Design and Build Quality
The H-Priv 2 Kit comes in the standard Smok box with a paper over sleeve.
The H-Priv 225w mod
Made of a magnesium alloy frame with plastic side panels, the quality and design of this unit looks and feels the biz. There are 9 different colour options available as you can see I have the Prism Rainbow, while a great looking mod it is somewhat a finger print magnet.
The Smok H-Priv 2 has the same rectangular design with sidebar fire button as the original but now features a honeycomb pattern and carbon fibre stickers on the sides. Measuring 52mm x 84mm x 27mm this mod is a nice handful. The mod has a spring loaded 510 connector pin and SS threading, Smok have added a strip of metal to each side of the 510 and made the front bulge so it will take tank diameters of around 26mm.
The OLED screen is also placed at the top, next to the 510 thread, but it’s well placed and easy to read showing all the relevant information! The adjustment buttons are placed on the opposite side to the large fire button, With the micro USB point under the fire button. The battery door is located on the bottom of the device and is a slide flip up door; the door has vent holes and the normal CE marks printed on it.
TFV12 Big Baby Prince Tank
Michelle’s excellent review for the X-Priv Baby kit also includes this tank.
The tank is made of Stainless Steel, Pyrex and a Resin wide bore drip tip.
The tank dismantles into 5 pieces including the coil.
Base
On the bottom you have the normal information laser etched, silver plated connection pinAnd well turned 510 threading. The base also features 2 wide Cylon style AF slots. Finishing off you also have a crown like pattern that decorates the outside of the base and a washer for your glass to sit on.
Glass tank
Made of Pyrex the one installed is the 6ml bubble glass, the spare straight glass tank is 4.5ml.
Chimney/Fill port/Cap
The end of the chimney section screws into your coil, you have an O’ring here to help stop leaks into the coil above the chimney you have another washer for your glass. This section is also decorated with a crown like pattern, the lock cap opens to reveal a white gasket for your fill port.
Coils
The TFV12 is compatible with the V8 Smok Coils, the V8 Baby-Q4 Quadruple and V8 Baby-T12 Duodecuple Coil come with the tank.

How Does The Smok H-Priv 2 Kit Perform?
For this review I will fill the TFV Big Baby Prince tank with DD Caramel Apple Cake, I have installed the 0.4Ω, and the H-Priv 2 I have placed in 2 VTC5a batteries.
I have to say this right off the bat, I don’t like the TFV range of tanks they are so thirsty and wasteful of liquid, the big baby prince is no exception!
30/60w
I have to say I was somewhat surprised by the flavour from 30 up to 45w with the V8 Baby-Q4 Quadruple 0.4Ω coil. I had the airflow restricted to half (this is no MTL tank, I feel like it demands power) and was able to get a decent vape that wasn’t too hot for my poor old micro lungs, the vapour production was quite good.
Knocking the wattage up to 50w and then up to 60w, the heat did increase as did the vapour production, however the flavour for me wasn’t as good as at lower watts. I wouldn’t normally go over the stated wattage for a stock coil but I just had to, I was able to get the tank up to 80w before I detected a slight burn.
H-Priv 2
There really is only one way to describe the H-Priv 2 it’s beautiful! Comparing it to its predecessor I like what Smok have done with its appearance, the H-Priv 2 is slightly smaller than the original it’s a wee bit chunkier in the hand and a lot heavier once you get the batteries installed.
If you ever had the original H-Priv or a few of Smok’s other devices you will notice that the presentation of the menu system is very familiar that’s because it is basically the same lol.
They have put their energy into improving the TC capability of the mod. The mod will fire from 1w up to 225w and the standard TC values of 200f-600f and 100c-315c.
Temperature Control
Because the coils they send with the kit are Kanthal I put my acid rainbow Apocalypse on top with a dual pair of SS316L Clapton’s 0.15Ω, a cool looking pairing.
420F at 60w cotton test
Dry test first, I pulsed 5 times almost invisible yellow banding appeared on the dry cotton.
I then changed my cotton.
With the same e-liquid I dampened cotton and chain vaped until dry, as you can see there is hardly any burning.
I would call the TC cotton test a pass.
420f at 110w
Well out of my comfort zone, the H-Priv 2 performed admirably; while the vapour was too hot for me personally the flavour wasn’t bad.

TFV12 Big Baby Prince Tank

- Very good vapour production
Cons
H-Priv 2 mod

TFV12 Big Baby Prince Tank

Final Review Verdict
Being a big fan of the original H-Priv mod I was looking forward to the 2nd version and paired with the B.B.P this sure is a cloud beast! I have really enjoyed my time with the Smok H-Priv 2 kit, although beware of the B.B.P tank as it consumes liquid faster than a greyhound chasing a rabbit.
The kit itself is beautifully created, I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t do something more with the screen and menu, however the kit would make an excellent choice for a mid to experienced user.
Would I buy the SMOK H-Priv 2 kit should I lose or damage this one? Yes to the mod no to the tank!
My Smok H-Priv2 display just now whent blank, now i cant see what wattage i have on and how low the battery is. how do i fix this?
If it is still working it might have switched onto “stealth Mode”.
I cant find a user manual for the H-Priv 2 but Smok say you can press the fire button 3 times to enter the menu to turn stealth mode off? See here https://eu.smoktech.com/support/faq/battery_mod/screen-problems
If this doesnt work there is a firmware update – https://eu.smoktech.com/faq/608 you could try?
Failing that the screen might be faulty?
Hope this helps – Shell
