The iJoy Elf is a mouth to lung tank with a unique bullet shape and a distinctive resin drip tip.
As a regular MTL vaper I was excited at getting my hands on one of these as I’d heard such good things about them.
Will the iJoy Elf Remain on the Shelf or Go in Rotation?
It comes with a couple of newly designed coils one of which technically should be capable of sub ohm direct to lung vaping.
So has this cute ‘n curvy little tank worked its MTL magic on me or will it remain as the Elf on the Shelf? Can it be classed as one of the best mouth to lung vape tanks on the market?
Let’s take a closer look.
As always my thoughts and opinions are my own.

Key Features
Apart from its cool looking bullet shape you get a unique coloured resin drip tip which really does add to the overall look of the Elf.
It is obviously a mouth to lung tank [MTL] with x2 coils firing between 15 to 35 watts the higher wattage coil technically being sub ohm – more on that later.
The Pyrex glass tank is covered by a removable protective sheath and there’s a decent amount of bottom airflow.
Given this is short with a dome shaped top you would expect the flavour to be good too.
It’s an easy top fill – screw off the top cap and drizzle in your juice – however you can’t change the coil with e-liquid still in your tank.
At 22mm it will fit most mods and pen style batteries and I’ve had no issues using it on a variety of devices from the Innokin Pebble to the VaporFi Vox 40.
The white pen style I tried to match it up with was a little too small however it does like nice on the new Innokin Oceanus.
Design and Build Quality
Straight out of the box and the whole thing came apart easily enough with decent threading.
However the sheath on the tank I received did have a little knick on it and had I have bought this I wouldn’t have been happy.
Design wise it’s certainly a cool looking tank however the funky coloured resin drip tip really does add to the overall look and I reckon the shape of it does too.
There’s a choice of colours: Black – Gold – Teal and the White version I received.
OK so apart from the scratch on mine it looks good and is put together OK so how does it vape?
How Does the iJoy Elf Tank Perform?
I have to say it’s on a par with the Aspire Nautilus 2 or should I say as close as you could get to the Nautilus 2 😉
As a regular Nautilus 2 user the Elf does have a ton of similar characteristics giving a decent amount of vapour and good flavour on both coils.
0.7ohm Coil
I was using my usual morning tobacco flavoured e-liquid at 50VG 50PG.
At 15 watts the taste was muted and it was only around 21 watts the iJoy Elf worked its magic and the flavour was impressive to say the least matching the N2 easily – good vapour too.
Obviously the less airflow you have open the tighter the draw with half closed giving a lovely rich flavour.
0.5 ohm Coil
I changed e-liquid for this one going for a 70/30 to see if I could take lung hits.
You can – but for regular sub ohm vapers there just isn’t the hit we’re used too.
However, you do get a lovely airy flavoursome vape that gives half decent clouds.
I’ve had zero leakage even holding it up so down – no gurgling and no spit back – the coils do have a spit guard on them.
And despite being just 2ml it doesn’t drink the juice and using this every morning for a fortnight the coils are still as fresh as a daisy.
What I Like
I love the design of the Elf and especially the coloured drip tip – though it seems to be pot luck on what colour you receive.
The shape of the tip won’t be for everyone and it is narrow – though you can swap that out for a 510 tip of your own.
I enjoyed the flavour and the vapour was certainly a surprise and with the higher wattage coil I was able to enjoy a gentle DTL vape – so not a bad tank for a beginner at all [as in they can try both vaping styles].
What I Don’t Like
Obviously I wouldn’t be happy with the scratch had I have bought the tank and I’m not sure what that says about how many knocks it will take.
Like the Nautilus 2 there’s no fill line which isn’t an issue for established vapers but newcomers [as we’ve seen in many comments] might overfill.
Final Review Verdict
As a regular MTL vaper [every morning lol] I was really looking forward to trying this tank and I haven’t been disappointed.
The flavour is good and as I’ve said the vapour was a surprise.
- The Elf isn’t going to replace my Nautilus 2 as my go to MTL tank – but it certainly wont be going ‘on the shelf’ but will definitely go into rotation.
I reckon this would be a great tank for a brand new vaper given the higher wattage coil is capable of giving a pleasant gentle introduction to sub ohm vaping whilst the lower wattage coil [particularly with the airflow half open] gives a tight draw.
Pros
- Choice of colours
- Funky drip tip
- 510 drip tip compatible
- X2 coils
- MTL and DTL
- Good flavour
- Good vapour
- Light on the e-liquid
- Decent price
Cons
- Mine came scratched
- Narrow bore drip tip may not be to everyone’s taste
I absolutely love to see nicer mtl products hitting the market!
I have been a vapour and non smoker for 4 years now MTL being my preference and I don’t think it is going to change now.I love all these beautiful new mods coming but soon get disappointed when I’m told there sub ohm.
I would really really like to see some nice mods coming out for us MTL people.
I realise a lot of us don’t need all the settings on the big sub ohm mods but that doesn’t mean we won’t pay good money for a nicely made lovely looking set up.
I have to agree with you – manufacturers do tend to either stick with ‘new’ pen style MTL devices or throw us a new mod or tank very occasionally – they need to remember what vaping is really all about – stopping smoking and therefore cater more for the MTL vapers out there 🙂
