The OK Vape pod kit review and this comes from a UK based company with a track record of producing much loved cig-a-likes.
Only this week we had a comment on the review of the OK Vape cig-a-like that Jonny wrote back ‘in the day‘ 4 years ago – a very long time in the world of vaping!
They are still for sale and judging from that comment, are still going strong – good to see the old school vapes making a come back – if they ever went away!
OK Vape was founded back in 2012, today they are stocked in Asda and Morrison’s supermarkets…
As well as the cig-a-likes and this latest pod kit, the company also sells a wide range of e-liquid with a plenty of flavours and a choice of nicotine strengths.
What Can We Expect From the OK Vape Pod Kit?
Simplicity and good flavour is always my starting point with either a pod kit or vape starter kit.
Most pod kits tick at least one of those boxes and the OK Vape is definitely a cinch to use – as to the flavour we shall of course see in this review.
You’re getting a decent sized 500mAH battery and the kit is draw activated so nothing to befuddle even the most technophobe out there [me].
The pods are sealed, so you can’t refill them or indeed change the coil – when they’re done they’re done.
OK, I’ll go into more detail as we go on…

- Remove all bungs/covers from the pod
- Pop it onto the battery
- Vape!
- To recharge use the USB-C cable – light goes out when charged

OK…sorry couldn’t resist…this is a draw activated pod kit designed specifically for brand new vapers.
Saying that, if you like a high strength nic salt [like me] this is one for you too.
The starter kit comes with x3 18mg flavours: Golden Tobacco – Menthol and Blackcurrant – so all a brand new vaper needs to get going.
The pods are sealed so you can’t refill or indeed swap out the coils.
Obviously refills are available and there’s a couple that are 12mg nic strength – ideal when you start cutting back on your nic levels.
There’s no buttons or menu to worry about, simply pop in the pod and vape – easy.
Each pod has around 350 puffs, OK Vape says that’s enough for 1.5 days of vaping, however that obviously depends on how much you vape.
The 500mAH battery has lasted me a little short of a day – that’s using it instead of my Uwell Caliburn G this past few days.
Other pod flavours available are: Strawberry and Mint Cream – and I’ll be trying those out too.
Design and Build Quality
The OK Vape pod kit is one of those flattened pen styles, lightweight and extremely comfortable in the hand.
That’s down to what the company calls the ‘soft-touch matte finish‘ – a kind of brushed rubber that is also very grippy and bounces when dropped!
It’s also a bit of a fluff magnet…no big deal in the scheme of things.
The front sees the company logo which also lights up after a vape, and when charging that goes out signifying the battery is full.
It’s a little busy on the rear with compliancy logos, the company web url – the battery capacity and charger warnings – a bit OTT – but hey what can you do!
It’s currently only available in black.
Do remember to remove all the bungs on the pods – there’s x3 in all!
The pods are black with the juice window tinted, you need to remove the pod to see the juice level and will need to hold it against light.
They slide in and out nicely with a tight fit – and there’s zero movement thanks to the strong magnets.
The mouthpiece is another of those duck bill styles and sits nicely between the lips.
So, a very good build, minimalist design and comfortable in the hand…the all important question is, how does the OK Vape pod kit vape?
How Does the OK Vape Pod Kit Perform?
Before I get into the flavoured pods taste test, let’s look at the draw.
Given this is a vaping starter kit, I’m hoping for a tight MTL draw rather than an airy DTL draw.
Find out the difference between MTL and DTL.
With 10 being tighter than a gnats bum, the OK Vape pod kit pods are about an 8 to 8.5 – tight but not that tight.
Not quite a restricted DTL either – but just about tight enough for the newbie vaper.
Charge time is pretty quick and as I’ve said the battery is just about OK and will last depending on how much you vape.
Swapping the pods is a cinch – just remove ALL the bungs!

Took a couple or three puff to get this one going…
Once the flavour came through the first thought in my mind was old school!
It reminded me of one of my first RY4 type tobacco e-liquids, but thanks to being nic salts, no harshness.
It’s actually a mix between a dry and creamy vape with for me mild tobacco notes.
The exhale is bloody lovely with bags of clouds – a very nice tobacco vape indeed.

I Say:
You know what I’m going to say…I don’t do menthol vape juice lol.
However the past few vape juice reviews I’ve done has me warming to them 😉
I’m getting more of a Polo Mint aroma rather than an ice juddering arctic blast.
It’s sweet mint on the exhale but wow you get a real hit of iciness at the back of the throat.
It calms down on the exhale leaving a fresh just sweet enough mintiness that I really have enjoyed.
OK Vape Pod Kit – Blackcurrant – 18mg Nic Salt

I Say:
Single flavours are among my favourite vapes and are a great place for new vapers to start – especially fruity ones.
Once the bungs are removed you can definitely tell what flavour this is – lovely smell.
Again this one needed a few puffs to get going…however the flavour isn’t that strong if I’m honest.
Yes you can taste the blackcurrant, but it is very low key.
And hey, that’s not a bad thing in a starter kit – many new vapers struggle with overpowering flavours.
What I will say is this is a pleasant enough vape – just not enough punch for my tired old taste buds.

I Say:
Not much of a strawberry smell from the pod, and again I needed a few puffs to get the flavour going.
I’m actually quite impressed with this one…
Yes I’m getting more of a fresh strawberry compote’ [posh jam lol] than a fruit just picked – but it is surprisingly tasty!
Perfectly balanced sweetness leaves the fruit flavour to the fore – and once this pod was half empty the flavour grew…
This was the first pod I emptied – that should say it all!
OK Vape Pod Kit – Mint Cream – 12mg Nic Salt

I Say:
I bloody love After Eight mints and that’s the smell [minus the dark chocolate] I’m getting from this pod.
Yeah, that creamy minty fondant gooey stuff – oh my lol.
I was expecting this to be a lot sweeter than it actually is – which trust me is a good thing.
Clever blending means this one does split into two flavours.
The inhale is indeed creamy with a hint of mint – and yeah you get a real refreshing whack of mint on the exhale.
I know that’s stating the obvious – but it does exactly what it says in the flavour notes.
I really have enjoyed this one!

Pod kits are two a penny these days and are literally every bloody where!
Sealed pod kits have always been a bug bear of mine and indeed many other vapers – it’s an expensive way to vape!
However they are designed specifically from brand new vapers that just want to get on with quitting smoking – so yeah I get it!
Better Than A JUUL..?
I guess the OK Vape pod kit is in the same market as the infamous JUUL – so does it beat that one?
Flavourwise it most certainly does – read my JUUL review for more on that – though I do like the JUUL UK only tobacco flavour pods recently brought out…
Faced with a choice between the two I’d plump for the OK Vape pod kit, definitely for flavour – price and style.
It’s a cracking little pod kit for smokers looking to quit, or those of us that like an easy carry high nic salt device we can pop in our pocket or bag.
Plus, it’s a UK company – Back British and all that 😉
I now have this in my rucksack and on occasion have found myself reaching for it before the Caliburn G when out and about – that says it all!
Buy one of these OK Vape pod kits for the smoker in your life and trust me they might quit the lit cigs for good.
