The Rincoe Mechman kit is from a relatively new brand on the market and until a couple of weeks ago I’d never personally sampled a single one of their products.
I was a little sceptical, as I always tend to be with brands that are all of a sudden everywhere in the media, seemingly out of nowhere. So I opened up my big box of Rincoe vapemail, complete with t-shirt and all sorts of extra goodies, with some anticipation…only to be very pleasantly surprised by all three kits I received.
The brand have only a handful of products on their website, many of which have been receiving excellent reviews worldwide…so it would seem that the sky’s the limit for Rincoe.
Their offerings include the Manto Mini RDA kit, the Manto S 228W mod and a product that I’ve just reviewed, the Ceto SE pod system, which I love.
The kit up for review today is one that, I think, has been rather misleadingly named, the Rincoe Mechman 228 W Mesh Kit which is, please note, not a mechanical mod but a regulated one, though it does have a bypass mode. I think this may just be a lost in translation but certainly, Mr. Robot might have been more appropriate for describing this chunky, 80’s action-sci-fi design.
We don’t judge a vape by its name though…so let’s get on with the nitty gritty and see how this very manly kit performs.
This device was sent to me for the purposes of review. As always, my views are my own.

Build Quality & Design
Mechman Mod
On opening up the high quality black and green Rincoe box packaging, I was struck by what might not be everyone’s cup of tea, style wise, but is most certainly a very sturdy and nicely put together mod and sub ohm tank.
The Mechman mod is shaped very much like those boxy dual 18650 box mods of yore…only with squared of corners and “shoulders” at the top as the narrow sides broaden at the top and bottom for grip and ergonomics.
It is by no means subtle, however…and is busy with all kinds of decorative features.
The zinc alloy chassis, which has a considerable weight to it, features screw in, spider web covering panels, with 4 screws at the corners of either panel (no tool for removal included).
These panels form a decorative design over the textures and also decorative panels beneath (see pics).
If you’re facing the controls (one of the narrower side panels), the cover panel on the left (which has a smooth black finish in my case) has a closed centre, with a big Rincoe brand in silver text running vertically.
The panel which the ‘web’ overlays has a fine, dot texturing…so the effect is very striking.
The opposite cover panel has an open centre, so that you can have a better view of the feature panel beneath, which is made of leather (with a very natural texture, if it is fake) and has a full colour design finish.
I have the American flag version and I like it, because I like flags!!! Other options are a British flag, digital camouflage and a creepy wolf design.
There are a few variations of the covering panel shape, the bone version, which I have and the wing version.
If you have the correct screwdriver, you can pop off the panels and change out the sticker or panel…a cool customisability feature.
The narrow sides, bottom and top of the mod have 2 continuous seams at their sides that run around the entire mod…this is difficult to describe, obviously, so look at the pictures to see what I mean.
The side opposite the control panel has fancy arrow style grip texturing.
One side panel removes, with nice strong magnets, to reveal a snug chamber for two 18650s, there is a slight up and down movement to the panel when it’s in place but I have also seen some reviewers who didn’t experience this so it may vary from mod to mod.
The top of the mod features a centralised, SS tank seating, with a deep, spring loaded 510 pin.
The base of the mod has 6 little battery ventilation holes.
The control side has a fire button at the top, which has a unique, light-switch design, which is not something I’m used to but it is very effective and I find myself operating it a little differently than usual as the switch shape allow you to rest your thumb over the button, with the joint of your thumb just applying a little pressure to fire. I really like it.
Below that Is a long, narrow OLED screen that’s very comprehensive with resistance, volts, puff timer, wattage, mode and pictorial battery levels displayed.
Placed on the panel at the bottom are two small adjustment buttons and below that is a micro-USB port for charging.
Mechman Tank
The Mechman sub-ohm tank has a very straight forward design, save the fact that the base and top cap are particularly thick.
I almost feel like they could have utilised space a bit better and added more tank space…although the thickness of those components does kind of add to the heavy metal feel this kit has…and it definitely matches the mod.
The base features a 2mm x 10 mm cyclops airflow slot either side and the airflow is easy to adjust, even with the light horizontal knurling, thanks to the way the tank sides sit flush with the side of the mod…the airflow ring is easy to grab ahold of.
Above the bulb glass tank section is that thick topcap, with a light block ‘knurling’ either side, flat top and a quality, marbled 810 drip tip.
A little pointer on the cap shows you that the cap slides open. So with an easy push you can reveal that large, curved fill slot.
The whole tank disassembles with ease, thanks to big, quality o-rings and within you have a big beefy, prebuilt mesh coil screwed into the base.
Juice ports in the coiled are situated low in the tank so that juice level can get very low before you are forced to refill, for fear of the all-menacing dry hit.
Accessories
I appreciate the inclusion of a bulb glass extra, as I definitely prefer these to the smaller tubes. There is a charge cable, an extra coil head and instruction manual but I would have liked to see a screwdriver included for the removal of the side panels…as I actually don’t own one this small.
How Does The Rincoe Mechman 228W Kit Perform?
Well now…I have to say, I’m impressed.
Airflow on the tank is massive, so I find myself closing that flow almost shut to get a nice restricted hit but it is smooth, the tank doesn’t leak and the top fill mechanism is flawless.
The drip tip is comfortable and all threading and machining is solid.
The mod, as I mentioned, has a fantastic fire button and all controls are responsive and immediate.
The fire is damn well instantaneous and you might find it firing when you are using that fire button during setting alterations, so watch out for that.
I tested temp control for stainless steel and nickel and found, as far as I can tell, that the temp control works well. I’m not sure but I feel like it might run a little cool actually.
New atty readings are accurate and immediate and I had no problem fitting a whole range of tanks to this mod.
I found the interface and menu system intuitive and easy to use.
Power feel in wattage mode is actually high…I feel like I’m vaping at 70W when I’m vaping at 55W but that also has a lot to do with these sweet ass mesh coils.
I almost incinerated that sweet ass coil head when I set the mod to bypass mode and found it hitting at 193W…SCARY.
Even scarier when you realise that it will stay at that voltage and that changing modes invariably involves accidental firing, due to the fast fire button…and, of course, possible scorching of your coils.
Opening up at full voltage on two 18650s may be a sure way to put beginners off vaping for life, so I’m not going to be recommending this setup to beginners, lol!
I tested this mod up to 200W and felt excellent heat distribution with the most solid endurance through chain vaping situations.
I did find that the mod tips over extremely easily with just a light touch…which is a risk to that bulb glass, which extends out past the sides of the mod…it’s a good thing they sent an extra but with the way this thing tips, they should maybe have sent 2.
That said, my first glass bulb hasn’t broken yet, so it must be good quality.

Stock Coil Performance
The preinstalled, single mesh 0.25 Ohm coil head has a recommended 40-60 W range and it operates beautifully throughout that range…with a sweet spot at 55W for me.
Outstanding flavour and vapour production from this mesh coil and absolutely no complaints at all.
The extra coil head is a dual mesh coil with a 50-80 recommended range and a 0.2 Ohm resistance.
Performance is equally good on tis coil and operate a treat throughout that entire recommended range. My sweet spot here is 65W, where the vapour is warmish, incredibly dense and deeply flavoursome.
I can’t fault either coil and was very pleasantly surprised.
How To Operate the Menu System
- 5 clicks on
- 5 clicks off
- 3 clicks to enter modes
- Left or right to scroll
- Fire to select
How To Replace The batteries
- Remove the battery cover by pulling off the panel
- Follow the pointers
- Insert your cells accordingly
- Replace the cover
Battery Life
I found the battery life to be excellent, with a quick and effective sleep function which conserves energy. I get a good 9 hours vaping with 2 x Samsung 2500s at around 55W.
Pros
- Solid build on both the mod and tank
- Cool interchangeable decals and panels
- Great fire button
- Fast Ramp
- Excellent battery life
- Phenomenal flavour
- Huge clouds
- Smooth, open airflow
Cons
- Bypass mode is a little crazy, not suitable for beginners
- The setup tends to tip over with the slightest encouragement
- Slight movement to the battery cover
Final Review Verdict
I entered into this review with no idea what to expect and I came out pleasantly surprised by the high powered performance this mod delivered on all fronts. I won’t recommend this setup for beginners unless they learn to avoid Bypass mode but other than that, and for intermediate to experienced vapers I must say that the Mechman 228W kit by Rincoe is a solid setup with all the things you could ask for, range, flavour, cloud, battery life, good looks and a solid build.
And..
Would I buy the Rincoe Mechaman if I lost/broke the device? I would.
