Let’s take a look and review the new Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer which as the name suggests is made for vaping on dry herbs.
Yup – that includes cannabis flower and leaf – however as that is illegal here in the UK for recreational use – for this review I’ll be using legal CBD Flower…
Lookah has been around for a very long time – est 2009 – and in particular specialize in stunning glass bongs and water pipes, some of which are absolute works of art.
Based in Los Angeles, they stock a wide range of products and to be honest I could spend a bloody fortune there lol.
The Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer is the first the company has brought out – so it will be interesting to see if their vast knowledge has created a most excellent device…
What To Expect From the Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer
Straight out of the box and this looks like one of the easiest to operate dry herb vaporizers I’ve ever used – and I’ve used many.
The clue is in the name when it comes to the design – as you can see it really does resemble an ice cream cone.
There’s x4 temperature settings which I shall be testing and the ceramic oven has a stopper that can reduce the fill.
A reminder that vaporizers can be used with all kinds of herbs such as spearmint and even catnip and in the future I will add a guide as to what each offers the user.
OK, let’s take a look at this smart looking entry priced dry herb vaporizer.
For the record this was sent to me free of charge for the purpose of this review direct from Lookah – thank you – and as always freebies in no way affect the thoughts or opinions of this old stoner…really dude…really 😉

Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer – Temperature Settings
Once the device is turned on using x5 clicks – you scroll through the temperature settings with a single press of the fire button.
The Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer vibrates when the temperature is reached and ready to vape.
- Level 1:Green – 392°F ( GETTING STARTED: Low temperature with less vapor, plenty of terpenes and rich flavor, suitable for first hits on the fresh chamber of flower and flavor chasers)
- Level 2: Blue – 410°F (LIGHTLY TOASTED: Good and smooth taste, slightly hotter vapor with a good level of release)
- Level 3: Purple – 428°F (HALF BAKED: Smooth and more robust vapor, slight flavor loss, suitable towards the end of a session)
- Level 4: White – 446°F (FULLY BAKED: Maximum vapor production, but high terpenes and flavor depletion, suitable for experienced users)
Incidentally you have 240 seconds to vape on your filling before the device cuts off and you’ll need to reheat.
Design and Build Quality
It really is a very smart looking piece of kit that really does resemble an ice cream – nice choice of colours too.
The fire button is very clicky indeed and the cleaning tool slots into the base.
The top/mouthpiece is held on by strong magnets and the capacity of the oven can be altered by removing the silicone stopper which also can alter the airflow albeit slightly.
It does feel a little plasticcy for want of a better word, however certainly NOT cheap and feels like it will take a few knocks.
The oven features a nano ceramic heating element – which in my experience really does offer a cleaner tastier vape.
OK so the Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer looks good and has a really cool design…so how does it vape?
How Does the Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer Perform?
Given the recreational use of cannabis is illegal here in the UK, for this review I used the last of my perfectly legal CBD Flower – the Artisan CBD Frosted Kush – sent to me for the Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer review.
I ground the flower to about the same kind of size as herbs found in jars and loosely packed it into the oven/chamber.
I know the taste of this CBD Flower very well indeed, so let’s see how it vapes through the x4 temperature levels.
Level 1:Green – 392°F
Ummm not so sure this temperature level is ideal ‘for flavour chasers‘.
For me it felt a little too cool and the usual whack of flavour wasn’t coming through.
Sure it was a decent vape but I felt it needed a bit more oomph – not a lot of vapour or kick on the throat either.
Level 2: Blue – 410°F
Much better to say the least and I felt the earthiness of the terpenes really began to shine through.
I was getting more of that slightly sweetened frostiness too.
The vapour was slightly thicker – but still not that cloudy – however the hit to the throat was a nice little tickle.
Level 3: Purple – 428°F
I’m not sure I’ve ever vaped on a herb at this high temperature.
Saying that it really wasn’t hot but the warmer side of warm if that makes sense.
At this temp the terpenes really did pop and that sweet sugariness from the CBD Flower really came to the fore.
The device didn’t warm up at all BTW.
Level 4: White – 446°F
This is a pretty high temperature for sure, however I found this the very best one for me.
The flavour was intense with deep rich notes coming through creating a very moreish vape indeed.
The clouds whilst not sub ohm style, were like a decent MTL vape and the throat hit like the vapour was warm with a nice tickle to the tonsils.
I did find vaping half an oven on Blue and then swapping to White gave me the best experience…
Pros
- Dead simple to operate
- Good flavour
- Decent vapour
- Good oven size – can be adjusted
- Lovely design
- Great build quality
- Choice of temperatures
- Great price!
Cons
- Dry herb only no concentrates
- Lack of proper airflow
Final Review Verdict
I’m going to call this a budget herb vaporizer – but that in NO way takes away the performance – it is really very very good for the price.
The design is very eye catching – I would like to have seen some kind of knurling to make it less slippy – but that’s a nitpick to say the least.
The x4 temperature settings are great and very noticeable compared to a few herb vaporizers I’ve tried where they all feel a bit the same.
The oven is just big enough for a large or sharing session and the removable stopper cuts down the fill by about a third.
It is extremely easy to operate and would be perfect for those of you new to herb vaporizers and it won’t break the bank either 😉
As you can probably guess, the Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer has really impressed me and remember I’ve reviewed some of the best and most expensive out there – so yeah, HIGHly recommended.
Are you using the Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer?
Thinking of buying it?
Any thoughts or questions let me know in the comments below…
Take the mouth piece off. The rubber piece will come out. There is a screen under it too… clean it out. Mine was full of resin. Works like a charm now. I clean the chamber with a qtip and alcohol. Works perfectly 👌 hope this helps someone!
Wow. To each his own but this device is great! It does what I need it to do. Maybe im a lightweight, but thats cool. Id say read the review, its very accurate as far as describing its function, then you have to just try it and see if it meets your needs. Mine have been met! Awesome device!
Just bought one. The instructions are extremely vague. Where does the flower go? Do you take the stopper out to use? I’ve tried everything. Doesn’t work! Not impressed at all initially.
You’re not the one to review a vape if you don’t even know the settings. Just like EVERY OTHER VAPORIZER out there, WHITE is the LOWEST TEMP SETTING! I don’t even know how you can get that wrong! C’mon dude! I’m sitting here puffing with a white light and it’s got a super duper taste and no vapor coming out of my mouth. I don’t even need to look at the settings to know that the color scheme for the temp setting is white is the lowest temp, then green, then blue, and purple is the hottest setting! Omg dude, as I’m sitting here thinking about your review, I am so bothered by how you just so blatantly wrong. Do you even smoke weed? Jesus Christ man, get real!
Hmmm.. White IS the hottest setting on this particular device. Check your facts before spouting off.
As a few others have pointed out. The overall design of the ice cream is nice. I love the look of it. But it is design is flawed. Specifically that mouthpiece. Problem being that gold metal part gets just as hot as the chamber, the big magnet in the mouthpiece sits on that part, and absorbs that heat quickly (I could never do more than two sessions in a row before the entire mouthpiece even the tip was painful to touch it was so hot).
It’s thing plastic as well. So what do you think happens as that cheap plastic mouthpiece gets super hot and cool over and over? Of course, it cracks. My first lasted ~3 months. Second maybe 2. Then I realized it was a design flaw and I was literally throwing money away.
Bought a Boundless CFX, and the water pipe adapter for it after the ice cream. LOVE IT. Still have it but just got a new dry herb vape. The Ooze Verge. Which is fantastic. Very large half gram bowl, ~30 second heatup time, vibration, oled screen, precise temp control etc. It also has a water pipe adapter which I bought as well. Batter life is great, uses USB-C to charge etc. Feels like a worthy successor to my CFX.
BTW I love other Lookah products. Have had the Seahorse Pro Plus for a while and the Swordfish and both work perfectly.
I have to respectfully disagree…Having been indulging in consumption of “Botanicals” for longer than most of you have been alive…
Love the concept and was really excited to try it out…however I was totally disappointed. I found that it did not give the “Hearty Beefy” like a pull from a water pipe…which I understood prior to first pull. Totally charged, ground uber fine….waste of time and money. It gives a bit of a hit but barely…and makes product taste like crap…
such a shame as i was really into it….
I don’t like it and I bought two of them one for a friend and he changed his mind so I’m stuck with two Lookah that’s no good I like smoking regular joints
Is there any connection pieces or inserts so it can be used for concentrate cuz online it says concentrate takes roughly the same temp range as what the lookah ice cream burns at but says it’s only for flower? And if there’s not a insert or connection piece to make it ok for wax will it wreck the device if I try smoking flower that had dabs on it out of the ic lookah
I’m having problems with sensor. It starts to come up to temp and starts flashing and buzzing. Haven’t had it a year.
I started selling the lookah seahorse at my store and people buy them like crazy so being as the Ice Cream was lookah i gave it a shot and so glad i did. I got my shipment in and was upset because i could only taste the bud well joke was on me I got a nice clean high without the harsh throat burn, no smoke, no smell so discreet too. My customers love it too.
Do you take the silicone stopper out while vaping?
The main vaporizer is great! However the mouthpiece cracks super easy. I’m on my 9th replacement mouthpiece in a year. I could have bought another vaporizer in the amount I’ve paid for mouthpieces. Lots of times they are unavailable. Also they recently doubled the price of the mouthpiece.
I couldn’t get any satisfaction from this product at all. Not even smoke constantly changing . I think it sucks
How much herb does the Ice Cream Vape hold?
I didn’t measure it…just make sure you don’t ram it in 🙂
How long does the battery stay charged “appx.” while using;Like how many sessions/hours? Thanks
I’ve given mine away but from what I can remember from fully charged I had about 9 or 10 sessions of about 4 minutes each over a couple of days so I’m guessing here – as the company doesn’t have that info – just under an hours worth of actual vaping before it will need charging…
How do you clean it? Can you buy and replace the mess screen?
That’s what a lot of people want to know “but” they won’t answer that! Imagine that?
I’m using this now. It’s my first ever vape (of any kind). I had used an old school vaporizer back in the day and I remembered that, unlike smoking, the flavor is always there. If you smoke, you have green hits but, after a while, it all just tastes like weed. With a vaporizer, every hit is green. When they legalized here is Illinois, I decided then that I wanted to buy a dry herb vape. I just got this one because it looks cool but, it seems as though I got the perfect first purchase
i just purchased the red lookah ice cream model and absolutley love it . i have to agree with the temp changes as you 100 percent can feel the difference which markets to a very diverse group. (flavor chasers , weekend warriors, and your “veteran” …weedologist and potsmiths. Also, great for every occasion. Really lets you contro your level of “elevation”.
had to check it out after reading your review , so i thank you for the recommendation and your service to the industry as well as this country. I tip my hat to you good sir , till next time!
I am not getting anything coming out of mine. I’ve done everything possible, and yes even changed temps. I paid 70 for this, and for it not to work. I am new to flower yes and new to flower vapes.
Help!!!
You’ll need to talk to the manufacturer or send it back to point of sale…
How does this compare to the G Pen dash and other competitors? Have you owned those to properly compare the differences?
I haven’t tried the G Pen Dash but have tried more than a few and this one holds its own against most of them…obviously the FireFly 2 and the Davinci IQ2 were the standouts for me and similarly priced…
how I get lookah to send me one for a review? I manage at least 5 FCC-licensed FM stations in the USA, 1 in denver for cannabis related reviews. They need to send us one so we can test it properly with regular bud. All the best
I’ve never vaped before. Always rolling or piping. I don’t want to grow anything new, or purchase whatever dabs are. Can I use this?
I enjoyed the Lookah ice cream for about a week. Then the mouthpiece broke which is a non warranty item and its unavailable everywhere…. Im not a fan. Dont waste your money. I had similar issues with the yo can vane. Seems like the origin of these products are similar but what do I know about these things???
Had no issues with mine since it arrived – sorry to hear you’ve had issues with yours…
