It was over two years ago that a keen young vaper called Jonny reviewed the original Kangertech AeroTank giving it a reasonable score of 4.1.
This was a revolutionary tank as it was the first to include the now familiar airflow control – at its time ground-breaking stuff indeed!
Is it a Plus or a Minus for the New Kanger Aerotank?
Now after a lot of trumpeting from Kangertech they have finally released the next model in the AeroTank stable helpfully adding the word ‘PLUS’ so as not to confuse us all.
So is this brand spanking new MTL [mouth to lung] tank all it’s cracked up to be?
Let’s take a look.
In the Box
It’s quite a classy little box if I’m honest – brushed grey with the PLUS in the title added in a little shiny silver decal and a nice image of the tank itself.
Inside you’ll find:
- 1 x Kanger Aerotank Plus
- 1 x SSOCC 1.8ohm Atomizer Head
- 1 x Replacement Glass
- 1 x Set of Spare O-Rings
With only the one 1.08ohm NiCr coil added to the kit once again I have to say that a manufacturer has been a little miserly – c’mon guys add another coil or three!

Key Features
The Aerotank Plus is a top fill tank with 2ml capacity and I guess the main feature here is again the airflow control.
What you have is x4 holes at the bottom of the tank each of varying sizes – from large to tiny.
You adjust the airflow by turning the ring and you can open any of the holes fully or close them off slightly.
This really does give you maximum control over the air intake and of course let you decide on how loose or tight you like to draw.
The next thing to note is the mouthpiece.
It’s flat and extremely slim and if you’ve ever used a cigarette holder [back in the day lol] that’s exactly the size – shape and feel you’ll get.
It took a little getting used to after all the round mouthpieces I’ve used and to be honest it was quite a refreshing change – though I did find myself chewing on it lol.
However, it does seem to spin around a little too freely leaving you a bit like a baby trying to grab a dummy.
Design and Build Quality
I’ve criticized Kangertech in the past for raggedy finishing such as machine oil left all over the shop but in this case they’ve done an excellent job.
The build is nicely finished with no nasty industrial oil taste or feel and the whole thing screws together smoothly.
The adjustable airflow valve is just tight enough and carrying it around in my pocket for a week it didn’t move a millimeter – so once set to your optimum it should stay put.
The design itself is really quite nice – I received the silver version [white and black are available] and the black ‘O’ rings and top cap look good against the stainless steel.
There’s no logo. In fact, the only thing you see is the airflow hole which means it looks sharp rather than cluttered if you get what I mean.
All in all it’s a rather smart looking little tank that would fit nicely on a right sized tube mod – I tried it on my Mig Vapor Minion and it was perhaps a ‘tad’ too big for it [it’s 510 threaded and 22mm wide btw].
How Does the Kangertech AeroTank Plus Perform?
Filling The Kanger Aerotank Plus
As I’ve already said it’s a top fill and as simple as screwing off the top cap and dripping your juice into the reasonably generous sized chamber.
One point to note here is the two metal strips which form the tanks ‘cage’ are rather intrusive.
This means the e-liquid can take a little while to find its level – so let it settle a bit whilst filling.
Swapping out your coils is a case of removing the tank from your device – turning it upside down and unscrewing the coil from the base.
It is, I guess, a relatively clean coil swapping process and you can leave that last drizzle of juice in the tank.
Vaping on the Kangertech AeroTank Plus
I’ve reviewed a lot of MTL [mouth to lung] tanks and kits recently and haven’t marked many of them down too harshly – and it’s the same with the AeroTank Plus – it’s a decent little tank that does exactly what it says on the tin.
With the airflow hole wide open you get a lovely loose draw that in no way diminishes the flavour or throat hit and using the tiny airflow hole the draw is tight if a little warmer but the flavour is certainly more intense.
Kangertech say the tank is best at between 7 and 18 watts and I tried it with 2watt increments using my new found favourite mini vape mod – The Innokin Pebble.
At 7watts I found I had to work a little to get the vape I wanted and eventually found my sweet-spot at 15watts with the airflow fully open.
You of course can fiddle about to your hearts content!
It’s fair to say the Kanger AeroTank Plus delivers an extremely satisfying MTL vaping experience and looks good too. I was using Halo Vapour Co e juice.

What I Like
I like the top fill – I really do think that anyone bringing out a bottom or even a side fill tank is behind the times – all we want is a top to screw off and room to drizzle in our sauce!
The relatively clean hand coil swap out is OK and the fact you don’t have to dismantle the whole thing to change your coils has to be a bonus.
The tank can be dismantled for cleaning which again is something I like to see after all no one likes something sticky in their mouth [leave it Neil]…
I have to say on reflection I actually like this tank – it’s smart to look at – simple to use and delivers a very good MTL vaping experience.
What I Don’t Like
Not a lot – as Paul Daniels used to say.
I expected to not like the flat drip tip – however it grew on me and even its looseness wasn’t too much of an issue – indeed writing this I can see I’m not only chewing on the tip but also twisting it between my teeth – I’m regressing back to the dummy stage lol!
Final Review Verdict
So if I was munching on a chocolate Aero bar and accidentally threw away my AeroTank Plus with the wrapper would I replace it?
Do you know I think I would.
