Today I take a look at the iJoy Shogun UNIV Mod.
Lovely sleek design coupled with great performance, but, are you sure I haven’t seen you somewhere before?
What to Expect From The Shogun UNIV by iJoy
The Shogun is one of the latest releases from iJoy and is is a smart looking, sleek feeling dual cell, 18650 Mod offering a very respectable 180w.
The Shogun sits very well indeed in the hand, nice curves with nothing protruding which makes it a very comfortable Mod to hold. Another added bonus, even with dual 18650 batteries fitted, the Mod has a very light feel to it.
For me, the centralised 510 allowing for the fitting of an RTA/RDA of up to 28mm is a plus.
I received the iJoy Shogun in Splendor as you can see from the image above. The kit does come in five other colours.
This kit was sent to me for review bye Ave40. As always, I will give you my own, honest opinion of this product after a lengthy testing period.

Build Quality & Design
It’s always nice to get a nice new shiny piece of vape equipment but the box of the Shogun is pretty basic. On opening the box you are met by the device in all its glory.
As I’ve hinted at before, the iJoy Shogun UNIV does kind of resemble another popular device out there, the Voopoo Drag 2. That being said, I do find the Shogun a very good device in its own right.
The build quality is exceptional, no rattle, no jagged edges, very light because of the Zinc Alloy and fits in the hand very nicely indeed. The removable battery door fits to the body of the device very snugly and there is next to no movement from this.
The iJoy Shogun can be held either way. You can fire the Mod with a finger or turn the device around and fire it with your thumb.
Great looking Mod with a nice feel in the hand.
The battery door on this Mod is easily opened. Simply lift the door from the bottom of the device and off it comes. It is held into place by two strong magnets both top and bottom.
Upon lifting the door away you are met by the battery bay which houses two 18650 batteries.
OLED Display/Menu
You get a 0.96 inch OLED display which sits nice and neat under the fire button. All the general information you need is displayed in vibrant light. The display is just as noticeable in bright sunlight as it is in a dimly lit room.
A quick three clicks on the fire button brings up your settings, Power, Temp, Pod, Norm, Hard, Soft or User Setting, TCR adjustable setting then Puff Counter reset and display standby time settings. Very easy and functional settings indeed.
You have a multitude of protections and alerts from the iJoy Shogun
How does the iJoy Shogun UNIV Perform?
iJoy have always produced very solid, well performing devices and the iJoy Shogun UNIV was no exception. Right from the start, you can feel the quality of materials and the sturdiness of the device. You get no battery rattle or door wobble/rattle, everything works as it should and a centered 510 is the icing on the cake for a very well rounded, solid device.
The Mod is very quick to fire and in wattage mode is very close indeed when tested against some of my other devices.
How To Install The Batteries
Installation of the batteries couldn’t be easier. Put your nail/finger in the recess at the bottom of the battery door and lift it away from the body. You are then met with two slots to place your 18650 batteries. One thing to note, as with 99% of Mods I test, the markings for polarity could be marked so much better instead of leaving it the same colour as the rest of the device.
Pros
- Superb build quality
- Accurate Wattage Mode
- Clean menu system and easy to navigate
- Quick firing Mod
- Fits in the hand well
- Very good battery life
- Upgradable firmware
Cons
- N/A
Final Review Verdict
There isn’t really a lot more to say about the iJoy Shogun UNIV. It is very well made, it performs very well and it’s a nice looking Mod. I honestly can’t find a bad word to say about it and that’s a bit of a rarity from me. I’ve enjoyed using the Mod and will continue to use it in my daily/weekly rotation.
The device is very responsive and has a very clear menu system enabling you to also set the device up to meet your own personal vaping needs.
In conclusion, if you are on the lookout for a nice looking device, that sits in the hand well and does what is says on the tin, you would do well to look further than the iJoy Shogun.
Great writing review I have the ijoy shogun mod and I couldn’t agree more with the whole review i love the mod!
Thank you Graham. It certainly is a good piece of kit and ticks all the right boxes for sure
Hi, what juice mg and settings do you recommend for this device. Its my first device and I feel I’m doing something wrong. As I’ve tried a few different juices but it’s really harsh.
