The Gemz Axis RTA is from a fairly new company to the vaping scene, based out of Shenzhen Shenzhen China. Their in house designers work closely together with their mechanical and engineering team to bring their visions to life.
Some of their other products include Prime mover RTA, Fogcity RTA and Luckstar RDTA.
The AXIS RTA is an interesting Rebuildable Tank Atomiser that has 3 ways to build on it! Let’s go take a close up look and see what this one’s about.

Design and Build Quality
The Axis RTA from Gemz is a single coil RTA that is made from stainless steel. The Axis RTA disassembles in 5 parts:
Build Deck/Airflow/510 The build deck and posts are made of gold plated stainless steel, the block design posts feature top and side clamps which gives you three ways of inserting the single coil (using both top clamps, using both side clamps or one clamp of each) with the positive post sitting on a peek insulator.
Between the block posts is a single wide hole which is your internal airflow.
The deck has 2 notches either side to hold your cotton tails. The base of the build deck has space for cotton and e-liquid under this you have an o ring to cushion the glass tank and to also stop leaks.
The bottom external airflow is smooth and operates very well being fully adjustable cylon type.
The bottom of the base has stainless steel 510 threading and a gold plated connection pin,
Coil cover/chimney/liquid fill port
These are manufactured a single piece:
The Axis RTA is a top fill tank handled by the 2 kidney shaped fill ports, under the fill ports feature an o ring which the glass tank sits, above the fill ports you have a short male thread this screws into the top cap.
Top cap/ PEI driptip
The tank is compatible with most 810 goon style drip-tips, also an o ring sits around the section that connects to the fill port to stop leaks.
2.5ml or 4ml Pyrex glass tank
The RTA has two options of Pyrex tanks one will hold 2.5ml of liquid and the bubble tank that is pre installed will hold 4ml.
The build and design quality of this RTA is excellent I am impressed with the overall look and feel of this RTA really it is beautiful.
A quick guide to coiling and filling the AXIS RTA
A plus point of the the Gemz Axis RTA is that you don’t have to empty the tank to change your wicks and coils.
Just turn the RTA upside down and unscrew the base! To install your coil place the leads through the post clamps and tighten the screws down (you have a choice of 3 ways to install your coil, the box says 2 but it is possible).
Method 1
Method 2
Method 3
Wick as you normally would and tuck the cotton into the 2 wick spaces making sure they just peek under the bottom of the build deck, moisten your wick and coils with E-liquid, re assemble your RTA and fill through the large kidney shaped fill ports under the top cap.
I suggest that you give the RTA a few minutes to soak up more liquid before first use.
A word about leaking RTA’s!
Many people get disillusioned by their RTA’s leaking! Take your time when wicking; it’s a trial and error process, sadly we can’t get away with that!
The diameter of your coil is dependent on how much cotton you use.
I air on the side of pulling off more cotton than needed and trimming down as I see fit.
I suggest with the Axis RTA, you need enough cotton so you can just move it when you put it through the coil. Fluff your cotton and as you are tucking it into the wick spaces press the cotton backward and slightly inwards, you want to make sure that no cotton interferes with the coil cover thread or you might experience leaks!
How Does Gemz AXIS RTA Perform?
For this review I first used a single 1.0ohm 24g 4mm kanthal coil, my own coconut cheesecake e liquid and on my VooPoo DRAG.
20w
With the airflow wide open I was surprised to find that the vapour was quite thick with a very acceptable straight to lung (STL) hit the vape was cool with good flavour.
Dropping the airflow down to half I was able to get a very descent mouth to lung draw again the vape was cool with a good amount of vapour the flavour was very good.
Changing the coil (which is very easy to do just unscrew the base) I used a 0.25ohm 20g 4mm kanthal coil and the same liquid.
50w
Airflow wide open with a STL vape the resulting vapour was thick creamy and warm the flavour was to me excellent and very tasty.
80w
Airflow fully open I was able to almost fill my small office lol! Again the flavour was good but not as great as at 50 to 60w, I experienced some spit back and the vape was a little too hot for my micro lungs lol.
I’ve now settled at 55w for my sweet spot with this RTA giving a good balance between flavour, vapour and warmth with the airflow open wide.
What I Like
The deck with three possible ways to install the coil to me added a little variety in the mundane task, needless to say with the bubble glass installed 4ml of liquid is a god send compared to the smaller 2.5ml straight tank. The airflow is swooshy and I didn’t get any dry hits or leaking in the time I tested this RTA. I also like the fact that they include a couple of coils in the box
What I Didn’t Like
It’s got to be said I personally hate the bubble glass, to me it just doesn’t look as nice as it does when the 2.5ml straight tank is installed. Wicking this RTA can take a little practice to get the balance of the right amount of cotton in and avoiding the coil cover threads. No spare driptip or adaptor was included with this RTA.
Final Review Verdict
The Gemz AXIS RTA is a good looking tank that is easy to coil and it vape’s very well at low to medium wattage’s with good flavour.
I would say this would be an excellent RTA for both new and more experienced users alike.
Would I buy the Gemz AXIS RTA again if lost or damaged? Yes I would, it’s easy to use and delivers good vapour and flavour.
