The Irish vape advocacy group Respect Vapers are calling all vapers to take part in a survey.
Minister Ossian Smyth TD and the Department of the Environment, are inviting the public to complete a survey about disposable vapes and recycling in Ireland.
It outlines three options on how Ireland can address environmental concerns with disposable vapes:
- Ban vapes –Respect Vapers believes that banning disposables will not solve the problem and will only drive the public to buy vapes from unregulated sources.
- Deposit and return scheme – Vapers will pay a deposit when you buy a disposable vape, which you get back when you return the used product.
- Improving the existing producer responsibility scheme and consumer awareness – Vape producers will be required, by law, to be environmentally responsible in recycling used vapes and educating vapers to properly dispose them.

The Dept of Environment is inviting the public to participate in a consultation on disposable vapes. Disposable vapes CAN be recycled but many don't know this.
