GeekVape GBOX Squonk Kit Build Quality & Design
GeekVape Radar RDA
At the top of the RDA we have the 810 drip tip which is made from delrin and is nicely sized! this can be replaced with the included (or your own) 510 drip tip using the adapter supplied in the spares.
Below this we have the airflow adjusting top cap and outer barrel. These both look to be made from stainless steel and powder coated in black with ‘RADAR’ engraved into the outside of the barrel.
There are different cut-outs in the top cap allow for full airflow adjustment to suit your vaping style from fully open to a closed down, restricted airflow.
The deck has a unique dual angled post design and a hollow 510 positive pin to allow the e-liquid to reach the wicks inside the atomiser.
And the deck is quite big! Nicely sized to fit some chunky coils on and deep enough to prevent any leakage if you tend to over squonk.
At the base we have the 510 connector which has a nicely protruding centre pin that is hollow to allow e-liquid to pass through it onto the deck.
The GeekVape GBOX Mod:
At the top we have the 510 connector that is surrounded by stainless steel threading.
The centre pin is hollow to allow e-liquid from the squonk bottle reach the atomiser. I would say that 24, maybe 25mm are the largest atomisers you can put on here without any overhang.
On the front of the device we have a large smoked screen which houses the OLED screen, fire button and +/- buttons. Below the screen is the micro USB port.
Around the back we have the recess for the squonk bottle and some nice GBOX branding.
The bottle is easily accessible using your fingers and the bottle has a nice bit of flex to it for ease of squonking.
At the base we have the battery door, and it is absolutely solid as a rock! There is no movement side to side which is absolutely great.
Opening the door gives access to the battery compartment and squonk bottle which can be easily slid in and out for refilling.
The gold plated contacts are clearly marked with the correct polarity for the batteries, just to avoid any confusion.
How Does the GeekVape Radar RDA Perform?
Overall, the Geekvape Radar RDA isn’t amazing, but it isn’t poor. I would say that it is more orientated towards cloud chucking than flavour.
The deck is slightly awkward to build on to begin with due to the angled post holes, but once you get the hang of it, it isn’t too hard. But with the post style, it allows you to put some huge coils in there with ease. The only thing you’re restricted by is the size of the post holes.
I personally prefer the airflow closed down as it produces better flavour compared to having it fully open, but it all depends on what suits you best.
How Does the GeekVape GBOX Perform?
The Geekvape GBOX performs quite nicely indeed! Instant firing, accurate on the wattage reading and the other modes like Temperature Control, Bypass and VPC work flawlessly. The only thing I would change about the mod is the brightness of the screen, it is pretty dim in all lighting conditions and pretty difficult to read in direct sunlight.
The squonking action feels pretty good too! The bottle has a nice amount of rigidness to it, but not too hard to make it difficult to squeeze, and it dispenses a decent amount of e-liquid into the atomiser to save having to squeeze multiple amount of times to saturate the wicks.
Pros
- Solid construction and design
- Great mod performance
- Menus easy to navigate
- Feels great in the hand
Cons
- RDA flavour could be better
- Awkward build deck
- Screen a little dark
Final Review Verdict
Overall, a great little kit for anyone looking to get into squonking. The Geekvape GBOX mod performs greatly, but the Radar RDA could be better in terms of flavour, so you may want to put your own bottom fed RDA on there.
