MOTI is based in Las Vegas USA and has been around some time but have only just begun releasing pod system kits, so have they hit the jackpot with this particular set-up?
The company has the MOTI pod system I’m reviewing here, and also the disposable MOJO device, which as you’ll see in my final thoughts, has had, shall we say, some technical issues.
Founded by two former smokers, MOTI’s mission was to:
…create and conceive a device that was both quality and affordable.
The obvious question is after years of development, have they pulled that off?
What Can We Expect From The MOTI Pod Kit?
It’s a stylish device to look at and comes in an array of eye-catching colours.
There’s a 500mAH internal battery and the retail kit comes with an open pod which means it can be refilled with your favourite e juice. MOTI is also in the process of producing closed flavoured pods and they’ve kindly sent me 5 to put to the taste test.
For the record, MOTI sent me two devices and a packet of open coils free of charge – thank you – and it goes without saying freebies in no way influence my thoughts and opinions.
Right, let’s see if they’ve created a device that will give smokers a satisfying experience and the MOTIvation to quit?

Key Features
The MOTI is obviously a pod kit and has a relatively smallish 500mAH internal battery and is available with re-fillable 1.8ml pods or a variety of closed flavoured ones.
The coil is honeycomb ceramic – similar to the FEELM – and according to MOTI is “6th generation” with a resistance between 1.2 to 1.5ohm.
There’s no fire button as this one’s draw-activated, however, the LED light does have some functions:
- Brightens whilst vaping
- Flickers when the device is at low power
- Solid light whilst charging
- Flashes x3 and shuts off when fully charged
The pre-filled pods are self-explanatory – simply snap them onto the pod and the magnets take hold – whilst those you can fill are refreshingly simple to use:
- Pull off the black top cap from the pod
- Remove the silicone bung
- Fill via either of the two fill ports – NOT the centre hole!
- Replace bung
- Replace top cap
- Vape!
All very simple and ideal for a brand new vaper.
Design and Build Quality
Straight off the bat, the MOTI pod kit is a stylish looking set-up, think flattened out pen-style very similar to the SMOK Infinix 2 but not as angular – it certainly won’t roll off your desk.
the MOTI logo seems to be different on the various colours – I received x2, the gun-metal and the white, the latter having the LED behind the letter O in the logo, whilst the former has the name on the bottom of the device.
The pods all have the same black top-cap and the flavoured pre-filled ones have a coloured cover on the base you need to remove before vaping.
The build isn’t bad, however, I have noticed a couple of dinks – marks and scratches – particularly on the white one. I’m guessing this is from pulling in and out of my pocket where I keep my keys, saying that the paint job isn’t that bad and it does feel solidly made and still lightweight.
The pods only fit in one way and are held tight and snug by pretty strong magnets and there’s no rattle whatsoever.
So, looks good, not a bad build, and of course, the million-dollar question is, how does the MOTI pod kit vape?
How Does the MOTI Pod Kit Perform?
I’ll start with the open or refillable pod set-up as that’s the kit you get retail.
I found filling to be an absolute cinch – but do keep an eye on that stopper under the top-cap – it does have a tendency to bounce off your desk!
The pods are clear so you can see your juice level and once filled I left it to stand for 10 minutes. Incidentally, those fill ports are quite small and I did find a couple of nozzles were a tight fit so you might want to decant some juice into bottles with smaller of needle ones.
I used x2 types of juice – a tobacco flavoured vape juice with a 50/50 VG and PG blend and also a 70/30 mix to see how the MOTI pods handled different viscosity.
BTW MOTI recommends this pod kit for nicotine salts – sadly I’m all out so couldn’t put those to the test!

Charge time was a little slow at 50 minutes and there’s pass-thru so you can vape whilst the device is charging.
Using each of the pod kits separately I was getting about 6 to 8 hours vape time before needing to recharge – so not bad battery life. BTW the company reckons you can get 24 hours vaping from one charge…
50:50 VG PG
No problems filling as the nozzle was thin enough to fit in no bother.
I let the coil prime for a good ten minutes and to be honest wasn’t that impressed by the first hit.
Patience is a virtue they tell me and once that coil broke in – after around half a fill vaped – the flavour whilst not popping was on the better side of good with decent clouds too.
Chain vaping saw no dry hits so the wicking is very good indeed.
Over three weeks in and so far I’ve had no leaks from the runnier 50:50 VG/PG juice whatsoever, and as I’ve said they’ve been out and about in my pocket a lot.
Good vapour too.
70:30 VG PG
Just a slight issue with filling as the nozzle from the 12 Monkeys Origins Papio was a little large but I got there in the end.
The flavour was obviously nowhere near a dripper or tank or come to that those pod kits using the FEELM system. But to give a bit of credit where it’s due, the flavour was just a tad over the better side of good, especially once half a fill in and the coil settled.
Again and despite being 70/30 VG PG, the coil kept up with wicking without breaking a sweat and no hint of a dry hit.
I do have to say this is probably better with 50/50 blends and obviously with nic salts.

Very good vapour too but no way can you really get even the most restricted lung hit.
How Tight A Draw Is the MOTI Pod Kit?
Now this is where they’ve absolutely nailed it and then some!
This is an extremely tight vape – but not uncomfortably so.
There’s no airflow control so you get what you get and if you like a very restricted Mouth to Lung (MTL) vape then this pod is for you.
I do prefer a more airy vape even on MTL devices, however even if this one is around the 9/10 mark with 10 being the tightest, I still quite enjoyed it.
I’d definitely say this is one for smokers looking to start vaping as the draw is very reminiscent of a lit cigarette.
Pre-Filled Pods
The website is a little confusing as there’s no listing of the flavoured filled pods anywhere I can see!
They do exist as I’ve found them online lol. Again I’m not sure how many there actually is, I’ve received x5 so lets put them to the taste test.
The flavoured pods are 20mg nic salt-based and are 1.8ml capacity.
Watermelon Ice
Nope, I don’t do menthol and trust me if you do this one is ice for your brain!
Love the watermelon flavour that comes in on the inhale, but a split second later that brain freeze hits!
Too icy for me, but real menthol lovers will love it.
Lemon Tea
Lemon is one of my go-to e-liquid flavours and the smell off this pod is divine.
Wow is all I can say talk about a lemon face – this one is tart!
No sweeteners whatsoever and trust me after a few draws you get used to it.
Palate cleansing – fresh and extremely refreshing – love this one!
Menthol
Yikes, yet another brain freeze!
As I always say I don’t do menthol vapes at all and could only manage a couple of hits off this one!
Another one for the brain freeze vaping freaks out there lol.
Mango Ice
Again lovely split-second fruity inhale before that bloody ice takes over!
Not more to say really – apart from the obvious – I don’t do menthol lol.
I have a feeling the lovers of strong menthol fruity vapes will love the ones MOTI has mixed 😉
Tobacco
Ah, more on my flavour profile.
If like me you like a full-bodied almost harsh tobacco flavoured e-liquid that comes with a hint of sweetness, you’ll love this one!
Despite being nic salt based this has a very good throat hit – actually made me cough a couple of times!
Love this one!
Mung Bean
Say WHAT?
Anyone who watched the US Office will know that Creed grew these under his desk filling the place with the smell of ‘old men’ lol.
Sprouting mung beans can and do stink the place out so I was a little nervous trying this one!
Whilst nowhere near smelling as bad there is a weird aroma off this one that I can’t put my finger on.
It’s quite sweet if a little cloying with a coolada effect from the exhale to the inhale.
Leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I do not like this one at all.
Weird is the word!
Pros
- Tight draw!
- Good vapour
- Flavour OK
- Nice design
- Reasonably well built
- Simple to use
- Quick charge
- Decent battery life
- Pods last well
- Open or closed pods
- Good price-point
- Good braided USB cable
Cons
- Fill ports could be larger
- Flavour could be tweaked a little
- White device marks easy
- Lanyard only available separately
- Pre-filled pods a little pricey
Final Review Verdict
Let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way first.
MOTI is the company behind the disposable MOJO device that has had reports of over-heating issues.
I received a couple of MOJO devices before these were reported, and have used them out and about until empty with no issues at all.
The company says they’ve ironed out the problems from the earlier batch of the MOJO. However, I won’t be reviewing them as I was just sent them for my thoughts which will be winging their way to the company.
OK back to the MOTI pod kit – which has NOT had any such overheating issues.
Look, it’s yet another pod kit, with nothing really innovative going on at all, apart from that 6th Generation Honeycomb ceramic coil I suppose.
Like most out there, it’s simple to use and it’s good you can choose either open or closed pods.
It’s certainly good looking and lightweight so ideal for out and about or as a back-up, particularly with nic salts.
Flavour whilst slightly on the better side of good in the open pods certainly hasn’t made my taste buds dance with joy. It is fair to say the flavours in the closed pods are most definitely strong – those ice and menthol ones, in particular, are impressively potent lol.
As for that mung bean? *shudders* lol.
I said earlier the tightness of the draw is a key factor here, it’s very tight and I guess if you’re a smoker looking for MOTIvation to quit, this one might be one to consider.
Hi Neil,
I love my moti but it is no longer available in Australia, can you please recommend a device which is similar.
Thank you,
Susie
We have a list of our favourite pod kits here – but as a personal recommendation…
Any of the Oxva Xlim kits, Uwell Caliburn A range or Voopoo Argus pod kits are all excellent.
