The RDTA Box Triple is the latest from iJoy, a brand I’m becoming a bigger fan of every day, these Shenzhen vaping overlords know how to hit the money with innovative designs that really hit hard in the fog sector. iJoy makes incredible products, they know what they’re doing and that’s that.
I still haven’t put down my Captan PD270 and I doubt I’ll ever grow bored with the Combo 2 RDTA…this, however, is my first experience with an iJoy RDTA Box.
To be fair, I’ve only really become an RDTA lover recently, the way they’re smoothing out designs so that they’re no longer frustrating. The flavor, the flavor, the flavor and the cloud.
Needless to say, I was amped about receiving this piece of mail…because if this RDTA Box Triple gives me the same kind of vaping experience as the Combo 2, which uses the same decks and pre-made coils, well then it’ll be another go-to for me.
The iJoy RDTA Box Triple 240W follows on the heals of the not so hugely popular dual 18650, 200W RDTA Box and is, for all intents and purposes, the all-in-one of box mods.
With its massive 12.8 ml on-board juice tank, extreme versatility with the IMC build decks (12 of them) and the extended battery life and added wattage of anther 18650…it can’t be bad, can it?

Build Quality & Design
The iJoy RDTA Box Triple is a piece of 2017 gear with a sort of 80’s aesthetic. It’s clunky…massive, heavy and not what you’re used to if you’ve never used an RDTA Box. The RDTA barrel’s paisley decorative detail counterbalances the sharp edged, ‘back to the future’ vibe with a little bohemia. So it’s bohemian sci-fi then…I said it first.
This version of the RDTA Box features a slightly new shape, shaped like a shield when viewed from the top, it’s been shaped to accommodate the triple 18650 setup.
High quality, heavy stainless steel construction with the battery door, built in 12,8 ml tank and buttons all contrasting with the rest of the body and the gold base of the RDTA just adds the zing needed to tell you this thing finds itself very attractive, even if you don’t.
The led lit juice tank takes up the top 2cm of the device and you can keep tabs through two little tag shaped viewing windows either side of it.
The windows, combined with the busy RDTA barrel, the huge 1,5cm screw in cap that allows you access to the well of eternal juice, the splendidly monumental, rectangular 2 x 1,5 cm firing button , the removal grip and logo shaped ventilation on the Zenith-like battery door and the two tone coloring all combine to create a mod that’s very very busy…but beautifully so.
Oh, this is absolutely, officially and without question the clickiest button you could ask for, it really defines ‘clicky’, in a way.
While you might not love it at first, you’ll soon start to see how skilled this designer really is…because with all these features and fixtures, it could have been a whole lot uglier but some how it makes sense.
After installing 3 batteries, I do find that the battery door has a slight clickedy click….not exactly a rattle, when in use which, if you’ve got issues, well then it might really bother you, hehe.
Under the monster button there’s a large, 3.5 x 2 cm OLED screen that lights up bright with very finely displayed information….meaning, not big unsightly pixelated numbers and letters, it’s a very nice looking display that’s still easily visible in sunlight.
Beneath the screen, lovely, odd shaped, shiny adjustment buttons which also make other mods look disgraceful in the click department.
Now, the fact that your RDTA is built in (you can remove the deck but because the tank is in-built, you won’t be swapping tanks…that’s the point) doesn’t mean this isn’t going to be a versatile vaping experience. There’s a selection of 12 IMC decks to choose from (including pre-built coils) with every deck style you can think of.
All components on the RDTA are super easy to adjust (airflow), dismantle and replace, all thanks to iJoy’s seriously great machining and high quality, well fitted o-rings.
The cyclops style airflow on the RDTA barrel is massive, almost 2cm long and more 2mm wide, this airflow combined with the extreme flavor I already know I’ll get from that IMC deck’s great wicking system and I’m expecting a great vape.
Prebuilt IMC 3 Coil Heads
There are two of these 0.15 Ohm coil heads included, generously and as far as pre-made coil heads go, they produce both great flavor and clouds…which won’t compare to your home built setup for flavor but still. I find 80-110W to be ideal on the pre-made coils.
Fitting them is a simple matter of removing the RDTA barrel and ring (watch the ring threading on your coil heads and decks), unscrewing the loaded deck and screwing in the coil head. After that the Base/ring of the RDTA will seal off the wick.
Screwing the gold ring back on can be tricky, the threading is scratchy and if you’ve had a couple, it may take a few attempts to line the threading up…
Accessories
I’m very pleased about the inclusion of 2 x IMC3 pre-made coil heads. You have everything you need, your screwdriver, even a brush (which isn’t exactly the best brush around but hey). They’ve also included a silicon cover for the RDTA for when you go to the beach, plus outstanding Claptons for your build. No extra decks included, all 12 are sold separately.
How Does The RDTA Box Triple from iJoy Perform?
Beyond the intuitive and easy controls and that comprehensive 0.96 inch display screen, this device operates a whole lot smoother, cleaner and seriously meaner than I’d expected.
The IWEPAL chip is impossible to find fault with. Extremely fast ramp time, unfailing atomizer checks and accurate TC for SS, Ni and Ti….there’s TCR, a puff counter and you can even rotate the screen. There’s so little wrong with the responsiveness and performance of this chip that I tend to compare all the vape mods I sample to mods I own that are using this IWEPAL system.
Wattage feels true as can be and this device has no trouble kicking ass all day at 150W and beyond…providing flavor and cloud that you simply can’t beat. It heats up, yes, but there’s so much surface area that it never heats up too much.
You have to understand that it’s big, a towering, heavy mod that really has a unique feel and superior vape quality all of its own. iJoy should probably hire me because I’m a freakin’ fan!!!
How To Fill
Unscrew the ginormous tank cap off the top of the device and fill…you might use half the e-juice bottle in one go though, this is the biggest tank ever!
How To Change the Coil
- Remove the barrel from the RDTA
- Unscrew the gold base ring
- Then unscrew the deck to fit the pre-made coil or change your coils on the IMC 10 deck
- IMC 10 deck utilizes big dual posts with easy thumb screws
- Loosen the thumb screws and fit your coils, wicking down into the juice chamber and sealing off with the gold base ring
Stock Coil Performance
The included Captions are great quality, o.2 ohm coils, they’re very solid and easy to fit.
Wow, vapor production completely out of this world and a level of flavor that I just can’t even express. Somehow, this device feels even more flavorsome than the Combo 2 which used the same decks, maybe it’s something to do with that 12.8ml ocean off juice that your wicks are immersed in.
Once you get used to this kind of flavor you’re going to have a hard time picking up a normal sub-ohm tank.
Ease of build
Build couldn’t be easier than it is on this spacious IMC 10 deck, the thumb screws, ample slots and easy wicking system make it one of the easier decks to build on, ideal for beginners.
How To Operate the Menu System
- 5 Clicks on fire to power up or down
- 3 Clicks accesses the mode menu after which you’ll use fire to select and +- to adjust.
How To Replace The batteries
Open the magnetic cover and Bob’s your uncle.
Battery Life
The RDTA Triple is very power efficient, more than 12 hours on a full charge, even at extreme wattages.

What I Liked
I’m a big fan of the edgy aesthetic and extreme weight of the mod, I like heavy mods! The flavor and vapor production can’t be rivaled…outstanding.
Ease of build and the versatility of the interchangeable IMC deck system with its 12 options.
The convenience of a massive 12.8 juice tank was a new and much needed experience. The solid, clicky buttons, extreme accuracy, fast ramp and easy menu system on this IWEPAL chip.
What I Dislike
Huh?
Final Review Verdict
Once you’ve experienced the sheer vaping pleasure, the flavor, the juice capacity, the battery life, the BUTTON…well, you’ll be sold.
The iJoy RDTA Box triple is a testament to iJoy’s attention to detail, machining, and user satisfaction. While the massive weight and size may not be for everyone, there’s not a dedicated home vaper I know that wouldn’t agree that this device does exactly what it means to and it does it darn well!!!!
This is a must have for any RDTA lover, collector or just bad ass vaper, it’s a cult classic ‘all-in-one’ Box Mod.
Would I buy the iJoy RDTA Triple mod if I lost/broke the device? Oh heck yes.
