The Innokin Coolfire Z50 kit review, and today is a special day for me, as I’ve always been a big fan of Innokin so I’m excited to be taking a look at the newest addition.
Created in collaboration with YouTube Reviewers Phil Busardo and Dimitris Agrafiotis, this is part of the Platform series of tanks and now mods.
Founded in China 2011, Innokin has an extensive back catalogue of devices and tanks.
Back in the day Innokin had great success with all their e-cigarettes mods, especially their Coolfire range, and I have many of Innokin devices in my collection that I still use to this day!
Coolfire 1, Coolfire 4, Coolfire 4+, Coolfire 4 TC and Coolfire Mini.
Who could forget the hand grenade styled Coolfire 2!
Not me that’s for sure! I’ll never forget walking through Gatwick airport with it in my hand and being stopped by armed police!
After an extensive explanation of what the device was for and with a demo! I was told to put it in my pocket and leave it there until I left the airport grounds 🙂
Weirdly Innokin never did produce a Coolfire 3, strange that!
What Can We Expect From the Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit ?
The kit comes with the Innokin Zilde tank, I won’t be covering the Zlide in this review to any great extent basically because I can’t add anything more significant to the excellent review our Neil did for it!
The spare parts that come with the kit for the tank are quite impressive like always with Innokin products!
Innokin has released the kit in 5 colours so I’m sure you’ll find one to suit you.
The device will fire in variable wattage as well as variable volts, the internal battery is a large 2100mAh perfect for all day use.
Mouth to Lung vape style.
This product was sent direct from Innokin for the purpose of review – thank you!
As always my thoughts and views are my own after a considerable testing period.

Design and Build Quality
The kit comes very well presented in a card draw box, as you can see by my photos I was supplied with the black version decorated with a gold band around the top part of the body.
Z50 Mod
One thing I can say about Innokin is their products are always built at very high standards.
The Z50 is no exception to that rule, made of zinc alloy the device is solid with a bit of weight behind it.
We have a flush stainless steel 510 connection point with a firm spring loaded gold plated pin, the cap of the mod is held in position by 2 hatch screws, the diameter of the connection will hold atomizers up to 24mm.
Or front of the device separated from the main body by a plinth type protrusion it has a 0.69in OLED screen, which shows everything you need to know, the screen is bright and clean.
The fire button while plastic has a nice click to it as do the 2 plastic adjustment buttons.
As stated the body is made of zinc alloy, it has a mostly round appearance, to the side of the screen you will find a micro USB port for charging.
You will see that Innokin has added an on and off switch rather like the days of old and the original Coolfire 4, which I think was the last time I saw this type of switch associated with an Innokin product.
I can’t stress this enough the quality, design and manufacture of the Z50 mod it is exemplary! And very much in keeping with the earlier mods in the Coolfire range.
Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit – the Zlide Tank
While I’m not going to review the tank in it’s entirety, a quick few words are in order!
It is a 24mm top fill tank in order to fill up the child safety mouth piece has to be removed, and the fill port then opens on a slide (btw the tank holds 2ml liquid).
Innokin has included 2 coils with the tank
- 8Ω Kanthal (15 to 18W)
- 2Ω Kanthal (10 to 14W) pre installed.
The tank is compatible with the Innokin Z coils.
Overall the tank is of good quality and design.
How Does the Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit Perform?
I will be using the Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit with the Zlide tank, and for this review I have filled the tank with Large Salts “Crispy Coffee” 50/50 liquid, starting with the 1.02Ω coil and moving on to the 0.8Ω.
Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit Quick Start Guide
Innokin Zlide Tank
- Unscrew the airflow ring, choose your coil pre wick it.
- Slide it into the tank body re assemble the airflow ring.
- Remove the mouth piece and push open the fill port, fill the tank with e-liquid, I recommend either 50/50 or 70/30 liquids, close the port and replace the mouth piece.
Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit – Charge First!
Be sure before first use that the Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit is fully charged you can do this by plugging the Micro USB cable in the device and into a spare USB port on your computer.
If you don’t have a computer you can use a 1A USB charge plug. You can buy these at any B&M store or online for the price of a coffee.
- Turn the device on by flipping the switch on the bottom of the mod; click the fire button 3 times and away you go!
- To change between wattage and volts, hold down the fire button with up adjustment button for wattage, for volts repeat using the down adjustment and fire button.
- Adjust the watts and volts with the up and down button, the power will round robin.
- Pressing both adjustment buttons together will give you your puff count keep holding them down will flip the screen.
Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit – 1.2Ω Coil.
I started at 10w with the Zlide and very rapidly increased the wattage to 14w with the airflow wide open, as I found that the lower airflow holes simply too tight for me!
With the airflow wide open it was still a tight draw, the vapour production was good, the taste was a different matter it lacked the usual punch of a mouth to lung vape.
Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit – 0.8Ω Coil.
Keeping the airflow wide, I started out at 15w and increased to 18w, a restricted DTL.
The vapour was warmer and a lot thicker, the flavour was acceptable!
Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit – the Mod
There really isn’t much I can say about the Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit mod, it functions like it’s described in the promotional bumph.
It really is a straight forward of a device to use.
Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit – Battery Life
The internal 2100mah battery if used at 12w for a mouth to lung vape lasted me over 7 hours, which I thought was great going.
However, after I switched coils and pumped up the wattage to 18w I got about 5 hours vape time, still pretty good in my mind.
Charge time is slow over 2 hours, the mod does get quite warm while on charge!
I also noticed that Innokin have not included battery vent holes on the device, maybe this is why it get warm on charge?
I have tried several atomizers on the Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit, probably the funniest had to be the Freemax Pro Tank with the 6ml bubble glass it look almost silly lol.
Still at 50w the vapour was good and the flavour was just up my alley “very tasty”.
I even put on my old Mephistoe RDA with dual coils, it worked really well.
Pros
- Exemplary quality and design
- 6 to 50w
- Fires 0.2Ω and above
- Good vapour production
- Acceptable flavour from the Zlide tank and 0.8Ω coil
- Works great with other tanks and RDA’s
Cons
- No battery venting
- Mod gets warm while on charge
- Takes it’s time charging
Final Review Verdict
The Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit is the latest update in Coolfire range and is aimed at the vaping beginner or at the dedicated MTL vaper.
It has a 2100mAh battery with up to 50w power, pocket friendly with a great form factor, the mod fits the hand with almost stealth like quality!
Would I recommend the Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit?
The Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit is ideal for beginners or for experienced vapers looking for a second kit it will pair perfectly with mouth to lung, or low wattage sub ohm tanks or even small RDA’s.
I’ve got to say a big “Yes”!
Would I buy this kit again due loss or damage?
I think I’d buy just the mod as a replacement!
I have enough tanks and RDA’s that will work fine with the Innokin Coolfire Z50 Kit , not that I want you to get the wrong idea about the Zlide it’s a fair tank it just doesn’t float my boat flavour wise.
Have you used the Innokin Coolfire Z50 kit or thinking of buying it?
Let me know in the comments below – and of course fire away with any questions you might have 🙂
I recently purchased the mod only to pair with Zlide or Zenith tanks to replace the Zlide Tube, with which I have had problems (fire button failure, seized top sliding filler enabler). A very smooth vape, a little more flavour with the Zenith tank, but I think the Zlide is better suited to the mod. I think a rubber body or strip would be even better, as I find it slips a little in the hand, meaning I tend to have to use my little finger to support it. Overall I am very impressed with it, giving a score of 8.5/10.
Hi I bought this product the other day. Very happy with it. But the instructions are in not very helpful. I have a what looks like a full charged battery image permanently on! I’d also like to know what other functions the buttons have for example clicking fire button 3 times to switch off.
