Squonking is most definitely having a bit of an upsurge and the RAM Box Mod is hoping to catch the wave of popularity.
Despite the sudden resurgence of interest in squonking there are very few regulated ‘lower priced’ mods out there.
And essentially this is a mechanical mod – so make sure you know what you’re doing and understand battery safety and Ohms law.
For those not in the know squonking is getting e-liquid to your bottom fed RDA via squeezing an internal bottle which holds your juice supply – like dripping but without the hassle factor 😉
OK the RAM is designed and manufactured by Stentorian and distribution is handled by Wotofo.
It’s a single 18650 mechanical device that holds 7ml of e-liquid in the squonk bottle – two more are included.
It comes in either colurful resin finishes or the wooden one I received.
So given I’m a recent squonking convert has the RAM got my squonk on?
Let’s take a closer look.
As always my thoughts and opinions are my own.
Caution: this is an unregulated vaping device – please make sure you are fully aware of both Ohms Law and battery safety so please do not buy this or any other mech mod without knowing what you’re doing.
A Quick Update
I’m gutted to say the least!
It would appear the model I received was from the first batch.
You can tell this by the lack of insulation around the fire button and the lack of a battery ribbon.
Sadly in my case the gold plated ring on the 510 that the fire pin makes a connection with has snapped.
Luckily it fell off whilst I was changing the battery so no short or anything more serious.
So I do suggest you double check yours to make sure it is one of the new retail versions.

Nothing to get excited about packaging wise – it does its job and inside you’ll find:

Key Features
Ok just a reminder that this is essentially a mechanical mod – so unregulated and you will need to be 100% sure you know what you’re doing.
You will need to have a good grasp of Ohms Law and battery safety and when it comes to your builds please check our guide as well as the superb Steam Engine for essential advice and calculations.
OK, the box mod comes in a choice of material – Noble Padauk [a reddish wood similar to mahogany] and resin.
As you can see from the photos I received the wooden version and manufacturers Stentorian say the wood has been treated with a waterproofing to keep it clean from e-liquid spillage.
It has an easy turn safety lock on the fire button to prevent accidental firing and a peek insulation ring on the 510 to prevent overheating.
All of the metal parts are 24k gold plated for better conductivity with the spring loaded 510 suitable for 22mm and 24mm BF RDAs.
You also get x3 food grade 7ml bottles which whilst not the softest out there squonk well and do keep their shape.
A closer look at the internals shows a thin insulated wire that runs from the fire button to the battery base contact.
I’ve searched far and wide as to what this is and at the time of writing Stentorian hasn’t got back to me – I’ll update its function when I find out.
Though I did see someone mention it wasn’t a proper ‘mech mod’ because of that wire!
More knowledgeable types let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
The battery cover is held on by two very strong magnets and is easy to pop on and off.
Design and Build Quality
As I’ve said I received the wooden version and have to say it’s nicely put together and extremely light to hold.
The battery cover fits snugly with no rattle however the 510 pin does wobble about a little but nothing to alarm you!
Design wise it is obviously a little boxy but it has a refreshing lack of logos emblazoned on it featuring an engraved RAM on the bottom front and the Stentorian logo on the base.
If I’m honest wood wouldn’t be my first choice for a squonker but using this for over a fortnight and I can report no leakage and what drips of e-liquid I’ve had on the top of the mod has darkened it giving a nice patina.
Overall I’m impressed with the clean simple lines and tidy internals.
How Does the Stentorian RAM BF Mod Perform?
Wow!
I cut my teeth on squonking a while ago with the Boxer clone and whilst I enjoyed it the difference between this and that is night and day.
The Stentorian RAM BF really does hit like an angry ram and then some!
I have used two different bottom feeding RDAs – the Augvape Druga and Goon 1.5 [styled] both with 0.2 ohm builds and a Samsung 25r battery – and this hits bloody hard!
After my first vape I was hooked – this is fantastic to vape on!
Tons and tons of vapour and the flavour absolutely sizzled – so much for me moaning about RDAs recently because this box mod has brought them back to life.
Filling is obviously a doddle and so is getting the pipe onto the pin – however it is all very tight in there and I’ve had to resort to using my ceramic tweezers to remove the bottle before swapping the battery.
As to battery longevity?
I took this out last weekend and was able to vape for a good 4 hours before the battery began to drain – but given the hit it gives that’s a small price to pay.
If you are out and about I do suggest taking spare batteries – but DO keep them in a battery condom or battery case!!! Never carry spares around loose in bags or pockets.
What I Like
I love it to bits.
As I’ve said I wouldn’t have gone for the wooden version but boy has it grown on me – it looks high end and performs like a dream.
I haven’t enjoyed a vape like the ones I’m getting off this for as long as I can remember – it hits hard and really does satisfy!
What I Don’t Like
Hard to say really as the Noble Paduak version [ok wood lol] has grown on me – though the resins do look very sexy.
Maybe the lack of room inside is a little niggle – it is hard to get the bottle and battery out – but hey a really small niggle as this is a great piece of vaping kit.
Final Review Verdict
Dare I say that after this little beauty I’m looking to up my vaping game and enter the world of mech mods!
I guess matching the wooden Stentorian RAM BF with an RDA is going to be tricky – a gold would look good to match the fire button – but the ultem drip tip does match a bit.
So if I was walking through a farmers field and got butted by a rogue ram and dropped it would I get it back?
Damn right.

hi , how did you fix the 510 ? mine is first batch too…thx
Sadly I wasn’t able to fix it I’m not very good at that kind of thing! I guess it’s possible to buy a new 510 from mod maker but to be honest it’s not something I am comfortable with doing or recommending! I know Dean the Vaping Biker has taken his apart and rebuilt it so check his you tube video 🙂
Thanks for that 🙂 I’m no tecchy but what I can gather that wire means it’s not strictly a mech mod and it certainly makes the internals cleaner – it’s a great mod and you will love squonking 🙂 Sadly I received one from the first batch and have run into an issue with the 510 which thankfully is now fixed in the final retail version so you’re good to go 🙂
The wire you are talking about I’m guessing here but it looks like a Mosfet chip.My tuglyfe box has the same wire from the chip to the fire button that won’t let you build below 0.15 ohms. Great write up and I think I will give squonking a go.
