, so I started by taking large hits and noticed a definite sweetness coming through.
The red berries were carried over in a sweet coolness that really intrigued me. The berries definitely start with a soft strawberry and then mellow out into a mixed berry flavour on the back. The exhale that’s just really comforting and the cooling sweetness rings through and makes me happy.
I think this one will be joining me in my back garden pub!
Gorilla Juice | Citrus Freeze
Vape Mail Says:
Unleash your zesty side with our tingling Citrus Freeze. Blended to deliver the taste of a smooth, icy sorbet bursting with the flavour of fresh sweet lemons and the tang of refreshing limes. It’s a perfect all-day vape.
I say:
Surprisingly, this flavour has an almost medicinal smell. A bit like strepsils or lockets, but with an overwhelming candy smell. Really fresh and very citrusy…nice!
After the first pull on this I came to the fast conclusion that this was out and out lemon. I am massive fan of lemonade flavours, in fact my all day vape is a lemonade e liquid. But this offering from Vape Mail brings something else to the party.
I make no apologies for linking to the manufacturers description but it’s the zest. It brings an absolute bang to this eliquid and sets it apart from other, more flat tasting lemonades that I’ve tried.
The coolness is present throughout and added a real enhancement to the exhale for me.
But for me, that zesty lime is a welcome addition to a flavour profile that is here to stay.
Gorilla Juice | Jungle Freeze
Vape Mail Says:
This is a must try for anyone who loves dark fruits and the shiver of a cooling E-Liquid. It is a simple combination but so many of the best ones are. The grape is a classic sweet, slightly tangy red grape. The surprise comes from the interaction between the vibrant, punchy blackcurrant and the edge of ice. An extremely refreshing summer vape.
I say:
Cracking open the bottle I was met by a waft of what I first thought was blackcurrant tunes. However, I quickly came to realise it was much deeper than this. The smell was much sweeter and yet tangy at the same time.
After a good drenching of my cotton and coils the flavour was rich and moreish. The grape gives a deep, rich feeling on the tongue.
The chill is evident right from the start and the blackcurrant washes completely around the mouth.
On the exhale the cooling is very welcome, the feeling on the back is mostly of blackcurrant but the grape mellows out the tang you can often get, making this a flavour I have enjoyed for full days during my testing period.
Gorilla Juice | Tropical Freeze
Vape Mail Says:
As refreshing as an icy tropical drink on a hot day. The flavour profile of this eLiquid is bursting with an unusual mixture of blue raspberry, subtle guava and a very tangy tangerine. Better still, it is all underlined and amplified by the cooling effect. It’s intense, but well-rounded enough to become an all day vape very easily.
I say:
Right then, with a name like tropical freeze I want this eliquid to be a cross between a Twister ice lollies and Lilt soft drink! Let’s see what I get…
On the nose I get a faint strawberry smell which is partnered with the soft citrus orange that is the tangerine with slight, sherberty tang, which I expect is down to the blue raspberry.
After asking my other half, it turns out the the strawberry smell I got was actually the guava. This began hours of mocking by her about how common I am!
So down to the tasting. The flavour here is mellow. That’s not saying muted. It still packs a huge flavour punch, it’s just delivered in a calmer way.
The guava gets you straight away and has a really comfortable flavour, complemented by the cooling factor, delivers a really refreshing vape.
The tangerine comes in later, at the back of the draw. It hangs around the back of the mouth creating a moreish sensation that made me want to take another hit.
On the exhale the guava coats the tongue again, overall reminding me the 5 Alive juice drinks I used to get as a kid.
I was really impressed by this flavour and it is solidly my second favourite of the bunch I tested.
Final Verdict
I was massively impressed by all of the Gorilla flavours the Vape-Mail sent me for testing.
They all have a really confident flavour profile and, for me, delivered exactly what they promised.
The 2 stand out all day vapes for me were the Citrus Freeze and the Tropical Freeze. However, I’m certain you will be happy with whatever choice you make.
The 70:30 VG/PG mix delivers the expected big clouds on a dual coils RDA and the fact you get nic shots included in the purchase price really makes this range one to consider.
