This time I’m going to be looking at the Smok Morph 3!
This new addition to the established Smok Morph range of e-cigarettes is a high-wattage device that runs on dual 18650 batteries.
Smok has paired the Morph 3 with the T-Air Tank sub-ohm tank. While pretty much a standard stock coil tank, it comes with a new range of coils and has top adjustable honeycomb airflow.
Smoktech is part of Shenzhen IVPS Technology, they are better known to us all as “Smok”.
Smok is a China-based e-cigarette designer/manufacturer, which over the years has been quite prolific in production. They have brought us loads of impressive mods, atomisers and pod kits!
Included in the Morph range are Morph 219 and Morph 2, also produced under the same banner name are a couple of Pod devices – the Morph 40 and Morph 80.
What to Expect From the Smok Morph 3 Kit?
Smok has released this kit with 14 colours available: Black, Cyan, White, Blue, Red, Orange, Carbon Fibre, Black Gunmetal, Blue Haze, Purple Haze, Prism Rainbow, Pink Gold, Purple Pink and Blue Green.
And 2 different tank sizes 5ml and TPD 2ml.
As a high-wattage 3rd generation device the Smok Morph 3 mod can fire up to 230W.
It has 2 user modes, Power (variable wattage) and Temperature Control (TC) which allow the unit to fire a wide range of different wires!
The new T-Air Subtank takes advantage of the new TA Mesh stock coils range.
My sample of the Morph 3 Kit was sent directly from Smok for review!
As always my thoughts and views are my own, after a considerable testing of the kit.

Smok Morph 3 Kit Design and Build Quality
For this review, I will only look at the Morph 3 device!
We do have a separate review for the T-Air Sub Ohm tank, please check it out.
Smok sent me the Cyan and Black design which has a gunmetal finish!
Included with my Morph 3 Kit
Is the standard size 5ml T-Air Subtank, x2 TA 0.4Ω coils, a spare 5ml glass, a few O-rings and a type C cable!
Smok Morph 3 Battery Case
This device has a boxy look to it! The mod in my opinion has a rugged but pleasingly sleek look to the eye.
The device material includes – a Zinc Alloy Chassis, Faux Leather and Smoked Plastic!
Measuring 46mm in width and 88mm in height, the device weighs in at 124g (without batteries). I can assure you while it’s a heavy mod it’s very comfortable to hold for long periods due to its leather padding.
The device is quick to fire and does so easily in either hand!
From the Top
The mod has a centre weighted 510 connection with threading that has been turned well. It has a spring-loaded, Gold-plated connection pin.
This device will take atomisers easily with a diameter of up to 33mm!
Leather Padding
A dual-coloured faux Leather padding has been added to the front, sides and most of the back, serving as a soft cushion in your hand.
The leather on mine has stitching separating the dual colours.
Back of the device
As you can see the back has a pattern cut into the metal chassis and it forms almost a bar effect. The metal has been embossed with “MORPH 3”, which has then been inlaid with a shiny foil!
The Workface
Incorporates a 0.96 inch colour TFT smoked plastic screen, that has been raised from the body. The screen is a little on the dark side and can’t be read well in direct sunlight.
As you would expect the screen shows all the normal expected information!
Action Buttons
The mod has a rocker-type adjustment button along with a 2 Amp USB Type C charge port on the workface.
On one side of the mod is a metal fire/action button, which does have a nice click when pressed!
Under the fire button, the Leather has been embossed with the advertising mark “Smok”.
Battery Housing
Operated by a simple pull-back switch, the door has been printed with all the normal information including design and safety info.
The door on mine feels a little loose when open, but with batteries in, it is stable with no battery rattle.
I did have to put quite a bit of pressure on the door to close it when I installed the batteries!
On the inside of the door has been printed with a White “+” and “–” serving as a battery orientation guide.
Battery Sled
Looking into the battery case, you will see a Blue minus and Red plus symbol and Gold-plated connection points.
The battery sled has been lined with plastic film to help avoid battery shorts!
The Smok Morph 3 has been designed well with great manufacturing quality, it’s sleek, rugged and well-formed.
It looks like it should cost more than the actual retail price!
Smok Morph 3 Quick Start Guide
Today I’m going to use the mod with its intended tank – the T-Air Sub Ohm tank. I have installed the 0.4Ω mesh coil that came with the kit.
And my liquid of choice is “Strawberry Yog” from E-Juice Warehouse.
Smok T-Air Sub Ohm Tank Prep
Please follow my guide for prepping the coil and filling the tank here.
Smok Morph 3 Mod – Basic Operation
- Insert your two 18650 batteries – following the battery orientation guide printed on the inside of the door
- The Morph 3 can be charged using the 2A type C charge port and cable. I like to charge my batteries on an external charger and leave the USB cable charging for emergency measures
- 5 clicks of the fire button will turn the device on and off
- Use the adjustment bar to set your wattage or temperature value
Menu settings
- Press the fire button x3 to enter the menu settings
- Use the adjustment bar to switch between – Power (VW)
And Temperature Control options (Ni, Ti and SS). Use the adjustment key to set the data adjustment for each wire setting
- Resistance Range adjustment
- Clear Puff Count via the menu or press the fire and down key
- The fire button and up key to switch between the screen themes 5 colours (Green, Purple, Red, Blue and White)
- Disabling the adjustment buttons – press both adjustment buttons together, you will however still be able to fire the mod
The output of this mod will vary depending on your mode and setting – firing between 5 and 230W in VW mode and up to 600f in TC mode.
BTW the Morph 3 will also auto-detect your atomiser and preset the wattage to that of your coil resistance!
How Does the Smok Morph 3 Perform?
Smok has said in the promotional literature that the chipset for this device has been updated – so far I am unable to find out further info on this!
However – it does have 8 protection modes available like low battery, short circuit and 8-second toot.
Vaping Action
Speaking purely as a standard TC/VW device, the Morph 3 has been golden for me in the few weeks I have been using it is fast to fire and comfortable in my hand. Whilst on the heavy side (not everyone’s cup of tea) I found it a pleasure to use!
T-Air Sub Ohm Tank
I have obtained a reasonable quality of cool vapour from this tank, the 0.4Ω coil that came with the kit has lasted me two weeks of constant use at 45/35W.
Of course, I have used the Morph 3 using other atomisers, my Hellvape Dead Rabbit 3 RTA at 75W and my Hellvape Dead Rabbit Pro RDA up to 100W.
With both these atomisers, I was able to test out the chain vaping capabilities of the Morph 3 – which I have to say was rather good!
Temp Control
While I don’t use temp control in my normal day-to-day vaping these days, I tested the TC functions using a pair of DIY 0.15Ω Stainless Steel flat wire coils.
I Set the Morph 3 for SS at 420f and 60W, the device functioned faultlessly with warm and tasty vapour!
Pros
- Very good quality and design
- Fast firing
- Adequate vapour production at 45W with the T-Air Subtank
- Comfortable in the hand
- Long dual battery life
Cons
- The weight of the mod might be a concern for some
- Closing the door with batteries installed needed pressure
Final Review Verdict
Now I don’t say this often about Smok products, but this is a sleek well-designed mod that has the look and feel of quality to it!
The device performed admirably with all my tests.
Taking into account the size and weight of the Morph 3, I would recommend this kit to those that like a heavy device with intermediate or higher experience.
Have you purchased the Smok Morph 3 or the full kit?
Do you have any questions or comments about it? Let us know in the comments below!
The morph 3 sucks! I bought two and within 24 hours one failed and would do nothing. Now the other one is Wonky. You may have to mess with it 15 minutes to get it to work!
As for the coils, well after three days you will be sucking in vapes juice that the atomizer did not fire!
I think I may go to only disposables
I have the purple haze version. My only disappointment is that my screen is not bright enough. I was wondering if there was a setting to brighten the screen. Currently, it is almost impossible to see in daylight.
