Today we take a look at the OZ Slide pod mod. Yes you got it, it’s yet another newly released a Pod system. A first creation by Australian E-Liquid company, OzDrips.
The OZ Slide has the world’s first side sliding pod cartridge replacement feature which has been designed in Australian and manufactured in China.
What Can We Expect From the Oz Slide Pod System Kit?
The Oz Slide is available in two versions, a close pod (pre-filled with e-liquid) and an open version where you fill the pod with your own choice of liquid. We are going to be taking a look at the refillable version.
The device is a mouth to lung autodraw pod system which is ideal for Salt Nic based e-liquids. It is powered by a 300mAh integrated battery the device is available in two colour options, Pristine Silver and a Black Stainless Steel finish.
A side sliding pod cartridge and a unique LED display, the device is also fast at charging which is a bonus.
So what do we think of this new pod system? Can it make the best pod vape list? Is going to be a corker or just worth a trip to the dunny?

Design and Build Quality
The Kit comes presented well in a card draw box.
As you can see I have been sent the pristine silver version. As this is the sample kit I did not receive everything that comes with the retail version i.e. the USB cable was missing from mine.
Oz Slide Pod System Kit
Measuring in at 110mm X 21mm and just 9mm thick, the Oz Slider is pocket or purse friendly, weighing in at a paltry 45g.
The body of the device is made of Stainless Steel which gives the device somewhat of a futuristic look to it.
The Oz Slider consists of two parts, the stainless steel body and a plastic refillable 1.5 ml pod; the device has been designed well and has remarkable good quality of manufacture.
It has a feel of a higher end product.
Oz Slider Battery
The device has a 300mAh integrated battery. The highest wattage output has not been stated in the documentation, although the toot feels to me like 10 to 12 watts.
The top of the device is your mouth piece!
Looking into the side of the device where the pod sits, you will see 2 tiny gold plated spring loaded contact points. The shape of the housing perfectly complements the shape of the plastic pod.
Below the pod fitment is the led screen which displays the OZ Slide logo and battery power status, the opposite side of the device is plain.
The bottom of the device holds the micro USB charge port.
The front of the device has branding stamped into the stainless steel. I cannot find any safety marks on this device!
Oz Slider Side Pod
The kit comes with a plastic bottom fill pod. The pod is not pre installed into the device. It has its own little pink case/cover lol.
Pod Overview
- Material is Ni80 coil resistance is 1.8Ω, no wattage rating is given.
Only 1 pod is included with the kit so when the coil reaches the end of its natural life you will have to buy another cartridge.
The pod is made of black plastic and it has to be said it’s very hard to see your remaining liquid through the plastic.
The fill port is on the bottom of the pod and once filled is to be covered by a rubber bung (found in the box).
The mouthpiece is part of the device body. When the pod is new you will find a silicone plug in the mouthpiece hole.
The pod only fits into the device one way and has plastic rails on one of the edges. These are to help you remove the pod from the device, to which I have to say my pod is a rather tight fit!
If you look at the bottom of the pod you will see 2 gold plated contact points. A tiny airflow hole sits in between them with a small fill port hole to the side. This has to be covered once the pod is full of e-liquid.
The pod seems to be made quite well and gives the impression of being sturdy. However there is no safety or other marks on the pod!
How Does Oz Slide Pod System Kit Perform?
For this example we have fill the Pod up with Large Salts Zest Pest 20mg
Basic Quick Start Guide
Setting the Oz Slider up for use is very simple!
Filling the Pod from new
- Turn the pod upside down and press the nib of your bottle into the fill port.
- Squeeze your bottle until the pod is full.
- Wipe away any excess liquid, do not allow liquid to stay on the connection points.
- Use one of the 2 rubber bungs in the box to seal off the fill port.
- Turn the pod the right way up and remove the silicone bung from the mouth piece.
- Place the pod into the Oz Slider device.
Leave the device alone for around 2 or 3 minutes to allow the cotton to soak up liquid.
Oz Slide Battery
Make sure the battery is fully charged before first use! Mine was flat upon receiving it.
Battery functions
- The screen will light when you first put the pod into the device
- The screen will light on puffing the device
- The screen will stay lite for approx 10 seconds after puffing the device
Remaining power
- 5 bars 100%
- 4 bars 75%
- 3 bars 50%
- 2 bars 25%
- 1 bar 15%
It is recommended that when the battery reaches 20% you recharge it! Over discharging the battery may damage the battery and reduce its working life!
Flavour and Vapour Production
I am allergic to Nichrome and Nickel wires. I handed the device over to Mrs J for her to do the vape test. I could have done the test myself but I don’t fancy being ill LOL.
She said –
While the vape itself was warm it was not a hot vape, the draw was smooth with a good amount of flavour and the resulting vapour was as standard for pod systems!
Recommend E-liquid to use with the Oz Slider Pod System
- 50/50 PG/VG mix E-liquid with nicotine up to 18mg
- Nicotine salt up to 20mg
- See some of our best rated vape juice brands
Airflow
This is defiantly a mouth to lung device; while Mrs J said she wouldn’t call the draw too tight it is on the more restrictive side, even for her!
Our notes
The battery recharging take approx 30 minutes, which was good considering the device lasted 2.5 hours of use!
While this sample kit did not come with a micro USB cable! I found one that did the job!
The coil life seems OK. We have been using the device for over a week and the feedback is that the flavour is still fine.
“It’s a bit longer than I’m used to but the Oz slide felt OK in my hand” her normal every day pod system is the Smok Trinity Alpha with the 0.8Ω coil.
It is a shame that the device only came with one pod and that being Ni80! I would really have liked to have had a vape on this one myself!
Still the only bad report I’ve gotten from Mrs J is that she didn’t like tooting on the metal mouthpiece!
Pros
- Design is good, it looks almost futuristic
- Manufacture and quality is very good
- Very easy to use
- Fair battery life
- Coil life is ok
- Good flavour
- Fair vapour production
Cons
- Only 1 pod included with the kit
- No choice of coil material
- No indication what the wattage is being pushed through the coil
- Product is a little on the expensive side
- Replacement pods are not widely available (At the time of writing)
- Device and pod have no safety markings on them
Final Review Verdict
Well, the OZ Slider is another pod system that my wife has inherited!
Personally I don’t think that the side sliding pod makes any difference to the overall function of the product, however with the body being one piece, it does give the unit a slight futuristic look to it.
The wire for all replaceable pods is Ni80, not good for those of us that suffer from allergies.
Would I Recommend the Oz Slide Pod System Kit?
For those looking for looking for something slightly different or for something to make them look a bit flash, then “Maybe”.
Would I Buy this Kit Again Due Loss or Damage?
Personally, I’d have to say a big “No”. I am allergic to the coil material the device uses. Of course this won’t affect all vapers.
OzDrips I think do need to bring out more varieties of wire type pods for this product even if they just added a stainless steel wire type.
Have you used the OzSlide kit? Would love to here your thoughts in the comments below.
