Here we have the range of Proper Vape Salts e-liquid for review.
They are a sub brand of the huge e-liquid manufacturer – Zeus Juice!
And when you see the price of these you will be shocked – a “Proper” bargain!
Zeus Juice were created in 2011 by founder Paul Curtis who started by creating e-liquids on his kitchen table in Birmingham! He is a true vaper – here I quote from the “About Us” section…
“Founder Paul Curtis established Zeus Juice in 2011 in his Birmingham kitchen. A bookmaker by trade, Paul fell upon the e-liquid market when his wife, Sam was diagnosed with cancer and he knew it was time to stop smoking. Having tried all alternatives, Paul turned to e-liquids, and frustrated by the lack of big, strong flavours and all–day vapes available, decided to create his own.”
In 2014 the brand started up their own manufacturing facility and still remains a family business with 2 operating facilities in Birmingham. They even offer a laboratory service.
Sadly in 2017 his wife Sam lost her battle with cancer and Paul’s brother Marc joined the business. Another addition in 2020 was Tim Allinson and since his appointment the “Proper Vape” value range of e-liquids was created.
Another snippet of info which caught my eye and basically makes me want to hug the company is the following…
“As a proud and fair employer, Zeus Juice UK is officially accredited by The Living Wage Foundation for paying, for many years, all of their employees a living wage”
They have been nominated many times for an Ecigclick Award, for categories such as best UK e-liquid brand, Best Value e-liquid (under the Proper Vape banner), Best Nic Salt Brand and often come close to being in the top 3!
In fact in 2020 they came second in the Best Dessert Award for “Death By Bunny”.
Plus second in 2019 for Best Menthol / Mint with “Black Reloaded”.
What Can We Expect From The Proper Vape Salts E-liquid Range?
Well everything I have read so far points towards a responsible and reliable vaping brand!
Their bottles are 10ml TPD Compliant with tamper-evident and childproof caps.
The bottles and caps are formed from recycled plastic and the e-liquid is produced and filled within an ISO Class 7 Cleanroom.
They test every batch in their “state of the art quality control lab” and have full traceability of each bottle.
Even better they are manufactured in the UK!
These are mixed to a 50% PG / 50% VG ratio which is ideal for MTL (Mouth To Lung) devices such as starter kits and pod kits (those which have small coils as this is a thinner e-liquid).
Also having a higher PG ratio means this will provide you with the throat hit many ex-smokers crave.
Nicotine salt is included to either 5mg, 10mg or 20mg strengths, to give a stronger nicotine hit without being harsh on the throat.
I received all 7 flavours in 20mg strength:
- Grape Menthol
- Berries & Grapes
- Watermelon Ice
- Raspberry Sherbet
- Pink Lemonade
- Sweet Strawberry
- Blueberry Bubblegum
Thank you to Vape Club for sending me these to review, I will report back honestly on my findings of the products supplied.
Remember flavour testing is not an exact science, your personal preferences and equipment can make flavours vary.
I will be using my OXVA Xlim Pro kits with a new 0.8ohm V2 pod for each flavour.
Packaging
Each bottle is packaged in a box which clearly shows the flavour, brand and nicotine strength. Those who think vapes are targeted to kids with cartoony images etc will like the plain basic layout of the boxes. I have to admit the front is super clear to read and understand.
The rear of the box tells you the nicotine strength and e-liquid volume, followed by applicable warnings, ingredients and contact details for the company.
As with most 10ml e-liquids there is so much information to cram into such a small space (most of it required by law) – that it can become difficult to read and this is no exception.
The bottle label has even smaller text, but like the box the front of the label is clear to read.
Around the label is the same info as printed on the box.
Something which is always great to see is an expiry date and batch number. The batch number shows that the company has proper measures in place to ensure traceability in case of any defects or recalls – which is very reassuring.
The bottle has one of the elongated neck styles, which makes filling a lot easier on kits where there is not much room.
Also the cap is of the press down and unscrew variety which aims to be childproof.
Grape Menthol
Proper Vape Salts Says:

I Say…
I am not a fan of Grape Vapes – so I put this first to get it out of the way!
But I am pleasantly surprised!
The choice of dark Grapes really works and makes this sweeter and richer than you would normally get.
The menthol is not too strong and doesn’t give off any cooling, it is just perfectly blended to match the dark Grapes.
In fact this is delicious.
Those who would be expecting tart sharp Green Grapes will probably not be a fan, so I will have to knock a point off for that.

Berries & Grapes

My Grapey Nemesis is back!
Bizarrely this tastes very much like a Blackcurrant Menthol! Like the Blackcurrant Tunes / Halls Soothers cough sweets!
It really does! The Grape has been blended with the Berries and somehow the result is a lovely Eucalyptus style menthol backnote without the icy sensation!
This is absolutely delicious, the Grape and the Berries are in total harmony and actually fuse to a point where they become greater than the sum of their parts.
I would suggest the name is amended to encourage Blackcurrant menthol fans to grab a bottle of this as they would absolutely love it! Sadly with the name being “Berries & Grapes” it might not attract these fans at all, to be honest I would see “Grape” and avoid it – which is a real shame as this is a beauty!
Watermelon Ice

I Say…
Grape and Watermelon flavours do not usually make me very happy in e-liquids. Hence me getting these flavours out of the way first.
This is exactly how I expected – it is proper Watermelon with a refreshing gentle ice in the background.
Yep it tastes exactly as described and even though I don’t like it, it gets 10/10 for fitting the description perfectly.
Watermelon vape fans will love it, it has a good flavour concentration and the cooling has not been overdone.
Phew – let’s get onto some flavours that are more up my street!
Raspberry Sherbet

I Say…
This is the first of the 4 flavours I have been looking forward too! I love Raspberry and I have had some vapes in the past which gave the fizzy sensation of Sherbet – so fingers crossed!
Sadly the addition of the “Rainbow” sherbet has kind of put a dampener on this one.
The Rainbow Sherbet is actually very Citrusy and steals the beautiful Raspberry I was looking forward to.
It is very fizzy though but tastes like a mixture of Lemon and Lime and the Raspberry has legged it.
Absolutely gutted was looking forward to this.
I would suggest more Raspberry and a more neutral fizz would make this e-liquid score higher for me.
If you are a fan of tangy citrus vapes then I am sure you will love it.
Pink Lemonade

I have had a few Pink Lemonade e-liquids which used Watermelon (yes yukky Watermelon) to add to Pinky flavour.
As a lover of Pink Lemonade vapes when they use Red berries, I thought the Watermelon addition was blasphemy!
Thankfully even the description of the Proper Vape Salts version set my mind at ease as the Pinkyness comes from Raspberries – woohoo!
The flavour did not let me down at all.
It is absolutely delicious, the blending is in perfect balance without becoming too sweet or sour.
The Raspberry reminds me of Raspberry Ripple flavour Ice Cream with a gentle citrus note to freshen things up.
Perfect, I flipping love it!
Sweet Strawberry

Oh yes this is my scene entirely!
So yummy, like a handful of Strawberry Laces sweets.
I would rank this as a more synthetic and sweetie style rendition of Strawberries, it does not replicate the flavour of fresh ones. If you wanted the fresh version then I would probably give this e-liquid a miss.
If you like Strawberry flavoured sweets (candy) and particularly the Disposable Vape style of Strawberry then you will love this e-liquid as much as I do.
The flavour concentration is spot on, it has plenty of flavour without it becoming too “sickly sweet“.
Sadly I have had to drop 1 mark as the description does state “Fresh Juicy Strawberries” which is not quite what you will get with this e-liquid.
Blueberry Bubblegum

Well this is more Blueberry than Bubblegummy!
Nevertheless it is yummy.
I vape Bubblegum flavours full time so I was expecting the rich chewy Bubblegum to be more prominent. It is really more of a backnote.
The Blueberry is nice and strong but quite synthetic in flavour. It reminds me of the Blue Ice Pops flavour. Like those shown below.
I would prefer some more Bubblegum in here to shift some of the perfume like Blueberry but it is still a beautiful flavour.
But if you want Bubblegum or fresh tasting Blueberry then I recommend putting this one back on the shelf. However I am quite happy vaping this – it just isn’t entirely what I was expecting.
Proper Vape Salts E-liquid Final Review Verdict
When you see the price point of these e-liquids, you would be forgiven for expecting a budget product.
But that is totally not the case!
These perform just as well as e-liquids commanding double the price – honestly they remind me of most big brand 10ml nic salt liquids.
The flavour concentration is spot on and in general the flavours are excellent.
In places the description did not entirely match the flavour profile experienced when vaping, so a few marks were dropped for that reason.
Apart from one flavour, I would say the rest are really brilliant and the value for money is off the scale!
If you want to experiment with some new flavours at a low price, then look no further than the Proper Vape Salts.
