The Mowell Shake is an all in one (AIO) refillable pod mod vape system akin to the SMOK Rolo Badge, except it has a little twist, to activate you need to give it a shake to wake and vape.Mowell Shake colour options

Design and Build Quality

I really liked the feel of this product. It has a smooth almost soft texture to it. Mine didn’t get scratched up and I don’t think it would.

Aesthetically, it’s a neat design and pocket, purse even wallet friendly due to it’s super slim form. It feels like a quality product in the hand.

The main difference with this pod mod that sets it apart from others is the ‘shake’ feature.shake mowell pod to wake

A simple feature that allows you to wake the device with a shake. It also shows your remaining battery levels by way of led lights, more on that below.

How Does the Mowell Shake Perform?

How to use:

It’s very easy. Charge the device using the micro USB cable that plugs into the bottom, fill your pod and let it sit for a minimum of 15 minutes (please don’t be impatient otherwise you will burn the cotton out which will make the pod useless).how to charge the mowell shake

Once the coil inside the pod is saturated you can give the device a shake, the LED indicator will flash showing that you’re ready to vape and how much battery you have.

Simply inhale like you would a cigarette. This is an automatic device, there are no buttons to press or settings to adjust.

The LED Indicator and battery

To charge the device Mowell recommend using a 5V charger or a USB port on your computer. When charging is finished the light will change from red to green.

When you shake the Mowell you will see where your battery is at when it displays the following colours:

  • Red led: 3.3- 3.5v
  • Blue led: 3.5-3.7v
  • Green led: 3.7v +The draw from the Mowell Shake is really pleasant and the flavour is decent.

The Cartridge:

The cartridges (pods to you and I) are rated at 1.3ohms and are refillable. I loaded mine with Nasty Juice, Slow Blow 50vg/50pg in 6mg. It’s one of my favourites. Nowell Vape pod mod

It was a tad tricky to fill because the juice holes aren’t quite big enough to get the nose of the bottle in. A needle nose bottle would work better but with a bit of patience it is doable without too much overspill. Nowell Vape pod

Another drawback is that I found it quite fiddly to get the rubber plugs back into the pod.

The pod is fairly transparent making it quite easy to see your juice levels. The pod also didn’t leak in the device which is a big pro for me.

It’s a mouth to lung low wattage device that is designed to be used with nic salt e-liquids or high nicotine e-liquids, so the cloud production is minimal which is a bonus for those not wanting to bellow plumbs of vapour everywhere.

The flavour was good. Nothing to get too excited about but definitely did the trick for such a small coil.

However, the battery life (400mAh capacity) is quite poor. In my testing I found the device would require recharging frequently throughout the day.

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Decent flavour
  • Easy to detect battery life
  • Portability
  • No leaking which frequently plagues pod systems
  • Socially acceptable vapour production
  • Light and feels nice to hold
  • Good range of colours

Cons:

  • Fiddly to refill the pods
  • Only one pod in box

Final Verdict

The Mowell Shake is a nice little pod system sold at a more than reasonable price, $18 or so I believe. It’s pocket friendly and the draw and flavour are both more than acceptable. Overall I liked it, if it was a little easier to refill and included a second pod I would have liked it even more!

I’m Kingerax, a thirty-something vape enthusiast, born and raised in Manchester. I have an MA in English and work full time in Financial Regulatory Affairs. I live with my husband (also a Manc!) in South West London, with our old guinea pig Eve. I first tried e-cigarette’s back in 2011 and flirted with vaping until April 2017 when I made the switch for good. It took me a long time to commit to vaping, in-part because I was poorly informed and the media scaremongering did frighten me, and, in-part because I’d bought the wrong set ups. The world of vaping takes some time to get your head around with all the terms and jargon. For me, it’s really important to lobby the industry and their regulations in the right way and to give you clear information on e-cigarette products. I have a passion for starter kits despite primarily being a sub-ohm vaper. The Innokin T18E pen kit with a bottle of 18mg 50/50 eliquid was finally what turned me from a 15 year pack-a-day smoker into an ex-smoker. All I needed was the right kit, the right eliquid, and someone to explain what priming a coil was. I’m reviewing because I want you to be able to make informed choices about what’s on the market and what’s right for you. I’m always happy to answer any questions.
