The Innokin iTaste Hunter is a recent release by these vape industry heavyweights. Featuring their famed AETHON chip which provides 75w of power, and market leading temperature control performance with Titanium, Stainless Steel and Ni200 wires.
It has a rugged design, and has the excellent iSub V Vortex sub ohm tank included in the kit form.
Innokin are known for releasing some of the highest quality items onto the market, the CoolFire range of mods and the Endura T18 aimed at new vapers are some of the best sellers out there.

Design and Build Quality
The Innokin iTaste Hunter probably won’t win any awards for it’s looks, resembling something that vaguely looks like a child’s walkie talkie, but this is a rock solid and hard wearing unit that will stand up to knocks and drops.
The contoured edge of the mod is designed to mould into the palm of your hand, and the end result is that it is a comfortable set up to use.
A round threaded battery cap is present at the base of the iTaste Hunter, and you will need to use a high amp 18650 battery in this mod.
There is no way of charging via USB, so if you wish to charge the device up you will need to insert a freshly charged battery after removing the old one. So be sure to have a good external charger and a couple of spare 18650’s to use in rotation.
Battery venting holes are also present on the battery cap for safety reasons.
On the side of the Innokin iTaste Hunter you will see a unique circular screen, that has a clear display under any light conditions.
The power as well as the plus and minus buttons are to be found on the front of the mod, and the top of the mod has a stainless steel spring loaded 510 connector.
iSub Vortex
The Innokin iSub V Vortex sub ohm tank also comes as part of the overall iTaste Hunter kit, which is currently one of Innokin’s flagship tanks.
This has robust build quality, made from stainless steel and pyrex glass, with a 3ml tank capacity, and Innokin’s No Spill Coil Swap system. Meaning that changing coils is as easy as sliding the old one out from the base and the new one in.
It’s also cross compatible with Innokin’s existing iSub coil heads.
How Does The Innokin iTaste Hunter Perform?
The Innokin iTaste Hunter mod offers rock solid and dependable performance across the board, which from experience is a hallmark of Innokin products.
In both wattage and temperature control, you get consistent performance and a very good vape using this device, and it is very user friendly as well.
- You switch the mod on and off with three clicks of the power button.
- Once on, you need to select what coil type you are using, or select wattage if you just want to use wattage mode. Make sure it is all at room temperature for correct resistance calibration.
- To change the power, or temperature setting you need to hold down the plus or minus button until the setting begins to flash.
- Pressing the button further after this will adjust the setting.
- You can adjust the wattage boost in TC by holding down power or minus, which will affect how quickly or slowly the coil ramps up.
Battery Life
A single 18650 battery is required for the Innokin iTaste Hunter, and battery life is where this device falls down in my opinion.
I was testing it out with fresh LG HG2 batteries, which have a 20A continuous rating and a capacity of 3000 mAh, and I would struggle to get more than a couple of hours battery life with the 0.5ohm SS316 coils in TC mode.
It didn’t fare much better in wattage mode either. If you are taking this out for extended periods of time I would highly recommend that you have access to spare batteries, as you’ll be needing them!
Vortex Tank
The Innokin iSub V Vortex sub ohm tank really is an impressive tank.
This is up there with the best of them in terms of flavour from a sub ohm tank. With Innokin’s excellent SS316 coil heads it delivers a pleasing amount of vapour too.
Airflow is fully adjustable, and there are many different airflow settings available, from a mouth to lung hit right up to an open lung hit.
What I liked
Despite it’s hit and miss looks, I actually did like the feel of the Innokin iTaste Hunter in my hand.
It is a comfortable device to hold and use, and the buttons are easy to reach too. The build quality is solid, and this is a device that is built to last.
Performance wise, the iTaste Hunter offers some of the most stable and accurate performance around. Resistance is read accurately, and there is great power delivery to your atomiser.
The iSub V Vortex sub ohm tank is an outstanding sub ohm tank, and if you want to experience some of the best flavour delivery from a sub ohm tank, then this is one of the top tanks out there.
What I Didn’t Like
No USB charging is present on this device. I know this is a result of Innokin’s focus on battery safety, but there are plenty of safe USB charging options available.
In an emergency, you are stuck unless you have a spare battery or mod in your possession. The firmware also isn’t upgradeable.
It’s a pretty ugly device. It’s unlikely to be one that you are flashing around social media, that’s for sure!
Battery life really wasn’t great at all. In temperature control the battery life was bordering on abysmal, and it didn’t fare much better in wattage mode either.
Final Review Verdict
The Innokin iTaste Hunter is a vape mod that’s built to last you a long time indeed, unfortunately in physical form only as the battery life, I found, was pretty poor.
It does include a great chip that will give you accurate performance- essentially it will do exactly what you need it to, within reason obviously!
The Innokin iSub V Vortex sub ohm tank rounds off the package perfectly, in my opinion this is one of the top sub ohm tanks around for flavour.
If you are looking for a set up that offers longevity and reliability, then this is definitely one to take a look at!
