The No Vape Tax campaign has been launched today! You can visit it here https://novapetax.uk/.
It is a joint collaboration between the NNA (New Nicotine Alliance) and Vapers.org.uk.
As you may be aware, a proposed tax on vapes was announced in the UK Spring Budget – we cover it in a previous article here.
You can read the full Budget statement here.
What Does That Mean For Vapers?
So basically there will be a tax on e-liquid to be introduced in 2026.
- 0 Nicotine / Nicotine Free e-liquid – will be taxed at £1 per 10ml.
- 0.1-10.9mg Nicotine e-liquid – will be taxed at £2 per 10ml.
- 11mg or higher Nicotine e-liquid – will be taxed at £3 per 10ml.
The illustration below is an example of the cost of a bottle of e-liquid before and after the proposed tax is applied. As you can see it is horrifying.
It is worth noting that VAT will also be applied to the extra tax!
How To Get Your Voice Heard
The No Vape Tax website tells you various ways you can get your voice heard.
The site guides you through how to respond to the public consultation, or you can send your story to be displayed on the homepage.
Plus it suggests emailing your own MP with a link to help you find out who to write to.
Please get involved as this will be a disaster for vapers and those using vaping to stop smoking. Higher nicotine e-liquids will be taxed the heaviest and these are what most people will need to help quit smoking. Also it is another blow to those suffering with the cost of living.
Below is the press release from the NNA or you can view it here.

Fight the UK Vape Tax!
Today the New Nicotine Alliance and vapers.org.uk launch the NoVapeTax website.
We are joining forces to encourage all UK vapers and their supporters to ACT NOW, while we have the chance, to resist the highly damaging and ill-thought-out proposed tax on vape liquids.
This is a huge increase and will also disproportionately affect those struggling with the cost of living. The UK government misunderstands the importance of high nicotine levels required for heavily dependent smokers.
ACT NOW – share it, add your story, respond to the consultation and write to your MP. You may have thought you were safe in the UK, compared with the rest of the world, but this budget proposal shows that we need to act now.
