UK based Large Juice don’t like to discriminate. With the Livin’ Large E-juice review we’re going to find out if they’re reaching their goal…
To cater for every vapers needs. Without exception.
There’s certainly no discrimination when it comes to flavour checking. They rely on at least 50 testers before recipes are released to the general vaping public.
Their ranges are also tailored to different VG/PG juice ratios, catering to MTL and DL vapers.
Large Juice aren’t exactly boxing themselves in. They leave that to their complete e-liquid solutions. For example, the 50 Large range includes a 50ml shortfill, a 10ml 18mg nicotine shot and mixing instructions – all in one box.
Their more popular flavours have also been given the salt nicotine treatment and are available in 5mg, 10mg or 20mg strength.
What Can We Expect From The Livin’ Large Range?
We can expect the new Livin’ Large range to have undergone stringent testing to ensure full TPD compliancy. The product packaging is CLP compliant and all MSDS sheets are out there in the public domain.
The range is predominantly comprised of twelve fruit based flavours with a splattering of cola thrown in for good measure.
Today I’m reviewing six of them but check back regularly as I add the rest over the coming weeks.
- 50 ml of e-liquid in a 60ml bottle (0mg strength)
- Enough space to include a single 18mg freebase nicotine shot for a 3mg strength vape
- 70VG/30PG juice ratio
- Designed for sub ohm vaping devices
- Made in the UK
- Recyclable bottle with a childproof cap and tamper evident seal
There were no tamper evident seals on the sample bottles I received.
The range uses dual or triple layering of fruits so it’s going to be interesting to see how these blend together. The fruits are well known and popular, cropping up in e-juice bottles on a regular basis.
Is there anything different, anything special about the Livin’ Large e-juice range?
Let’s find out.
My Vape Weapon Of Choice Was..
Although the Livin’ Large range is highly suited to sub ohm tanks with stock coils I opted to use my Dovpo Blotto Mini RTA. I ran it with a single NI80 fused Clapton coil with Cotton Bacon V2 for wicking. The coil was reading a 0.4ohm resistance.
The e-liquid was tested using a variable power output depending on the individual profile. The cotton was replaced after each flavour test, glass tube flushed out and the coil dry burnt (while checking for gunk) before moving on to the next.
Please note: These opinions are based on my own unique experiences. I’ve tried to be as descriptive as each profile allows. I tested for flavour replication, authenticity, strength and blending to determine my final scores.
Consider my thoughts merely a guide should you decide to try them yourself.
Every vaping device offers a different flavour experience.
Livin’ Large – Blackcurrant & Apple
Large Juice says:
A classic flavour combination that delivers sweet and sharp notes. Juicy Blackcurrants are blended with the taste of crisp Apples.
I Say:
Of the two fruits on offer it’s Blackcurrant that really dominates the exhale. It leaves its mark with a tangy juiciness on the tongue. Apple notes are more noticeable during the inhale, especially the sourness.
The blending of Blackcurrant and Apple seems to work more as an after taste – after the vape instead of during, which is slightly disappointing.
There’s not really enough of the crisp Apple, either. The sweetness is there but very little else. It’s not shaking hands with the dominant dark berry and its earthy aroma.
Despite that niggle the flavour is still impressive for the sweet, tangy tart qualities.
Blackcurrant and Apple is a very refreshing vape, kept lively and interesting by using just a touch of Coolada.
Livin’ Large – Mango, Pineapple & Coconut
Large Juice Says:
A fruit medley blending together tropical notes. A fragrant Mango mingles with tangy tasting Pineapples and a mellow Coconut flavour is noticeable throughout this vape.
I Say:
Wow! This one is good, very good.
I wasn’t expecting the Coconut content to be this authentic. It takes on a texture and depth all of its own. It’s also the lynch pin for what is already a very flavoursome vape.
As with Blackcurrant and Apple there’s a minimal level of Coolada which still catches the lips during exhale but complements the refreshing milky, creaminess of that Coconut.
As a consequence we’re not far from beverage based territory.
I find more of the Mango than the Pineapple but none of the synthetic, artificial notes usually associated from mainstream alternatives.
That’s a huge relief and the two fruits are quite subtle in taste yet retain all their sweetness for the taste buds to enjoy.
I don’t usually associate Mango or Pineapple as all day vaping flavours but I’m making an exception with Mango, Pineapple and Coconut.
This e-juice demonstrates the effects of a well blended trio of flavours.
Livin’ Large – Watermelon & Strawberry
Large Juice Says:
We paired a fresh tasting Watermelon with ripe Strawberries to create a vape ideal for anyone looking for a sweet fruity blend.
I Say:
Sounds like a simple dual layer profile. Do both fruits pull through?
The first thing of note is the conservative amount of cooling agent applied. It has a tendency to smack the lips and doesn’t really belong here in my opinion. So it becomes something of a nuisance, diminishing the overall flavour experience.
It takes long, protracted inhales to decide what’s going on with those flavours too.
Watermelon and Strawberry exudes plenty of sweetness but the fruits have difficulty showing themselves. They lack clarity.
Out of the two I’d have to say Watermelon makes the most effort. The Strawberry is very distant and struggles to dominate in the way it should.
It’s not fake or artificially produced, it just doesn’t have enough presence during the exhale.
Ultimately the two flavours clash, creating a strange but uninspiring vape.
So to answer the opening question, no – the fruits don’t pull through. Watermelon and Strawberry is a bit disappointing.
Livin’ Large – Pineapple & Lime
Large Juice Says:
Pineapple and Lime fuses together a zingy citrus flavour with a syrupy tropical fruit note. A juicy Pineapple flavour is complemented by a sharp Lime taste.
I Say:
The Lime is clean and well balanced. It doesn’t dominate and lacks the harshness of many versions out there.
The Lime has a sharp edge, enhanced by a smattering of Coolada which makes it very refreshing during exhale.
Much of the citrus nature of the profile pulls through on the inhale, followed by a delicate sweet layering on the way out.
I find the Pineapple notes are more pronounced towards the end of the vape. Most other times they mix relatively well with the lime, reminding me of a Lime/Pineapple cubed sweet but with less intensity.
The fruits of Pineapple and Lime blend successfully enough to create something a bit different.
That’s something I’m always up for and Large Juice have done a fine job!
Livin’ Large – Apple & Cranberry
Large Juice Says:
A blend of tart fruits that create a fresh tasting vape. The flavour of juicy Apples is complemented by a delicate Cranberry note.
I Say:
There’s plenty of Coolada in Apple and Cranberry, picked up on the inhale. It combines with a few menthol back notes that aren’t mentioned in the description.
I really can’t taste much in terms of the Apple, either and is provided only by the thinnest of layers.
There’s plenty of tart like quality and a bitterness hits the tongue after the exhale. It may be these qualities that are burying the Apple content. Either way I was expecting more presence from the green fruit.
In all honesty, I’m very much reminded of a Heisenberg clone without the sharpness or intensity.
I know. My description sounds a world away from how it appears on paper. For fear of repeating myself, taste is subjective.
With very little in the way of Apple and perhaps too much Coolada and menthol, Apple and Cranberry doesn’t work for me, I’m afraid.
Livin’ Large – Cherry Cola
Large Juice Says:
A classic soda flavour with a fruity twist. Sweet tasting Cola notes are blended with ripe Cherries and a fizzy finish on the exhale.
I Say:
This one’s as refreshing as they come and the addition of Coolada is very welcome.
The fizz begins during inhale and runs through the centre of the vape itself. The sourness of the Cherry eventually makes way for a sugar like coating, wrapped around the traditional Cola recipe.
The sweetness of Cherry Cola keeps me coming back for more. It has its own addictive qualities and works very much like a cola beverage.
I must admit the Cherry content is somewhat lacking but the syrupy tones of the beverage are present and correct. This adds a high degree of authenticity and depth from the vape.
If anyone was expecting a replication of Dr Pepper or Wild Cherry Pepsi they’re going to be let down.
As more of a generic tasting Cola vape it gets the job done.
Livin’ Large – Strawberry and Kiwi
Large Juice Says:
A sweet berry flavour with a tropical twist. Notes of juicy strawberries are complemented with the tart taste of kiwis for an exotic vape.
I Say:
Strawberry and Kiwi is a very fragrant and lively vape. This version of strawberry is very similar to that found with a chewy sweet, so lacks true authenticity to the fruit.
That’s taking nothing away from the flavour because it’s more than evident from the very first exhale. There’s a great deal of sweetness but still lacks the ripeness of the real thing.
The inhale tells a different tale. The tangy, tart like qualities of the kiwi are literally sucked into the mix and work very effectively.
A few citrus notes spill through which are reminiscent of orange or lemon. They help create a partial tropical theme.
Once the e-liquid has had enough time to work into the wicking, a clever blending of the strawberry and kiwi emerges.
As a fusion of fruit, Strawberry and Kiwi has been well balanced. It’s not difficult to pick out either during the exhale and nothing gets muddied in the process.
Yes, it’s all about careful blending with this one and with a mixture of sweet, tart like properties, vapes a treat. Great work.
Livin’ Large – Strawberry Lemonade
Large Juice Says:
A sweet and summery e-liquid. Sugary Strawberries are fused with a citrusy Lemonade that balances this flavour with its fresh, sharp notes.
I Say:
This is quite a subtle blending of two key flavours. The citrus notes definitely pull through during the inhale and morph into a tangy, zesty affair on the way out.
The Lemonade tends to be the more dominant force, leaving its sweetness on the taste buds after the vape while the Strawberry content is quite low but cancels out some of the acidity of the Summer beverage.
Coolada has been applied which holds its own throughout the exhale without ever become too much of a distraction. As a consequence, Strawberry Lemonade is a refreshing and uplifting e-liquid profile.
There’s plenty in the way of citrusy back notes but I think they’re stopping the Strawberry from delivering in the way I was expecting.
You’re getting both of the main ingredients here, but I’m not certain either do enough to lift it into the realms of originality. It doesn’t stand out among a host of other dual blended alternatives.
Livin’ Large – Blue Raspberry
Large Juice Says:
Blue Raspberry is a nostalgic sweet shop vape. The sweet taste of Raspberries is paired with a sour note to create this recognisable flavour.
I Say:
This flavour profile can often contain far too much sourness. I often liken it to an almost ‘sulphuric taste’ if that makes sense! By this I mean it can be overwhelming to the point of making the eyes water which instantly ruins the entire experience.
This version is raspy on the inhale but that’s because there appears to be plenty of menthol included. Not sure I was expecting that, but there you go.
Does it take anything away from the vape experience. No, it doesn’t in all honesty. It gives the overall flavour output another dimension and certainly complements the fruit.
However, the Raspberry is out there, on the fringe of the exhale. The menthol dumbs down much of the sweetness too so the fruit is somewhat muted.
Blue Raspberry certainly offers plenty of Summer cooling for the throat and may very well act as a decent palate cleanser.
It doesn’t particularly inspire for overall flavour clarity and quality, though.
Livin’ Large – Original Cola
Large Juice Says:
A classic soda inspired vape. This e-liquid blends together notes of syrupy tasting cola and a subtle fizz noticeable throughout this vape.
I Say:
In many ways, Original Cola is fighting a losing battle from the get go. How many versions of this popular beverage been knocked out now? For this reason I’ll try to look for anything that’s a bit different – that may lift it above a myriad of others out there.
There isn’t as much of a cooling blast on the inhale. That always sets the tone for one of the most popular beverage inspired e-liquids.
It’s still in there, but slightly underplayed in my opinion. The Cola is also somewhat lacking in the syrupy tones. I don’t really experience much of that here.
Original Cola is also missing the clarity and sparkle of the fizzy drink. It’s not jumping out to remind of why it’s so popular in the first place.
To suggest a subtly hint of fizz is to suggest an absence of, in my opinion. This is a very flat Cola and doesn’t fizz and pop anywhere near enough to become refreshing.
It’s as I wrote at the start. There’s an abundance of Cola inspired flavours on the market and I’m afraid Original Cola isn’t one of the better ones.
Livin’ Large – Grape & Strawberry
Large Juice Says:
A sweet tasting short fill delivering juicy fruit notes. The crisp taste of green grapes is combined with notes of ripe strawberries creating a vape with a sugary finish.
I Say:
Can the taste of Grape and Strawberries work? How well do they combine? In this case they actually work very well. It’s not really a combination of the two but more of an overlapping.
The Strawberry is more prevalent during the inhale, thanks to its sweetness and still carries through during exhale but then gets overlapped by the grape.
Unfortunately it’s the same generic tasting Grape and one I’m not the biggest fan of. It does still manage to work with the more dominant fruit.
Grape gives us that familiar fragrant aftertaste accompanied by bitter and sour notes while the strawberry is of the sweetie variety.
Both fruits are set against a backdrop of cooling agent that while isn’t too intense, still has the ability to sear the lips and tongue.
So there’s nothing natural or authentic about the vape from Grape and Strawberry but it delivers on the flavour description.
I’m not really a fan of this one but others are bound to enjoy this dual flavoured fruity profile.
Livin’ Large – Grape Lemonade
Large Juice Says:
A unique blend of sweet and sharp flavours that create a summery liquid with a fizzy exhale. Crisp notes of green Grapes are paired with zingy Lemonade.
I Say
There’s a strong, acrid aroma of lemonade when dripping the e-liquid onto the RDA’s cotton. Ok, so I notice a delightful fizzy build up during the inhale! I wasn’t expecting that. I don’t come across too many profiles that can actually deliver a fizzy content.
Grape Lemonade has it by the bucketful. It’s very bright and zingy and will definitely scintillate those taste buds into life. The cooling agent works well to add to the effect while once again leaving it’s icy cold vapour on the lips and inside the mouth.
However, the Grape content is on something of a back burner. The Lemonade is quite authentic but probably neutralises the flavour from the green Grapes.
It’s in there somewhere but struggles to work in partnership with the beverage side. There’s a subtle hint of it during the last throes of the exhale but never accounts to much.
I congratulate Large Juice by rekindling my interest in fizzy style vapes. Grape Lemonade does a fantastic job of emulating it.
Livin’ Large E-liquid – Final Review Verdict
I found the first six flavours in the Livin’ Large range to be very hit and miss. Some of the included fruits really struggled to make a worthwhile appearance. Apple was affected the most and so was the Cherry content of Cherry Cola.
There’s also an overuse of Coolada at times, in my opinion. Yet Mango, Pineapple and Coconut benefited by its inclusion. So it’s horses for courses as always.
However it must also be noted that none of the concentrates were synthetic or artificial tasting. Where they worked, they worked well.
I was expecting more consistency when it came to fruit blending. It only really occurred on a couple of occasions.
Vapour production at all times was thick, billowy and dense, filling the room like a sauna. It was more than adequate for a 70VG/30PG juice ratio.
The juice was kind on the NI80 Clapton coil too. I didn’t see any signs of caramelisation so that was good.
Ok, remember we’re only half way through the full range on offer. Stay tuned for updates in the coming weeks. I’m sure the current score will bounce around a bit!
