The Logic Compact Starter Kit is a venture into the Pod Mod market for the long running vaping brand Logic.
Logic have been producing devices for many years and you will have mostly seen the sight of this brand at counters in all sorts of stores – Petrol Stations, Supermarkets and Corner shops. Logic have become an easily accessible brand throughout the country.
Pod Mods are a huge trend in vaping now. Often looked down upon by users of more advanced devices I have to admit I am a fan of a good pod mod. They are often perfect for starters due to their simplicity and ease of maintenance.
Pod mods get their name as the e-liquid is contained in a small tank which is called the pod. The pod also houses the coil which is what heats the e-liquid. The tank is then powered by a battery.
These devices use very low power so the battery and pod can be smaller and are designed to use high nicotine or nic salt e-liquid to give a big hit at low power.
The Compact Starter kit is a “Closed pod” system – meaning once the pod is empty you discard the pod. Slightly wasteful but still more environmentally friendly than fully disposable devices such as the trend for disposable pod mods like the GTRS F1.In the battery part of the Logic Compact device is a 350mAh capacity battery – which is kind of average for a pod mod. The pre-filled pods contain 1.7ml of e-liquid and when empty you buy replacement pods. You don’t need to worry about the hassle of refilling or changing coils – so bar any leaks this should be a “clean hands” kind of device.
Thank you to Logic for sending these over to me for review and I will report back honestly on my findings with the device I have received.
Oooh and I got a pink one (well Rose Gold – near enough) – woooooohooooo! There are also Steel Blue and Slate Grey versions to choose from.

Build Quality & Design
So as stated above I got the Rose Gold version in a beautiful Limited Edition box kit.
What a lovely little device. The finish is a metallic yet matt feeling with black panels down the side.
The LED is mounted in the centre on the one side and the opposite side just has the necessary legal logos.
The USB charger simply pushes onto the base of the battery and is held on perfectly by magnets.
The black pod is easy to pull out and replace but doesn’t wobble or fall out either.
My only gripe is the pod doesn’t show the liquid level unless you remove it!
Otherwise this really is a class act!
Set-up Guide
The battery and pod arrive in separate containers.
Remove the battery from the box and charge as described below.
When fully charged install a pod – also described below!
Basic operation
- To vape – simply inhale on the mouthpiece.
- Battery low – LED flashes 10 times
- Battery fully charged – LED illuminates White
How To Charge The Battery
- Attach the included charging cable to the battery – it is held on magnetically.
- Install the USB connector of the cable into a suitable USB outlet.
- Whilst the device is charging if you look really closely the LED light will pulse slightly – very hard to tell unless you concentrate hard.
- In approximately 74 mins (according to the instructions!) the LED on the battery will be fully on and white – this means it is fully charged.
How To Change The Pod
- Simply pull out the old pod from the battery – it is only held in magnetically.
- Remove the pod from the box and protective packaging.
- Remove the clear silicone cover from the base of the pod.
- Push the pod – metal end first – into the battery. There is no wrong way around.
- The pod will click and be held in magnetically.
How Does the Logic Compact Starter Kit Perform?
Flavour & Cloud Production
The flavours are the same as those I tested in the Logic Pro 2 kit – and I didn’t think they were too bad then.
There is a warm vapour which hits your tongue and the throat hit even from the lower strength 12mg nicotine pods is spot on.
The airflow again is spot on – a good restriction but you still get vapour all the time you inhale. The airflow sensor which senses when you inhale and powers up the firing is super quick to respond with no lag or misfires.
Tobacco Flavour Pod – 18mg Nicotine
Ooh this has a great throat hit – not warm but you can feel it tingle.
It has a very dark chocolatey style tobacco flavour – so not the horrible synthetic ash tray taste of early tobacco e-liquids.
I have tasted a lot nicer Tobacco flavours – for instance the Apollo Boss e-liquid range were beautiful.
I have however tasted some right minging tobacco liquids too and this is not at all in that category – but it isn’t a flavour I would choose over the others in the range.
In fact this was the poor pod I sacrificed to experiment with refilling…
Menthol Flavour Pod – 18mg Nicotine
Yep as expected – ice cold – brr!
Excellent throat hit again and good strong taste – very minty.
Menthol lovers will not be disappointed in this one – very nice indeed – just a bit too menthol-y for me!
Cherry Flavour Pod – 12mg Nicotine
I did find the Cherry pod didn’t quite have the same kick as the Berry Mint – it felt less powerful and less throat hit – despite having the same Nicotine Strength?
Saying that though this has a lovely cherry flavour and it is pure cherry – not a cherry tobacco tinge.
Really lovely but could do with the cherry being slightly stronger – it could afford to as it is not a sickly sweet flavour.
Berry Mint Flavour Pod – 12mg Nicotine
This is really beautiful – a rich berry taste with a cooling sensation. This was my favourite flavour in a previous Logic review and I still love this you know.
Great flavour and throat hit – not harsh or chemically at all.
Refilling Pods
So, with me being a bit of a tinker-er I decided to see if I could take a pod apart and refill it. I would imagine this is probably not recommended and you can only do this a few times as the coil will wear out eventually.
The Tobacco flavour pod was my least favourite so it gave up its contents for experimental purposes.
The structure of the pod is below. The mouthpiece pulls off.
The bottom metal section needs to be prised off whilst pressing the small locating tabs in the side of the tank. I used a small electrical screwdriver.
Once the metal base is removed the coil section with plug can be levered off.
I gave the pod a rinse out under the tap – just make sure not to lose any seals whilst doing this.
I refilled mine with the Apollo Smoozie e-liquid which is 50/50 VG/PG and 20mg Salt Nic.
Make sure to push everything back together until the metal base clicks onto the tab catches on the tank.
As expected the first few vapes were muted flavour and crackly from the dampness remaining from rinsing the pods.
However when this passed – wowee I am over the moon – I can taste the liquid really well and it is a lovely vape.
This is the way forward for this kit for my usage I think.
Battery Life
Obviously your vaping habits will dictate the battery life. But to try and give you a guide I timed how long I got on a full battery.
I wasn’t vaping this as solidly as I would a sub ohm tank with low nicotine strength E-liquid – but I was having 2-3 vapes every 15 minutes.
In total I got 4 hours of vaping – I checked the level of the pod and I only had a small amount left so roughly one battery charge = one pod of liquid.
Pros
- Can buy pods for this online or in a lot of high streets, petrol stations and even corner shops
- Clean hand operation – no refilling or coil changes
- Quick automatic firing – no lag
- Really well made pretty little mod
- Lovely airflow setting and taste was surprising
- No leaks at all
- Pretty good battery life
Cons
- Have to remove pod to view liquid level
- LED light hard to interpret – when charging it only pulses very slowly and you can barely detect it without concentrating.
- A refillable pod option would be amazing
Final Review Verdict
The little Logic Compact pod mod did surprise me. It is also very very pretty and well made.
The vaping experience on this little kit is up there with some of the more respected brands of pod mod.
This is definitely a starter kit or for mouth to lung (MTL) vapers only – it isn’t a cloud chucker – in fact there is very little vapour on the exhale. But this is not designed to do “cloudzz bro” – this is designed to deliver nicotine quickly and in a way that mimics smoking and it does it really really well.
“Over the counter” vape devices – those that you pick up at petrol stations and supermarkets do get a lot of bad press. To be fair some are not that good and the e-liquids leave a lot to be desired too.
However this is a class act really. As closed pod systems go this is good quality, a lovely vaping experience and ideal for those who find more complex devices daunting.
I found the Cherry and Berry Mint pods to be my favourite and I would choose those first if I was buying replacement pods.
I am not a fan of closed pod systems and prefer to refill my own – it’s cheaper and you have more freedom of choice.
There are also a lot of people who don’t want the mess or hassle of refilling and changing coils – so the closed pods are idea.
If Logic would release a refillable pod for the Compact – I would 100% buy it! That way they could cater to closed and open pod system users and double their market. Vladdin recently did the same – their original system was closed and they then released refillable pods – perfect.
