The Joyetech Exceed Edge is a new pod mod device from a brand that has been on an absolute roll this past year or two. What was once a brand synonymous with gear that could only really be called ‘affordable’ and ‘for the masses’ has been releasing vaping products with higher and higher levels of sophistication, sleekness and performing prowess! I’m actually becoming a bit of a fan, to be fair!
On the back of a string of successful releases, including the exquisite Espion Solo Kit, the EGO AIO ECO and the nifty Exceed Box kit, Joyetech introduces its contribution to the crazy wave of pod mods currently hitting the shelves, namely, the Exceed Edge.
Sleek, stylish and altogether convenient, the Exceed edge is all about mouth to lung vaping (MTL) but, if advertising is to be believed, MTL with a flavourful EDGE!

Build Quality & Design
On opening up the see-through plastic tube packaging, I’m instantly impressed by how compact, solid and stylish the Joyetech Exceed Edge looks.
I received the orange version and the bright metallic sheen of the orange contrasts with the massive, rubber textured fire bar’s black to great effect, while the shape, which my colleague, Michelle, captured by likening it to a Wahl electric razor, which also happens to be named Edge, is ergonomic and altogether nifty for a pod.
Pressing on the big fire bar 5 times I notice the little LED lights which light up at the charging end of the pod and all of a sudden, this little guy looks like some kind of sea-going sports vehicle, a super sleek jet ski perhaps.
Reading the product pages, I find out that the design is in fact inspired by Spacecraft, no less.
The shape is hard to describe, save to say that it’s elongated, with the fire-bar side rounded and the opposite side slightly wider so that you lay it down on that thick side with fire bar facing up. It is as ergonomic as you could possibly hope for, perfect for pocket, handbag, chick-wallet, you name it.
The cartridge/pod and mouthpiece are one, a charcoal tinted clear plastic tapering to the tip in the shape of a whistle. This cartridge, which holds both e-liquid and coil, pops out with absolute ease and the tiny cylindrical coil heads screw in and out of its previously hidden base. Little gold plated contacts on the mod allow the built in 650mAh battery on the body to communicate with the base of that coil head.
Unlike some of Joyetech’s previous pod releases (like the Penguin Atopack), there’s no need to remove the coil head to refill this little guy, a little silicone stopper is fixed to the side of the mod and need only be lifted at one side to reveal a little nozzle port for filling that 2ml chamber, which surrounds the coil head and literally extends into the very tip of that mouth piece, utilizing every last bit of possible space.
The pod chassis is zinc alloy, which gived it a quality feel and reassuring weight, while the massive, rubber finished fire bar is clicky and altogether novel for a pod mod.

A change of coil head is included, as is a USB cable, though I’d have liked to see a spare mouthpiece, since this one might get dirty and grotty and the small, MTL breathing channel clogged after a time.
How Does The Joyetech Exceed Edge Perform?
The Joyetech Exceed Edge delivers MTL with rare effectiveness, not only do I experience flavour that’s unusual for an MTL coil head, it’s also unusual for a pod mod, period!
This device is tiny, sexy, convenient and great at doing what it’s designed for, which is a quality stealth vape and a punch of high nicotine or nic salts e-liquid that’s perfect for the cigarette quitter or mall-stealth extraordinaire.
I found the device uncommonly easy to break down and the coil change something that even the most technologically challenged vaper could do.
I found the mouthpiece and small breathing channel just perfect for MTL and while I’ve enjoyed a more restricted airflow on a MTL device, I found the flavour and cloud more than sufficient to excuse a slight feeling of airiness on the inhale.
Since I’m not actually a mouth to lung vaper….I didn’t waste any time putting this little guy to the test and found that the coils actually held up to some extended direct to lung (DL) use, with that slight airiness working in my favour as well.
I really enjoyed this big, clicky fire bar and the solid, sleek design is definitely one of the better pod designs I’ve laid hands on, for convenience, stealth and portability.
All round, solid performance off the Exceed Edge.

Stock Coil Performance
The included 1.2 Ohm MTL coil heads deliver a surprising flavour punch that comes as a pleasant surprise if you’re familiar with the usually slightly muted flavour of traditional pod mod systems.
I found that the coil heads held up well to an onslaught of prolonged MTL chainvaping, even DL use, which was an extra surprise. The EX coil heads are hard and robust MTL heads which deliver on both flavour and cloud fronts and, given the fact that they displayed no burning or the like, even when I used them for longer DL hits, they should boast a fairly good lifespan.

No menu, just five clicks on or off and fire
Battery Life
So, those little Led lights do more than just look cool, the way they light up after each hit actually serves as an indicator for battery life. A solid burn means 60-100% battery life, a slow flash is 30-59% battery life, medium flash is 10-29% and a frequent flash means charge now!
I found the battery life to be exceptional, with 6-7 hours vaping MTL at regular intervals. Also, I like the passthrough charge, so you can enjoy a vape while the pod is plugged into your laptop.

The Joyetech Exceed Edge pod mod is for MTL lovers, cigarette quitters and begiinners who are looking for a super sleek, convenient and effective MTL vape, perfect for stealth operations and quick, flavorful nicotine punches, this is the pod for you.
Definitely one of the better pods I’ve handled flavour wise, with not too shabby clouds for an MTL device. I enjoyed every aspect, from shape and ergonomics to end performance and battery life and would definitely recommend this one for newbs and tobacco quitters!
And..
Would I buy the Joyetech Exceed Edge if I lost/broke the device? For sure.

Very easy to use but prefer the Later Pods with built in Coil,a lot easier to fill and and seem a bit tighter
