The Joyetech eVic Primo 200 is the second device from this company that I have reviewed.
I’d be lying to you if I called myself a Joyetech fan at this stage, with my own experience being limited, at the time I started this review, to the Unimax 25 AIO.
The Joyetech eVic Primo
The Unimax is a device with which, I dare say, I haven’t had a great deal of luck with since my review…I still feel that it doesn’t give enough power for the coils and it gets on my nerves so much that I no longer use it.
However, the brand’s been sparking my interest with its more recent releases, the funky Atopack Penguin with its totally novel looks and coils and the gorgeous Ocular C with built in MP3 player.
I like a brand that thinks outside the box and I’m excited to get this review of their all new Joyetech eVic Primo 200W TC mod kit underway…let’s hope this new addition to their lengthy list of products can impress me a little more than the last one I tried.
Besides looking kinda two-tone sexy with its brushed metal and faux leather finish, this offering boasts various favorable charge features: quick charge, reverse charge and equalizing.
Other than that, it features the same atomizer as my un-loved Unimax 25, this time with 200W of power for backup though, as well as the addition of the new BFXL Kth 0.5 Ohm coil heads.
We shall see, Joyetech, we shall see!

Build Quality & Design
eVic Primo Mod
Well, first impressions were a bit of a wild ride on this one.
Now on opening the mod sized box, all I saw on top was the mod…I wondered where the atomizer was, since this was supposed to be the kit.
Lifting out the foam square with the rather sleek and stylish looking mod in it, I discovered the charge cable and a second box, inside the first.
I opened that box to discover a smashed Unimax 25 Atomizer, well…at least the glass tube had been smashed.
I also found the bubble pack containing the extra coil head open and my coil head sort of rolling around freely.
I was not happy but luckily, a second tube is provided and given the fact that I have a collection of spare pyrex tubes that I’ve never, ever found occasion to use, my anger soon cooled and I kind of appreciated getting the opportunity to use one of these things at long last (my mother says there’s nothing like a positive attitude to get you through life alive).
Nevertheless, I think there’s a reason why tanks should be boxed in a nice bed of foam, especially when they’re being mailed clear across the globe.
Okay so, let’s get on with it shall we.
The eVic Primo 200W Mod
Okay! Well, the sleek, brushed metal and faux leather body is incredibly light weight, I was a bit taken aback at first, it’s one of the lightest dual 18650 mods I’ve picked up. Once you put the batteries in though, it becomes just right.
The dimensions and ergonomics are beautifully done. The entire, round edged rectangle tapers on the side opposite the atomizer so as to fit so, so snuggly in the crease of your hand.
It really feels great to hold. I love this leather sticker finish and the round, perfect and clicky fire button is perfectly placed to use with your forefinger.
Sadly, the 510 pin isn’t spring loaded, making it a bit tricky with certain attys but to be honest with you, I’ve not found a need to use it with another atomizer, I like this combo of mod and tank and feel it looks and performs so well as a kit, why swap out?
On the slightly wider (25mm) atomizer side you get the fire button, large bright display with its completely awesome analog clock screensaver and below that the adjust buttons, equally clicky… and the micro USB port, which is good for firmware upgrades on both PC and Mac (yay) and you can even customize the logo, nice touch!
On the underside you get a battery door that’s hinged and opens with an outward pull and a flip, to reveal a snug, clearly marked battery chamber with nice gold plated connections. I like the grip on the door and find it particularly easy to use and very secure.
I’ll get to the vape experience a little later in the review but let’s just say that the vape quality is rivalled and possibly even overtaken in this device by what I can only describe as out of this world ergonomics.
This thing feels really, really good in hand. I’ve had a lot of dual 18650 devices that I love but I still need to put them down between sessions. With the eVic Primo, I’ve a tendency just to keep it in my hand as I mission around, you hardly know it’s there, so beautifully ergonomic is the design on this mod.
Well done, Joyetech.
Accessories
Well, like I’ve said, I’m certainly glad there was an extra pyrex tube included as I made use of it right away because the original smashed during transit.
Other than that, I love the big thick Joyetech vape bands, I wish all vape bands were this thick.
Seals and all the necessaries and of course the QC cable… I’m keen to see how quickly this device really charges.
Oh and, I got an extra Brown faux leather sticker with my Silver and Black version… I don’t like the brown, I’d have preferred something a little less “businessman” but what can one do?
How Does The Joyetech eVic Primo Perform?
Okay, well…the included coil heads are two of the same but they’re Joyetech’s new BFXL coil heads, 0.5ohm resistance for Direct Lung vaping in the 30-50W range and I’d like to say that while this is hardly my usual ball park (I aim for 70W and up), I have been mightily impressed.
Using GLAS Basix e juice i got tremendous, rich and juicy flavor with really, really good vapor production and to be honest, this thing fires at 50W like some of my other popular coils fire at 60W so…hmm, I like!
I even tested them against the BFL coils from the Unimax AIO, using the Joyetech eVic Primo Mod at 40W for both coils and I found them superior for sure.
I mean it when I say flavorsome, it’s a tight, rich vape. If you like a super airy vape that you can fire for 12 seconds running, this is not for you but if you’re in it for short burst, rich vapor…it’s the best 50W I’ve had in a while.

Controls:
- Okay, 5 clicks will start you up and response is excellent on all buttons.
- TCR mode is entered when the device is off with a long hold on fire and +.
- The chip reads new atomizers without fail and get’s the settings just right every time.
- Three clicks changes mode.
- Fire and + from power on will take you into your screen time, logo and preheat settings.
The display is pretty sweet and I loooove the analogue clock screen saver, very stylish.
The display covers wattage, volts, resistance, power draw and battery levels and it’s neat top to bottom layout makes it a breeze to read.
- + and – will lock everything.
- Wattage is easily adjusted with the up down buttons.
All that said, I found the ramp time to be outstanding, providing a powerful solid vape right up until 200W, achieved with my Cigpet ECO 12, which actually fits on this thing, technically, but looks ridiculous.
Long story short, there’s nothing wrong with this mod guys, it’s a top class vape mod.
TC modes all functional, although I can’t say that I’m a TC vaper.
Battery Life and Charging
I definitely noticed a fast charge on this device, with a battery life that gets me through about a day and a half with INR 18650 Samsung 25R.
In fact, I’ve a tendency to leave this vape on because I like to use the screen clock and it sees me through a full day, morning to night, staying on and vaping periodically at 50W. Nice.
The Joyetech eVic Primo can also be used as a power bank to charge other devices. This does need a reverse charging adapter bought separately. This, interestingly, attaches to the 510 connection.
How To Fill The Unimax 25 Tank
- Unscrew the upper half of the top cap, just above the black rubber ring and top fill.
How To Change the Coil on The Unimax 25 Tank
- Unscrew the entire top cap, below the black ring
- Unscrew the coil from the top cap and replace
Airflow
Airflow is tight and a little less than smooth but very effective, it’s still a really enjoyable, flavorsome vape.
E-Juice Consumption
No problem, especially in the range of the provided coil heads, although it might be a little higher than you’re used to at 50W, I’d compare it to the Eleaf Melo III Mini with the 0.5ohm coil head, very similar vape, very similar juice consumption. The 5ml tank goes a whole lot further than the Melo III, obviously.
What I Liked
Ergonomics are off the hook with this device, I find it hard to put down. I also love the aesthetic and usefulness of the screen clock.
Outstanding battery life and super fast charge is backed up by great ramp up time creating a highly responsive mod.
Very flavorsome vape from Unimax 25 Tank and an above average 50W vape with the included coil heads.
What I Dislike
I would have liked a brighter faux leather sticker and a spring loaded 510 connection.
My personal preference would also be a lower resistance coil for higher wattages.
Final Review Verdict
A nifty, sexy, powerful kit for beginners and mid level vapers, I’m very impressed with the Joyetech eVic Primo and Unimax 25 combo and these are great coils for a 50W vape, better than average.
I’d recommend this for a beginner who’s looking for a solid kit with a mod that has that extra power should you want to fit some meaner coils at a later stage.
Big ups to Joyetech, I expected nothing and got a whole lot of pleasant surprises.
