In this preview we are having a nosey at the new Thunderhead Creations Tauren Max RDTA.
TH Creations have quite a few releases bearing the “Tauren” branding including the Tauren BF RDTA, Tauren Solo RDA and the X-Pod mod.
More Info About The Thunderhead Creations Tauren Max RDTA…
As the name suggests this is a RDTA – which stands for “Rebuildable Dripping Tank Atomiser” – which combines the pure flavour output from a Dripping deck with the convenience of having a tank supplying this. As the tank is located below the deck the output is similar to a RDA.
Looking first at the actual build deck – this is a strange configuration with the posts arranged in a Y shape to accommodate dual coil builds.
The coils actually sit just under the screw tops of the post to align with the honeycomb airflow outlets on the deck.
As the coil legs therefore pass up through the posts it makes it easy to trim the coil legs once installed.
The e-liquid tank is below the deck and can be filled via a fill port located on the deck or using the bottom feed 510 pin on a squonk mod.
You can change the tank capacity using the extension kit from 2ml to 4.5ml. In non TPD regulated areas you should get the extension components in the standard kit. I would assume in TPD areas you will only receive the 2ml set up.
Airflow wise there are quite a few options here to help tailor the airflow to your preference.
There is a side honeycomb air inlet which is adjustable by rotating the top cap.
Below that is an independent bottom / inner airflow control ring which has a slot inlet.
There are 6 colours to choose from: Stainless Steel, Blue, Gun Metal, Gold, Black and Rainbow.

Let me know what you think of this one in the comments below!
Ah my apologies 😆, yes certainly will – Arriving tomorrow!
Thanks for this review. I have one of these on its way to me now from Vaporony Edinburgh, but in excited anticipation of its arrival I’m reading all the reviews I can find.
Though you’ve covered technical details and diagrams very well, I’d like to see more in the way of pictures of the RDTA in use, and some dialogue about that. A lot of what you’ve included you can get from sellers online stores already. I think a review needs to be more than that, but I did like the diagrams.
Hey Ade,
This is actually a preview and not a review. We haven’t actually had this in for testing as of yet 🙂
If you have a look around at our reviews on site you will see we go into a lot more detail with hands on images and use.
Be great to hear what you think of the RDTA though when you’ve had chance to use, be sure to pop back and let us know what you think.
