The Justfog Q16 Pro is from a South Korean based manufacturer of electronic cigarettes.
Founded in 2009 it strives to deliver the highest quality vaping products available. There’s that bold statement once again and one I’ve heard far too many times now.
The Justfog Q16 Pro kit is in very good company standing alongside the standard Q16 starter kit, the P16A kit, S14 starter kit, G14 starter kit and the Compact 14 starter kit as potential attention seekers of your hard earned cash.
The Q16 Pro kit looks to have evolved slightly from the run of the mill starter kit, offering some increased functionality while still maintaining the ability to appeal to its target audience, that of the virgin vaper.
What can we expect from the Justfog Q16 Pro Kit?
The Q16 Pro looks to be a very lightweight, no nonsense starter kit ideal for the new vaper.
In many ways it takes the place of the traditional vape pens, popular around 2014 onwards, by offering a series of user adjustable power settings. This extension in functionality is always a welcome addition especially as Justfog have made its execution as pain free as possible.
With a battery capacity well suited to the included coil, the Q16 should allow a full days use under normal / moderate vaping sessions.
In essence what we have here is another extremely pocket friendly device that won’t have you reaching for e-juice top ups too often.
This product has been kindly sent by Vaporl free of charge for the purposes of review. This will not distract from the job at hand and what you read are my honest and open minded opinions.
Please note: This is a non TPD compliant product. TPD compliant versions are available and carry all relevant warning labels.

Design And Build Quality
The Justfog Q16 Pro Kit comes in a choice of four colour schemes:
Black, Blue, Pink and the one I received for review, Silver.
The Battery
There’s some nice tapering going on around the battery with this dinky little device and the brushed silver coated finish looks smart running each side of a black plastic trim which incorporates the fire and voltage control buttons on the front of the device.
Although quite comfortable to hold the Q16 Pro is certainly designed for much smaller hands than mine!
With the USB charging port being consigned to the bottom you’re going to have to go all horizontal during charge, in which case I recommend temporarily removing the clearomiser to prevent gravity from causing any dry hits. Trust me. I’m a vaper. It happens.
The 510 pin on the battery is not spring loaded and screwing the tank to the body is a squeak free experience.
The fire button feels cheap and nasty and would appear to be a little sticky at times especially when pressed at the top. The voltage control button located towards the base is much more tactile and responsive.
The battery will display the following LED colours during use
- White LED for battery strength between 100-65%
- Blue LED for battery strength between 65-30%
- Red LED for battery strength under 30%
Four successive presses on the fire button will bring the device to life as well as turn it off.
Justfog Q16 Pro Clearomiser
Moving onto the clearomiser and there’s some welcome knurling to allow easy maintenance both when filling and replacing a coil.
Mouthpiece | Tank
The 510 drip tip features a decent size single O ring and is of good ole fashioned plastic by way of material, a definite throwback to my early days of vaping! It’s also replaceable with some of your own favourites.
The pyrex tank will hold 1.9ml of your desired e-liquid and there will be no doubts as to where you’re at, level wise.
Airflow
It’s the airflow control system that really caught me out! Instead of the traditional spin ring and stopper what we have is a rather small dial which must be moved left or right across the airflow slot in order to make the finest of adjustment.
You will find yourself literally dialling in to your preferred airflow restriction. I find this to be a very nice touch and something I haven’t personally encountered before.
Let’s see how that and everything else works by asking….
How Does the Justfog Q16 Pro Kit Perform?
We are provided with a single 1.6ohm coil that caters directly to the mouth to lung user.
Justfog also have a compatible 1.2ohm coil (not included).
How to Install | Change The Coil
- Unscrew the clearomiser from the battery
- Unscrew the deck clockwise from the clearomiser
- Screw the coil clockwise into the threading on the base of deck
- Screw the deck anticlockwise back onto the clearomiser
Filling The Clearomiser
- Unscrew the top cap anti clockwise to reveal fill ports
- Squeeze Eliquid into either one of the fill ports, avoiding centre hole
- Screw the top cap back clockwise until firmly secured
- Screw the clearomiser back onto the battery
- Leave in an upright position for 5-10 minutes to allow juice to soak into the cotton
4 Level Power output
To make power adjustments with the device on, press the voltage control button situated at the base of the mod.
- 1 White LED 3.5v output
- 2 White LED 3.8v output
- 3 White LED 4.1v output
- 4 White LED 4.4v output
Repeated presses of the lower voltage control button will allow you to cycle through these power settings with ease.
Flavour And Cloud Production
I used Oasis, Big Apple eliquid with a 50PG/50VG ratio to see how the Q16 Pro performed.
All the following tests were carried out with either mid – full airflow settings because extreme restriction was super tight and making me sound like a member of the Bee Gees!
At 3.5v there is the merest hint of apple with minimum cloud output and a very cool vape.
At 3.8v the vape is slightly warmer but I’m picking up a hint of cotton alongside a muted apple flavour and cloud hasn’t improved.
At 4.1v that cotton taste remains and the experience really hasn’t changed from 3.8v. There’s a marginal improvement in cloud.
At 4.4v there is much more sweetness from the green apple, the vape is at its warmest and cloud production is decent. That cotton taste has subsided, thankfully!
The only real differences can be found at the highest power output which is where the vape is at its best but even after a few days use the cotton taste from the mid power settings remained indicating something other than a break in period.
It may have been because this particular coil prefers the power and wicks better at a higher level or it could of course have been a dodgy coil in general.
We all suffer with those! lol
I then went on to test a 70vg/30pg ratio with Charlies Chalk Dust Big Berry and the coil held up very well although the flavour and cloud experience mimicked that of the Oasis ejuice test.
The taste of cotton was again found only on the two mid power settings.
Thoughts And Opinions
Justfog claim that their product delivers a constant voltage that optimises flavour and cloud production even with residual power left to the battery.
I can substantiate that claim! The power cut to the device before I noticed any degradation in vape performance. Impressive.
The overall build and design of the Q16 Pro Kit is ok. Neither the clearomiser or battery weigh much so this is a super portable device.
Ergonomics
However, being so slim it is best suited to smaller hands as I found myself holding it in awkward positions. The voltage control button is placed far enough away from the main fire button to not be accidentally hit and responds very reassuringly.
The same can’t be said of the fire button because it just feels cheap, tacky and at times almost sticky.
LED’s
The LED’s are bright and large enough to be seen in direct sunlight and perform their duties adequately enough.
Airflow
The airflow adjustment dial or pin is a good idea although once again is designed for smaller fingers that have enough nail to use it but once the desired setting is found it’s not moving anywhere which is a plus point.
This device is very restrictive, allowing a super tight draw in the way you would expect from a true mouth to lung device.
I found either half or full airflow worked the best and pretty much emulated the experience a new vaper would expect when attempting to make the transition from smoking.
Battery
Battery performance was top notch given that I rarely moved from the highest power setting and vaped moderate to heavy during its charge cycle.
I got well over a days use before the wall socket beckoned and during this time suffered no voltage drop or performance. Of course, using lower power settings will increase usage time further.
It took 90 minutes to fully recharge the Q16 Pro Kit battery.
Flavour And Cloud
Now the difficult part. Flavour is subjective as we all know but when using a device like this I look for intensity as opposed to reproduction and authenticity.
The Q16 Pro Kit will deliver just about enough flavour intensity when set to the highest power level. It will disappoint even the newest of vapers on anything other than this setting, thus for me rendering the entire idea a bit pointless. Why have four options when only one works effectively enough?
Cloud production on the lower settings are ideal for those stealthy vapes but ramp the power up to 4.4v and there’s a relatively satisfying mini plume of vapour.
Leaking
The only leaking I experienced was directly after the first fill of 50vg/50pg eliquid and even this didn’t last for long. There was none at all when I applied the 70vg/30pg ratio.
Threading
The threading was fine in general with the only squeaky squeaks present when screwing the deck to the clearomiser after fitting the coil.
Mouthpiece | Drip Tip
Cheap, nasty and too tall. It adds unnecessary height to the device although luckily this plastic 810 drip tip can replaced with one of your choice.
Pros
- Very lightweight and portable.
- Easy filling system with no spillage.
- Rotary airflow pin and tolerances are a nice touch.
- No leaking.
- Voltage output remains constant. Big pro in my opinion.
Cons
- Rotary airflow pin can be fiddly
- Fire button feels cheap and tacky
- Only suitable for smaller hands (subjective)
- The exclusion of the 1.2ohm coil (mentioned in the instructions)
- Poor flavour quality on anything other than the highest voltage setting
Final Verdict
(The return of Negative Neil)
Would I Buy the Justfog Q16 Pro Kit?
No. I found myself having to use the highest power setting to force any signs of flavour and it was lacking when compared to similar starter kits.
Cloud production was as expected and suitable enough for its target audience but as I found with the Vapmor VGO, there’s not enough balance between this and flavour quality.
Would I Recommend This Product?
It has the obvious target audience which is the newbie vaper. Devices like this carry the usual power restrictions so won’t scare those novices off easily.
There’s no messing about with constant filling which is always a plus point and the portability is ideal for someone who is out and about a lot.
The 900mah battery will also provide plenty of use between charges.
There are just so many better vape starter kits out there right now and the Q16 Pro Kit doesn’t stand out enough so unfortunately I cannot recommend.
ik heb vorige week een Q16 gekocht in de winkel laten vullen maar ik krijg vloeistof in de mond
First of all thank you for your help!
It is appreciated.
I do have to say, my sister gave me the equipment since she couldnt get used to it and prefers cigarettes…
She lost the dedicated cable so I guess in time if I keep using it.. it will render the Justfog unusable..
I have not been yet in one of the stops that sell this kind of equipment and I do intend to seek a spot a search for the kind of equipment that will suit me..
And my main question now is what would suit me best?
I have been smoking for a long time and decided I dont want to keep doing so unless it is in a joint, and for now.. Im not smoking those either..
Ill tell you what kind of vaporing sensation im looking for and maybe you could help..
I dont wanna be messing around with coils that I have to put everything together.. though if the better vapes are made that way I guess ill get used to it.
I need alot of smoke.. and I have managed to figure out im a direct lung smoker.. thought it wouldnt be bad having the abilty to switch between the two..(mtl and dl)..
I need somewhat of a bigger liquid container than the just fog has, and enough battery life..
Furthermore.. I need the kind of vape that it is harder for liquid to jump in my mouth while I smoke…
And I guess the 2% liquid is still something I need because any less I might not be satisfied..
To sum it all up:
1. Bigger liquid container
2. 2% nicotine..
3. More smoke
4. No liquid getting in mouth
5. Mtl & Dl
6.Exchangable coils with no messing around with them
7. Eniugh battery life
8. Hopefully something that Incould keep getting coils for it..
I Hope that within your answer Ill find my peace.
I thank you dearly for your help.
Oh.. and one more question please..
Doest it always have to be standing when there is fluid inside or can it lie down when not in use.?
Hey, I just got the Justfog q16(c) and I have questions that I cant seem to find the answers to anywhere, if possible I would please ask you to help me out..
1. Can I charge it with a phone charger? (I already did but I dont want to ruin the equipent) hence my question is will charging it with a phone charger ruin it over time?
2. Can I wash the the part in which the fluid is inserted in to? And if so, will a little water that cant be dried out be dangerous?
3 What kind of fluid is most compatible with it?
Hi, Roy! Sorry for the delay in answering. Hope you’re well.
Let’s have a look at those questions.
1. That’s not something I would recommend. Since there is a charging cable suppled with the Q16 I really don’t see why you would. Use the dedicated one with a compatible wall charger.
2 Yes, of course and it’s a good habit to get into. The Q16 has a glass tank so should be easy to maintain and if anything will prevent flavour “overhang” from more citrus based flavours. Remember to keep water away from the battery section as well as the coils.
3 The Q16 is a low powered device so you are really restricted to less thick e liquid ratios. Look for bottles that display a 50VG/50PG ratio. You may get away with 60VG/40PG too but they are quite rare to find these days anyway. Lots of nicotine salt based liquids run 50VG/50PG and you can vape these up to 20mg strength without receiving a strong throat hit.
In answer to the follow up question. There’s no reason not to leave the Q16 on its side. The more juice in the tank the better though, so that the coils are not starved (or dry out) overnight. Dry coils will inevitably lead to what is known as a “dry hit”. Trust me, Roy. You don’t want one of those! lol
Hope I’ve been of some help. Let me know if you need any other questions answered. We’re here to help.
Kind regards,
Neil
Which one would you recommend for a newbie?
Hi, Sue.
Simplicity is the name of the game for anyone starting out on the road to vaping. Luckily there are more choices than ever thanks to the surge in pod based systems. Personally, pod systems are ideal. The Vaporesso Osmall is an ideal starting place with its auto draw feature. No need to press a fire button, just vape. It does a fine job of emulating the smoking experience new users require.
The Freemax Gemm Pod Kit is a fine device too. Plenty of flavour to be obtained and an early introduction into the way tanks are designed.
If pen style devices are more your thing there’s the Aspire Tigon. It’s pretty much future proof because it will cater for your needs now as well as later on. The Innokin T18, T18e or T20s are also worthy contenders for your hard earnt cash.
Hope this helps. Thanks for reading our reviews, Sue.
