Innokin iTaste EZ.TC Review + iClear 20D Tank

Innokin’s latest product in their popular iTaste series of vape hardware is the iTaste EZ TC system.

It’s one of Innokin’s most technically advanced devices to date and an incredibly easy way to vape using Temperature Control, making it available to both newcomers & seasoned vapers.

Build Quality & Design

The EZ.TC kit by Innokin is an ultra compact vape mod and tank.

Constructed from zinc alloy the mod comprises of a non-standard threaded tank connection at the top of the device.

This of course means that the iClear 20D will be the only tank you can use on the mod, unless of course Innokin release others!!

The non-standard connection incorporates a typical spring loaded brass centre pin which is nice and springy making good connection with the iClear 20D tank every time.

The front of the mod contains the ‘FIRE/On/Off’ button, which is internally illuminated during use, while charging and turning the device ‘On’ and ‘Off’.

In addition to this a red LED on the Fire button will blink 8 times when the battery capacity is lower than 3.3V and the device will automatically power off and cannot be turned on until the mod is charged.

Below the ‘Fire’ button at the base of the mod we have a Micro-USB connection for charging the integral non-removable battery.

The base section of the iTaste EZ.TC is where the magic happens.

Here you will find a bi-directional dial which is marked with ascending numbers from 1 to 4 and descending numbers from 4 to 1.

These are the pre-set temperature control settings.

Each number corresponds with a pre-set temperature.

The iClear 20D

The iClear 20D tank like the EZ.TC mod is incredibly simple, comprising of 5 components:-

• Drip tip
• Top cap with dual opposing 11mm x 1.5mm airflow slots
• Glass tank
• Base section
• Stainless Steel 316L Coil

The EZ.TC kit comes complete with two types of drip tip for the iClear 20D.

A 11mm diameter bore drip tip suitable for Direct Lung vaping and a 10mm diameter drip tip with a 3mm internal bore which is more suited to Mouth-To-Lung (MTL) style vaping.

The top cap section of the tank also doubles as the filling port for the iClear 20D and is completely removed during this process.

In addition to this, the top cap section incorporates two opposing airflow slots which can be adjusted, by rotating the outer Airflow Control Ring.

From wide open to give a Direct Lung vape or alternatively closed right down to provide a MTL experience.

The glass section of the tank houses your E-liquid and of course the stock coil which screws neatly into the base section of the iClear 20D.

The coils themselves are relatively standard for Innokin coils and comprise of an inner & outer barrel.

The outer barrel provides a path for air to travel from the airflow slots down into the stock coil and back up through the inner barrel over the coil and up to the drip tip.

Each coil has 4 medium sized wicking holes, 2 on each side, for E liquid to enter and saturate the cotton wrapped around the vertical stainless steel coil. Coils are available in either 0.5Ω or 0.8Ω.

The base section of the iClear 20D has a non-standard (not 510) threaded mod connection with a non-adjustable silver centre pin.

This non-standard threaded connection is actually an integral part of the stock coil and is therefore replaced each time the coil is replaced.

How Does The innokin iTaste EZ.TC Perform?

The performance of the EZ.TC was really good for a starter kit. And the sheer simplicity of the tank & mod make it incredibly easy to setup and use.

Once the iClear 20D has a coil installed & is juiced up (don’t forget to prime that coil) and the mod has been charged, the only decision you need to make is which one of the four temperature control pre-sets suits your style of vaping.

It really is that simple.

I would recommend starting off low on the pre-set to give the coil and wick a chance to bed in.

I started off at pre-set ‘2’ (210°C/410°F) and worked up to pre-set ‘4’ which suited my personal style of vaping.

Temperature control performed flawlessly, even down to the point where I purposely vaped the tank bone dry. Not a single dry hit or even a hint of a burnt taste.

Flavour from the iClear 20D was quite good as was vapour production but you won’t be entering any cloud comps with this little setup.

Airflow on the iClear 20D was smooth & relatively quite.

Wide open it provided a reasonable Direct Lung vape while. With MTL it was necessary to almost completely close off the top airflow to obtain a good tight draw.

What I Liked

The sheer simplicity of this kit makes it an absolute joy to use.

It’s very pocket friendly so really great if you’re popping out and don’t want to lug a large mod and tank with you.

I used the EZ.TC on a number of evenings out and found the 1500mAh battery to be more than adequate for a good few hours.

What I Didn’t Like

The one and only issue I have with the iTaste EZ.TC is the bi-directional dial.

There is a little too much play in the dial and the number settings to not line-up with the marker, which would be better positioned on the base of the device and not the side.

Other than that I had no problems setting up and using the device and tank.

Final Review Verdict

The iTaste EZ.TC is a greater little kit from Innokin. Suitable for newcomers who don’t want to get bogged down in the technical side of vaping and also seasoned vaper who may be looking for a simple small vape setup or emergency backup device.

• Good battery life for an 1500mAh device

Cons

• Too much play in the bi-directional dial
• Position of the marker for setting pre-set temperatures could be better placed
