Design and Build Quality
The BatPack comes well presented in a cardboard box with a paper sleeve; the sleeve of mine was damaged so please excuse me for not showing a photo. The design and quality of the kit is sound, the kit is small and compact and is comfortable in hand.
Battery Box
Made of Aluminium and plastic the battery box is a tiny 70.07mm tall and 17.80mm wide, as you can see I have the Green version, it has a standard 510 connection point with a spring loaded gold plated pin and is decorated by a pressed striation pattern. To the side of this you have a light that activates when you press the fire button, it also flashes when you need to change the batteries.
The fire button is on the side of the device near to the top of the unit and is made of plastic. On both sides of the box you have a pressed line pattern in triangles with branding on the back and front.
On the bottom of the box you have prints of your normal CE marks.Inside the Joyetech BatPack you have a clean plastic battery sled with clear markings for battery orientation and what looks like gold plated battery contacts.
Joye ECO D16 Atomizer
The tank breaks into 4 parts for easy cleaning. Constructed from stainless steel and delrin, the D16 Tank is 39.63mm, not including the 510 threading.
Base
Is a mixture of delrin and stainless steel, the bottom is SS with a silver plated none adjustable connection pin.Inside you have threading for your coil to sit, a small silicon band sits around the base for your glass to sit against and is printed with the words “Keep calm and vape on”.
Coil
The Joye ECO D16 tank comes with 2 coils, both are 0.5Ω. One is pre installed in the tank.
Glass
Made of Pyrex glass the glass sits over the coil and rests around the silicon band.
Airflow/Mouth Piece/Cap
The cap is made of Delrin and has a honeycomb type of pattern to it, the cap incorporates the airflow and the drip tip in one piece, the airflow is handled by two tiny holes one on each side of the cap.The cap screws to the coil and acts as the chimney for your vapour.
A basic how to guide
Your BatPack will work with 2 types of batteries “Ni-MH rechargeable and normal AA batteries.
Pre charge your Ni-MH rechargeable batteries or buy normal AA batteries to fit into your BatPack mod, follow the battery orientation marks to insert whichever choice of batteries you make.
Warning “Never mix battery types or brands” in this mod!
- Pre wick the supplied coil through the top of the coil and via the juice intake slots on the side of the coil with a little e-liquid.
- Reassemble the tank.
- Fill with an e-liquid of your choice.
- Screw the cap back into place.
- Screw the tank on to the BatPack
Leave the tank to stand for a few minutes before first use.
How Does The Joyetech BatPack Kit Perform?
Today I’m going to use banana butt “left cheek” e-liquid in the Joye Eco D16 tank, it’s a short fill e-liquid with 3mg nicotine.
The BatPack adopts Joyetech Eco Technology and has 1.85 v constant output. The Eco D16 is a slightly modified version of the tank that came with the Ego Aio Eco and uses the same 0.5Ω bfhn coil.
Joyetech is adamant that the BatPack can only be used with the Eco D16 tank, and vice versa. In fact, a normal atty probably wouldn’t get enough power from the BatPack’s meagre output. So really should we consider calling the BatPack an Aio (All In One) instead of a kit?
Airflow/Flavour/Vapour Production
The airflow is very tight even by mouth to lung standards; however I was able to get a very, very restricted direct to lung draw from the tank! The flavour of the Left Cheek was extremely good “very tasty LOL” in both styles, while MTL the vapour was weak restricted DTL was a bit better but still not what I consider a good vape for me personally.
Batteries
I’ve got to mention again that the BatPack will take 2 types of batteries, Ni-MH rechargeable and normal AA’s, the type you can buy from your local supermarket!
I tested both types of battery, Joyetech state on their website that the normal AA batteries will last 150 puffs and that the rechargeable Ni-MH will give you 800 puffs.
Personally I think they have over stated this slightly!
While I didn’t count the puff count of either battery type, I can say I am 100% sure they didn’t last as long as Joyetech state, I got 2.5hrs of constant use for the Ni-MH and nearly 1.5hrs for the AA’s.
Using another vape tank
I am a pig headed sort of guy so when someone says you can’t use another vape tank or RDA with a certain product, I have to go ahead and try and prove them wrong for myself LOL.
I first coiled up a bang on 0.5Ω Kanthal coil on my Tiny 14mm RDA, while I got vapour the normal AA batteries lasted all of 3 puffs!, So I tried again with a 1.5mm kanthal 1.0Ω coil this was better I did get some vapour! the Ni-MH batteries lasted me 30 minutes LOL.
I stopped trying after this, so far it looks like Joyetech might be correct you can’t use another atty with satisfaction on the box due to power restrictions – but watch this space though cos I aint giving up that easily!
Pros
- Innovative
- Works well
- Fair vapour production
- Good flavour
- Would suit beginner vapers
- Price needs no budget hands
Cons
- Battery strength isn’t enough for those that expect more vapour
- Inability to use other RDA/Tanks (so far at least lol)
- Tight airflow
Final Review Verdict
Well it’s been an interesting ride with the Joyetech BatPack! Truth be told the kit isn’t for me, it’s simply too under powered for my style of vaping which lead to a slightly frustrating time for me, however I am pleased that I had the opportunity to try the kit. I love it when companies bring out something that hasn’t been tried before so 10/10 for an innovative effort Joyetech.
Joyetech claims that the use of AA batteries is perfectly safe in the Batpack due to the low power requirements of the kit. What do you think? Can good old AA batteries be a part of the future of vaping? Let us know in the comment section.
Would I buy the Joyetech BatPack kit again if lost or damaged? Sorry folks “NO” would be my answer.
