We’ve got the latest addition to the Geekvape Wenax range, with the Geekvape Wenax Q Pro featuring in this review!

Geekvape Wenax Q Pro reviewThere’s a lot of devices featuring the Wenax name already. Such as the Wenax Stylus, Wenax K1, Wenax U and Wenax Q. Most recently we’ve reviewed the Geekvape Wenax Q Mini.

Geekvape really made a name for themselves way back in 2016 with the Geekvape Griffin RTA and Geekvape Tsunami RDA.

They have grown into one of the largest and most recognisable brand names in the industry. Plus they have won a string of awards along the way, including cleaning up some awards in the Ecigclick Awards over the years!

What Can We Expect From The Geekvape Wenax Q Pro?

You’ve got a refillable and reusable pod kit here, but one that has been built to last and to handle wear and tear. As well as a fancy and futuristic design to boot!

A shock-absorbent silicone base (or ‘Anti-drop bottom’ according to Geekvape) is built into the device, which has been designed to cushion any blows the Geekvape Wenax Q Pro might receive if you accidentally drop it.

You’ve also got a built-in 1200mAh battery designed to last a full day between charges. Thanks to the turbo 5V/2A fast USB-C charging you can expect a charging time of 30 minutes, getting you back vaping in no time at all!

A 3-Level airflow adjustment system allows you to seamlessly switch between mouth to lung and restricted direct lung vaping options. We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide To Vaping Styles.

The Geekvape Wenax Q Pro is compatible with the Q series of pods, so you can choose from 0.6ohm, 0.8ohm and 1.2ohm depending on your own preference.

Geekvapes latest VPU chipset provides a mellower taste, long usage lifespan and a safer vape thanks to the built-in safety protections. It also provides up to 30W of adjustable output power making this device one of the more powerful pod systems on the market.

Not only that, you’ve got some futuristic additions with Haptic-enabled buttons and vibration feedback as well. This pod system also boasts a large 0.96” smart screen with Geekvapes Aurora user interface!

Vape Club kindly sent us the Geekvape Wenax Q Pro to review, so let’s dive into it a little further. But before I get going, I must make you aware that all views are my own and solely based on my experiences with this pod system!

Design & Build Quality

Right out of the box, one thought that first came to my mind was just how light this device felt. I was expecting it to be a lot heavier in hand than it is!

Size-wise, you are looking at dimensions of 120mm x 26mm x 18mm and a weight of 66g.

Geekvape Wenax Q Pro in hand

And this is a really stylish little device that looks the absolute part. You’ve got eight different finishes to pick from: Aurora Green, Black, Moonlit Silver, Sunburst Gold, Starlight Grey, Azure Blue, Luminous Purple and Twilight Red to pick from.

I did receive the Twilight Red version to review, which I did feel was a bit more of a magenta colour to me!

A standout feature here is the 0.96” Smart Screen, which is in colour and features Geekvapes Aurora UI. This displays an animation when you vape and displays information such as a puff counter, power output, battery percentage and coil resistance.

Information is displayed clearly on the screen and I liked the fact that the user interface didn’t seem too cluttered up with information.

You’ve got just what you need here. Plus, this screen performed well in all light conditions from light to dark.

user interface

A really cool feature here is the haptic up and down buttons that light up when using the menu functions. These registered all button presses with no issues during use.

Above the screen is a large power button with the Wenax logo above it.

Pressing the button makes it light up and also you’ll get some vibration from the device as well! On the opposite side the Geekvape logo is laser-etched into the device.

The sides feature the 3-Level airflow control and the USB-C charging port on opposing sides. Built into the device is a 1200mAh battery and the newest edition of the Geekvape VPU chip.

On the base is a thick old lump of silicone, which is the ‘anti-drop bottom’. This is designed to absorb shocks if you drop your Geekvape Wenax Q Pro, helping protect it against wear and tear as well as damage.

Pod-wise, there’s compatibility with the 0.6ohm, 0.8ohm and 1.2ohm Q Pods and it seems there will also be a 0.4ohm Q Pod coming to market shortly!

Pods connect seamlessly to the device thanks to the magnetic connection and when connecting a pod the device will vibrate and play an animation on screen.

geekvape branding

A small, very small, downside with the design of the device and the pods is that you cannot see the full capacity of the pod and need to remove it to check how much e-liquid is left when the pod is under half full.

Quick Start Guide

First of all you need to decide between using either the 0.6ohm Q Pod (which comes pre-installed) or the 0.8ohm pod.

pod and battery wenax q pro

Then you are going to need to fill up your pod with e-liquid!

How To Fill The Geekvape Wenax Q Pro Pod

  • Pop off the mouthpiece to reveal the filling port (it’s the larger of the two holes on the pod).
  • Insert the bottle nozzle of your e-liquid bottle into the port and fill it up, taking care not to overfill it.
  • how to fill wenax q pro podOnce filled, let it stand for five minutes before vaping to allow e-liquid to fully saturate the cotton – this will also protect against a dry/burnt taste.

Functions

  • To turn the device on and off: five clicks of the power button will do this for you.
  • Auto Draw / Manual Firing: There’s a choice of using the auto-draw system or pressing the power button to fire the device.
  • Wattage Adjustment: If you want to adjust the wattage quickly, three quick clicks of the power button will bring up the wattage adjustment. Then the haptic up and down buttons will become visible, allowing you to scroll from 8W all the way up to 30W. Just press the power button when you have reached your desired wattage output to select it.
  • Airflow: Airflow can be adjusted by using the slider on the side of the device, which has a nice and smooth travel and is easy to use.

  • Menu / Modes: Four clicks of the power button will bring up the menu and of course, the haptic up and down buttons. Mode is the first option available and by pressing the power button, you will be able to select between Smart mode or Power mode.

Charging

You guessed it—the Geekvape Wenax Q Pro is charged via USB-C, which is the industry standard!

USB C Charge portYou’ll find the USB-C charging port located on the side of the device and you simply need to plug the charging cable into the port.

A big advantage here that this device has over other pod systems is the speed in which it recharges.

You have 5V/2A fast charging, which means the 1200 mAh battery built into the device can be recharged from flat to full in around 30 minutes. You can get back to vaping in no time at all!

How Does The Geekvape Wenax Q Pro Perform?

Included with the kit is a 0.6ohm and a 0.8ohm Q Pod.

mouthpiece podThis is also compatible with the 1.2ohm Q pod (sold separately) and the 0.4ohm Q Pod, which has been specially designed for use with the Wenax Q Pro… But it doesn’t actually seem to be available in the UK yet at the time of writing.

I’ll be very interested to get my hands on the 0.4ohm pod and see how it performs once it is available!

0.6ohm

The 0.6ohm pod is the one that comes pre-installed with the device and was my favourite out of the two. This has a recommended wattage range of 18-25W… But I’ve been a bit naughty and have been using it at 27-30W without issue in Power mode – without issue I might add!

I preferred this pod as I am primarily a restricted lung hit vaper and this is best suited for that out of the two included pods. This is a slightly tighter hit than I prefer, even with the airflow fully open.

0.8ohm

The 0.8ohm pod has a recommended wattage range of 12-18W, but again you can push this a bit further in Power mode above 20W.

You can still get a restricted lung hit from this pod, but it’s better suited to mouth-to-lung vaping in my opinion. Flavour is a bit cooler than the 0.6ohm pod but there’s still some nice flavour delivery here and again I get smooth vape too.

Pod Lifespan

Lifespan-wise, you can expect to get between seven and eight refills before the taste starts to deteriorate. At which point you are going to need to change your pod over for a new one.

If you look closely at the airflow, you’ll see three small slots when fully open.

When all three are open, you’ll get a pretty tight restricted lung hit, which is borderline mouth-to-lung in my opinion. Two airflow slots open is more of a traditional mouth-to-lung hit. One open is a tight mouth-to-lung – probably best used in conjunction with the 1.2ohm pod I would imagine!

geekvape wenax q pro front view

With all the features that the device packs, I did find that when using it at 20-25W, the battery lifespan was considerably shortened.

I would struggle to get anywhere near a full day’s use out of it. Switching on ‘Eco’ mode would prolong the lifespan though, so if you are in a bind and the battery is running low, it is worth taking advantage of that option.

Pros

  • Very smart design
  • Haptic technology and vibration feedback is a nice touch
  • Surprisingly lightweight
  • Lots of power available here – up to 30W!
  • Smooth airflow control
  • Very quick to charge up
  • Easy top-filling system

Cons

  • Restricted direct lung vape is borderline mouth-to-lung
  • Device finish is a fingerprint magnet
  • Pod needs removing to gauge exactly how much e-liquid you have left
  • Battery life is less than a day when using it at 25W and above

Final Review Verdict

I reviewed the Geekvape Wenax Q Mini at the start of the year, which was the first Wenax pod system I have used. I really enjoyed using it but in the end, I felt it was a little basic and could have done with a few more features.

So, clearly I was pretty pleased to get my hands on the Wenax Q Pro. I really enjoyed the extra features on this more ‘full fat’ system! Of course, it does cost a little more, but for the price you are getting quite a bit more for your money.

Some may find the haptic technology and vibration feedback a little bit ‘gimmicky’. But personally, I quite enjoyed these features and I felt that they helped to set the Wenax Q Pro apart from a lot of the other pod systems on the market. And the screen on this device is an absolute delight!

Yes, all those extra features mean nothing if the Geekvape Wenax Q Pro offers sub-par performance. The battery life is a little on the short side, but it makes up for this with rapid charging.

But it does tick all of the boxes when it comes to flavour delivery and pod lifespan. That being said, I personally feel that this is a device that caters more toward mouth-to-lung vapers.

Finally, I had to ask myself, is this a device that I will continue to use in the future? And the answer is yes, I most definitely will be. I’m already going to be buying a new pack of Q Pods for this!

Vaping full time since 2012, started on cigalikes for a while then curiosity got the better of me and I moved onto an vape pens, a month or two later I was seeing people walking around with these interesting shiny tubes and I thought 'I gotta get one of those'. Before I knew it a trip down to my local B&M got me my first VW mod, an Innokin SVD, paired with an iClear 30, and I was hooked. Soon after that I was jumping to VW mods both box and tube shaped, before I then made the jump to rebuilding and thus sub ohming, with my first RDA and mech mod. These days I've come back to convenience and mainly use pods, disposables and the VOOPOO Drag H40. Most importantly I am still loving vaping!
