The Kuga Heat SHELLS disposable pod kit review and as you can probably tell this one is shaped like a bullet so has it got me all fired up?

Kuga Heat is a relatively new Hong Kong based company with a global footprint…

It specialises in both pod kits and HNB devices. The founder has 15 years of experience in product design and brand advertising, and after helping and contributing to the success of Geekvape as CMO, he created Kuga with a team of experienced and talented co-founders who come from Voopoo, Geekvape and Smoore.

I’ve been fortunate enough to receive x7 of the company’s products – however they’ve asked I only review x4 of them…

Kuga means ‘gift of God‘ so let’s see if the SHELLS are ideal for the vaping Gods out there.

What Can We Expect From the Kuga Heat SHELLS

Given this is a disposable pod kit I’m expecting total ease of use, battery and coil longevity and of course great flavour.

A quick look tells me it definitely is easy to use with no fire button or indeed menu.

It’s a kanthal mesh coil with organic cotton, so I’m expecting the flavour to certainly be on a par with other kits using similar set-ups.

It also looks quite macho with that gun cartridge look probably going to appeal to the menly men out there…

For the women [or anyone who likes a bit of lippy] it can also look like a lipstick I guess…

As you’ll see, the manliness of the bullet design is compensated for when you suck on it…oooer.

OK, this was sent to me direct from Kuga Heat – thank you – and as always my thoughts and opinions are not swayed by freebies.

Inside the Box

I didn’t receive the Kuga Heat SHELLS disposable pod kit in an individual box as I received the reviewers presentation edition. You would of course receive the Shells packaging.

In other words, that means I’ve received all 7 of the company’s products in one box.

So, inside the retail box I’m guessing you’ll find:

  • x1 Kuga Heat SHELLS pod kit
  • x1 Type-C USB charger
  • User manual

Specs and Features

  • 650mAH internal battery
  • 3.7v – 13w
  • 1.0ohm kanthal mesh coil
  • 18x108mm
  • Auto draw
  • 4ml capacity

Kuga Heat SHELLS Key Features

First and foremost the Kuga Heat SHELLS is/are a disposable pod kit.

Like much of the company’s vape gear, it has both a military style name and design theme – more on that in a moment.

led lights

There’s no menu or fire buttons to worry about as it’s draw activated.

On each draw you get a succession of flashing LED lights that change from yellow – blue, through to green and red and other colours along the way.

Kuga Heat says you can get around 1000 puffs per SHELLS and it is refillable.

Not a lot more to say on the features apart from it comes in either black, military green and silver.

Design and Build Quality

For a disposable pod kit the Kuga Heat SHELLS is a surprisingly substantially made piece of kit.

It’s constructed from stainless steel and toughened plastic and whilst tough and solid it’s still lightweight in the hand.

red led lights

Build wise it feels like it will definitely take more than a few knocks and after heavy use there’s no scratches to the body or indeed plastic top.

Design wise it looks exactly like an ammunition shell, however the pretty/flashing LED light effect softens the tough guy look quite a bit!

I received the black version and have to say the silver and green both look very cool.

How Does the Kuga Heat SHELLS Perform?

It’s a simple as it gets pod kit – simply fill and vape.

Filling is a little tricky given the plug is in tight and I mean tight!

I recently clipped my nails and had to use a screwdriver to prise it open. That of course means once sealed there should be no leaks…and nope I’ve not had a single one.

The Kuga Heat SHELLS is classed as a RDL vape – there’s no airflow control and I found it on the looser side of restricted which I enjoyed.

If 10 is a very airy RDL draw, then I found this an 8 to 8.5 so don’t expect a tight vape.

Kuga Heat SHELLS – Flavour and Clouds

For the taste test I’ve been using the delicious IVG Crushed Range Frozen Cherries nic salt.

I filled and let it sit for a good 10 minutes – known as priming your coil – this allows all the juice to soak into the cotton.

I have to say the flavour surprised me as to just how good it was!

I’m getting all the depth of the fruits both the sweet and slight tanginess, as well as a gentle cooling breeze.

On a scale of 1:10 with 10 being super-tasty, this is definitely in the high 8’s – as in very tasty indeed.

And given I’ve been using nic salts, the vapour is pretty impressive too.

Pros

  • Great flavour
  • Great clouds
  • Cool design
  • Decent battery life
  • Simple to use
  • Solid build
  • Very cool design
  • Bargain price!

Cons

  • Fill port bung very tight
  • LED light show might not be for everyone!

Kuga Heat SHELLS – Final Review Verdict

At first glance I really wasn’t expecting much from the Kuga Heat SHELLS disposable pod kit.

My first surprise was the flavour – very good indeed.

And my second surprise was the funky LED light show – bit of a shock to say the least!

I’m not really sure it needs it – however it certainly adds a little something.

The fact that it does light up like a disco strobe has actually stopped me taking this one out and about.

That’s purely my taste and hey you might like being a flasher in public…

That aside, it’s a very smart design, built well, good battery life and longevity and above all, really good flavour.

I’ve been vaping on this daily for over a week and there’s no sign of the coil giving up the ghost just yet.

For me it might be a little over-constructed for a disposable kit, but you’re certainly getting a quality build and vape for a very decent price.

Note: The Kuga SHELLS can be bought direct from the Kuga Heat website – retailers looking to stock the products can contact the site for more info.

I have simpler vape tastes these days - I never leave home without a Caliburn G, a Vaporesso Luxe 40 or Innokin EQ FLTR and a CBD vape pen or bottle of CBD drops in my rucksack...or indeed an Aspire Nautilus Prime X in my pocket... At home I'll be using various mods topped with the GeekVape Zeus X RTA or the Signature Mods Mono SQ topped with the Augvape BTFC RDA... I'm a former journalist and now a writer and sometimes author... I'm ex Army - adore dogs and never happier than hiking over the hills or with a good book on a beach.
