Today I’ve got my hands on another extended puffer – it’s the Lost Vape OB5500 disposable vape.

Please note: This product is not available in the UK as it doesn’t meet TPD regulations. So only available for readers outside TPD regulated countries.

LV OB5500 main pic Lost Vape were established back in 2014 by entrepreneur and innovator Frank Guo.

The goal was, and still is, to deliver an unprecedented vaping experience to all customers.

This can be demonstrated with their vast catalogue including high end devices such as the Centaurus and Thelema box Mods designed for advanced users, UB Pro Pod tank for sub ohm vapers and the Ursa Pod kit range for the beginner vaper.

Disposables dramatically changed the vaping landscape due to their ease of use among transitioning vapers, something Lost Vape were quick to pick up on. The Orion Bar 7500 and Orion Bar 10K were a direct response to their rising demand.

The OB5500 disposable certainly has unique visuals but how does it perform?

What Can We Expect From the Lost Vape OB5500 Disposable Vapes?

Lost Vape don’t seem to do TPD compliant disposables. Each one I’ve been sent for review has catered for those with an enduring constitution.

Outer carton of the LV OB5500 disposable vapeBy this I mean a drastically increased puff count with 50mg salt nicotine strength to boot!

The OB5500 lives up to its name, offering up to 5.5K puffs – achievable through type C USB charging on the base of the device.

ob5500 - charging

It has an integrated battery capacity of 500mAh so it’ll be interesting to see how long it takes before I’m reaching for that charging cable.

Note: Don’t go reaching inside the box for the cable – it isn’t included so Lost Vape are assuming you already have one.

We also get airflow adjustability and the OB5500 is being touted for use as either a MTL (Mouth To Lung) or RDL (Restrictive Direct Lung) vape. We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.

ob5500 - airflow

Versatility – gotta love it!

An extended puff count means additional E-liquid. The OB5500 comes with 14ml and yes – it contains 50mg salt nicotine for the hardcore vaper out there.

.. I guess after a decade of vaping I fall into that category! 😉

It contains a 1.0ohm mesh coil to deliver a consistently flavoursome vape every time.

Appearance

Artistic is definitely one word I could use. Can’t say I’m particularly a fan of the imagery but of course many others will disagree with me.

Artistic design of LV OB5500 disposable vapeCall me boring (You’re boring!) but a straight forward representation of the included flavour would’ve suited me more.

And in an obscure kind of way you’re still getting that with the flavour name printed as well as all round colour coding with each disposable.

Airflow adjustability and USB charging on LV OB5500 disposable

The top and bottom have been curved for additional comfort in the hand but place it on any given surface and..

Are you old enough to remember Weebles? The OB5500 wobbles but it doesn’t fall down.

Cute. But still bloody annoying though! lol

Clear mouthpiece of LV OB5500 disposable vape

The mouthpiece is crystal clear. Always looks ace on first appearances but will inevitably gather condensate and debris. That ain’t a good look..

It certainly feels comfortable enough during use and the opening is definitely designed for a RDL vape at the most.

There are a total of 10 flavours to choose from. Blue Razz Lemonade, Pineapple Coconut, Kiwi Passionfruit Guava, Pink Lemonade Mint, Kiwi Berry, Creamy Candy, Strawberry Watermelon.

I’ve been sent Fresh Mint, Strawberry Dragon fruit and Triple Berry.

ob5500 - features

Massive shout out to Lost Vape for sending these over for the purposes of review.

As always, these are just my honest thoughts and opinions. Yours may wildly differ should you decide to partake.

Fresh Mint

Fresh MintLV Says:

A sweet and icy Mint & Menthol blend

I Say:

A cool start to proceedings!

Dare I say this for fear of ridicule. Despite the 50mg salt nicotine strength, the inhale is still incredibly smooth. Boy is that a relief. OK, I instantly knew I’d taken in the nic volume but a pleasant surprise on the inhale nevertheless.

Without doubt this is a fresh Mint. Not Spearmint, Peppermint or the kind you get in Toothpaste. It’s a very good rendition, in my opinion.

As stated, the inhale is very smooth and the Menthol is spot on. It really does help to bring out the punch of that Mint.

Yes, it has its fair share of sweetness but hasn’t been overused in all fairness.

It complements the overall flavour quite nicely if you ask me.

A fresh Mint with Menthol is always going to be a winner in my eyes and a great wake up call first thing in the morning.

An excellent palate cleanser too. If you’re a transitioning vaper who looks back teary eyed on the days of Menthol cigarettes – give Fresh Mint a blast.

I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy it.

Strawberry Dragon Fruit

Strawberry Dragon FruitLV Says:

An exotic medley of juicy Strawberries and a mouth watering Dragon Fruit

I Say:

Disposable vapes usually emanate a flavoursome vibe when ripped from their blister bags.

Rather ominously that’s not the case with Strawberry Dragon Fruit. (Cue the shifty eyes!)

In many ways that’s just the start of my curiosity.

How do I describe this one? The only way I can. With what springs instantly to mind. A vape version of hairspray / Hair Lacquer. Hear me out..

You know the usual smell or odour of hairspray? Think of that, only passing through the mouth and down the throat. The exhale is simply repulsive!

The inhale presents us with the usual soothing chill – no issues there and again, rather nicely balanced. It’s caught up in a sensibly proportioned level of sweetness.

As I say, the exhale is where it all falls apart. There’s not one trace of Strawberry to be found. Dragon Fruit is usually included to accompany or boost the main ingredient. It’s not really known for accurate blending because of its subtle nuances.

There’s also that dreaded ammonia background, ready to pounce towards the tail end of the vape.

Needless to write, it hasn’t taken me very long to discard Strawberry Dragon Fruit.

.. I’m not exactly in Harmony with this one.

Triple Berry

Triple BerryLV Says:

Delicious Blueberry, Raspberry and Blackberry flavours mixed into one smooth vaping experience

I Say:

Not bad, not that great either.

I’d have to say out of the three tested, this is the most muted in terms of flavour.

Not necessarily a bad thing – I’m not the biggest fan of Blueberry vapes and were it more concentrated for flavour, this fruit would have put a dampener on the overall taste experience.

But it is not necessarily a good thing either! There’s not really much I can say about the exhale. It’s definitely the unfinished article. I can make out traces of a blend, Blackberry being slightly more focused than any other berry on offer.

The sweetness of the vape doesn’t seem to work in unison with the flavour, either.

Rather curiously, the chill of the inhale leaves something of a raspy, cutting edge post vape. I’m not particularly keen on that effect as it resonates far too long.

Almost in the way a good Curry invades the lining of the throat. Only without the sweaty brow!

So I’m stuck in the middle with Triple Berry. The fusion of dark fruits just doesn’t come together here. The after taste isn’t anything to write home about, either.

Lost Vape can produce much better than this, I do know.

Battery Performance and Number of Puffs

The factory charge gave me 13 hours use. I thought that was quite impressive for a battery rating of 500mAh.

Remember too that I’m not your average vaper. I do vape a lot. There were few signs of battery exhaustion, either. Flavour quality was pukka throughout use, only marginally dipping just before needing a wall socket.

Once the battery has fully depleted, the White LED on the base flashes ten times and the disposable ceases to function.

It takes 70 minutes to rejuvenate the battery, all the while that White LED remains solid. When it switches off you’re good to go again.

Note: It’s not possible to vape while the disposable is recharging.

The wall socket charge gave me a further 12 hours use and was still chugging away when the flavour did finally become too weak to enjoy. Vapour production was failing and the last thing to go was the cooling effect of the vape.

So weighing things up I estimate somewhere in the region of 2,000 puffs. Not quite the figure being touted.

The OB5500 held out for three days.

As stated, I vape a lot so the average vaper can expect it to last for anything up to a week. While only needing to charge it the once.

Final Review Verdict

With 50mg salt nicotine included I simply had to keep the airflow as wide open as possible.

Lost Vape are pushing the envelope when it comes to restriction, though. Even wide open it’s a very, very RDL vape. So much so that I found it easy to use the setting as a MTL vape too.

For this reason I wouldn’t suggest making much change to the airflow. To me, it almost makes the slider redundant.

But for the ultimate MTL with additional sweetness being squeezed out, gently nudge it to around mid position. If you close it, you close it if you get what I mean. Totally pointless.

When it comes to battery indication you’re also restricted to a single White LED from the base of the disposable. I would much prefer to have seen the usual Green, Blue and Red as it passes through various stages of depletion.

It is what it is, I guess.

The battery holds up remarkably well between charging and I had no issues whatsoever with the sensitive auto draw. It worked flawlessly.

I just don’t think I got the best fruity flavours on offer. As always though, taste is subjective and you may have a different experience.

lost-vape-ob5500-disposable-vape-reviewIt's more about performance than flavour with the Lost Vape OB5500 disposable vapes. Yes, taste is subjective but the way these ones are blended is just not for me. Of course, I've only sampled three and Fresh Mint was flawless. Fruit offerings didn't fare so well, unfortunately.
