Yes it is general election “fever” in the UK and all parties are vying for your vote!
One issue that unites vapers is the hope whichever political party are in power in July will be sympathetic to vaping.
The IBVTA (Independent British Vape Trade Association) are calling all parties to work collaboratively to help design any proposed vaping policy, law or regulation.
The IBVTA are…
“the trade organisation for all responsible and ethical independent vape businesses and represents the UK’s leading vape manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers.
The IBVTA and its members are entirely independent from the tobacco industry. “
They agree that the issue of Youth Vaping needs tackling but call for parties to recognise the proven role of vaping in supporting adult smoking cessation.

Main Points
There are 5 main points to the manifesto being…
- Vaping must be treated differently than smoking
- Potential health benefits must be recognised and embraced
- Flavours are vitally important to adults
- Regulation of single-use vapes must align with public health
- The illicit market can only be challenged with a radical rethink in policy
- The tax burden on vapes should balance relative harm to smoking
Each point is considered with facts, verification and information about why this is important.
It is a great read and I sincerely hope all political parties get on board – we can live in hope I suppose!
Our six-point manifesto sets out the vape sector’s asks and what the next government should ensure.
➡ Starting with the fundamental difference in purpose and risk: #vaping and smoking should not be treated as if they are the same thing.
