Today I’m taking a look at a manufacturer based exclusively in the UK. It’s OK Vape with their OK Quartz Bar disposable vapes.
I knew I’d seen this company somewhere before. They’re been omnipresent in leading Supermarket chains up and down the UK for a long, long time.
It seems OK Vape have been in business longer than I’ve actually been vaping – and that’s a decade now.
They launched way back in 2012 under the name of OK E-Cig with a cigalike range including a starter kit and refills in Tobacco and Menthol flavours.
There’s every chance I tried that cigalike – It’s how my vape journey began.
By 2017 and rebranding as OK Vape, their cigalikes began appearing in more Supermarkets. A few years later so did their 50/50 E-liquid range – popular in starter vape pens of the period.
To keep up with modern trends, OK Vape released the OK Vape Pod range to Supermarkets in 2021.
It’s safe to say they remain one of the few independently run vape companies in the UK and as from day one, remain focused on providing quality, top drawer vaping products and E-liquid to the vaping public.
What Can We Expect From the OK Vape Quartz Bar Disposable Vapes?
It would appear these are brand new to the OK Vape portfolio – the first time they’ve released a disposable vape.
To begin with they’ve included six highly popular flavours to stimulate the taste buds and no doubt more flavours from their extensive 50/50 E-liquid range may follow.
A fleeting glance at the name tells us pretty much what to expect from the physical design. The clear outer shell exuding the appearance of Quartz Crystal while deep, rich colour gradients are exposed from the body within.
Silicone isolation caps are provided to keep the flavour fresh and a clear Blue LED illuminates from the base with each auto inhale.
Although the design has been done before there’s always something reassuring about having a disposable housed in a toughened plastic casing. Works for me, anyway..
So, being manufactured in the UK we’re assured TPD compliancy and the Quartz Bar holds a regulatory 2ml of E-liquid with a salt nicotine strength of 20mg.
This makes them ideal for anyone transitioning away from the stinkies as salt nicotine provides a smooth inhale while rapidly delivering enough nicotine to stave off those cig cravings.
I do have a minor concern over the 400mAh integrated battery. Will it have enough clout to last for up to 600 puffs. It’s designed to output a steady 10.2W so we shall see.
I often scour t’internet trying to find out info on coil resistances for disposables.
OK Vape have been OK to me!
The Quartz Bar includes a 1.2ohm mesh coil. So now we know!
OK. OK..
For anyone new to disposables, all you have to do is remove them from the packaging, take off the Silicone top and bottom caps and vape. They use an auto draw system so no button bashing is required and they’re pre-charged – ready to go.
In the words of OK Vape themselves “For a hassle free experience”.

Massive thanks to OK Vape for sending these out for the purposes of review. It’s very much appreciated.
I wasn’t able to find any flavour descriptions so I’m going in blindfolded on this occasion.
Blueberry Raspberry
I Say:
Well the good thing is, this isn’t too sweet. And the cooling agent isn’t too intense either.
As for the flavour? I’m afraid it’s not for me at all.
It’s severely lacking any succulence from the Raspberry and the Blueberry? Well.. I’m really not sure what to make of that at all!
It begins fairly promises but swiftly transforms into a taste I can’t really describe here.
It’s not very pleasant, put it that way. If I have to be graphic think of the aroma from a cat litter tray.. Only being vaped. Yeah – not great, I’m afraid.
There’s also a consistent dryness to the exhale, yet vapour production is brilliant.
So Blueberry Raspberry isn’t a flavour combination that works for me on this occasion. Too little Raspberry and a Blueberry that presents itself as something completely different.
It just doesn’t pop on the flavour stakes.
Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava
I Say:
That’s a little more like it!
Some nice flavour blending going down with this one with Passionfruit taking centre stage on the exhale.
There’s a little more sweetness involved which helps to keep things bright and vibrant throughout.
There’s still a subtlety to the vape though and I must admit it still does lack that additional clout usually found in disposables.
But there’s no escaping the tropical vibe it throws out and the roughness of the Guava teams up well enough with the cooling aspect of the vape.
In fact the more I vape it the more I appreciate those subtle nuances. Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava is a decent flavour combo and balanced enough to keep me coming back to.
Does enough to tickle the taste buds while not quite responding in the way a beverage style vape would.
Mango Ice
I Say:
Fantastic! Mango ice invades the taste buds in a very stimulating way!
And I have to say it’s quite an authentic and natural flavour. With single fruit profiles, it needs to be right and OK Vape have ticked all the boxes in my opinion.
There’s just enough succulent sweetness and the icy blast of the inhale is perfectly balanced with a Mango that’s very fresh, very ripe tasting.
It vapes consistently too which is another plus and to top things off there’s a few creamy back notes to invade the palate on the way out.
Mango Ice is an ideal vape for the Summer months and a definite thirst quencher if ever there was one.
A very smooth inhale and flavour that packs a punch. Very appealing.
Sour Apple
I Say:
Flavour packed. Just as it should be with an Apple based vape.
Again, being obviously a single fruit flavour it needs to be on par and OK Vape have more than succeeded.
There’s maybe just a tad too much sweetness for my particular liking but rest assured, the Apple content more than makes up for that.
Expect the sourer elements of the fruit to appear as soon as you inhale.
And it may be the Koolada fooling me but there could just be a hint or two of Cinnamon thrown in. I seem to taste it on the initial exhale before the tartness of the Apple rips in.
A very refreshing taste is unveiled by the Granny Smith and the juiciness of the fruit simply pops at all times.
A quality vape that’s enjoyable all year round. If you’re looking for a flavour to stimulate the ‘ole taste buds, Sour Apple is the one.
Strawberry Kiwi
I Say:
I feel a little bit let down by this one. The reason I say that is because the vape does feel a bit on the dry and weak side.
There’s not a great deal to suggest this on the inhale though as plenty of sweetness is rapidly drawn in.
But that drier quality kicks in as soon as I exhale and that seems to have the effect of dulling down the Strawberry taste.
Don’t get me wrong – you’ll instantly know this is a Strawberry based vape but it just seems to have less succulence than I was expecting.
I don’t feel it’s as consistent a vape as some of the others, either. Flavour begins to degrade around mid-way through the vape and nothing hangs around on the palate.
Obviously for a disposable vape the overall taste is rather artificial tasting too. It lends itself more to a sweet based flavour than a fruit one.
But that’s pretty inevitable for this kind of device. Accessibility is usual the focus here.
It just lacks the extra oomph required for a single fruit based vape.
OK but not great.
Watermelon Ice
I Say:
I get a strong flavour aroma even before the protective silicone stoppers are removed.
And its Watermelon all the way, baby!
Now this is more like it. Flavour consistency throughout and from start to finish with a nice icy blast to chill the senses.
There’s just enough bitterness behind the Watermelon to stop the sweetness of the vape becoming over powering. That’s just how I like it.
The ratio of sweetness to bitterness is on par and really does help to attenuate the overall flavour quality.
So I get some nice bite and sharpness behind the fruit and although highly generic tasting, still works wonders on the taste buds.
Any sourness is pushed towards the front end of the vape, during inhale and sets things up quite nicely for this single fruit profile.
Very refreshing, very flavoursome at all times. Watermelon Ice is more than OK, it’s great. Another one to cool a heated brow during the hot Summer months, methinks.
Battery Performance and Number of Puffs
I was pleasantly surprised given the battery capacity is less than a standard disposable vape.
That may be due to the constant wattage output supplied but nevertheless, the mesh coil delivered a powerful enough vape at all times.
And I never noticed any flavour degradation either. Just a consistent taste at all times throughout the lifetime of the disposable.
So I managed eight and a half hours continuous use from the Quartz Bar. Not too shabby given I was vaping on a regular basis.
In my opinion it’s easily going to last for 600 puffs. No problem.
Final Review Verdict
I guess there is a slight flavour inconsistency when observed across the range of six but overall, OK Vape have delivered the goods.
A little dry at times and flavour blending (in the case of Blueberry Raspberry) was somewhat off kilter but generally speaking you’re getting some rather decent single flavour fruits in the line up.
What strikes me the most is the performance as much as anything else. It’s incredible. None of the disposables let me down during use. No sudden wetness, no flavour fading as the battery depleted. All good stuff!
Maybe we can put that down to the constant 10.2W output and a quality mesh coil.
Whichever way we look at it, the OK Quartz Bar disposable is definitely going to give you those 600 puffs. That really was a pleasant surprise given the battery capacity.
I’d also have to say that vapour production is a cut above the usual for a disposable vape. It falls somewhere in the output of a starter pod kit, if that helps.
More than I was expecting, put it that way.
Oh – by the way! The Blue LED on the base is much stronger than I realised. At dusk it actually radiates up the sides of the clear outer shell. Quite a spectacle to behold and definitely in keeping with the theme for these disposables.
So onto the vaping question. Can’t say burning – we don’t burn things here! Is the OK Quartz Bar disposable range OK?
I’d say it’s more than that. They’re pretty damn good overall.
