In for review today is the Elf Bar ELFA pre-filled pod kit.
Just lately I’ve become very familiar with the Elf Bar range of disposable vapes. I took a look at the Elf Bar 600, T600 and CR500 in a recent review and concluded that flavour quality was consistently impressive across the board.
As a dedicated refillable pod kit, the Elf Bar FB1000 pretty much knocked my socks off. For a first time effort it succeeded where other more established manufacturers were still struggling.
So in many ways, the Elf Bar ELFA pre-filled pod kit kind of bridges a gap between the two. On appearances alone it looks just like another disposable e-cigarette.
It’s clearly not though as the rechargeable battery follows in the footsteps of the FB1000 while the pods are pre-filled with existing popular Elf Bar flavours.
Sounds like a winning combo! Let’s delve further.
What Can We Expect From The Elf Bar ELFA Pre-filled Pod Kit?
For a start, you’ll only need to replace the pre-filled pod once empty. The battery can be continually recharged via type C USB.
Elf Bar refer to this as ‘the sustainable idea of no wasted battery’ which is a fair enough comment. Less for the recycling centres.
The pre-filled pods come with 2ml TPD (4ml outside the EU) of 20mg nicotine salt based e-liquid. The mesh coil is said to bring a highly authentic taste and rich vapour when powered by the 500mAh integrated battery.
The TPD version is said to last up to 600 puffs before the pod needs replacing. Its non EU counterpart more than doubles that thanks to an increased 850mAh battery capacity.
Type C USB charging is said to be very fast, so I’ll be testing that out too.
The Elf Bar ELFA pre-filled pod kit relies entirely on an auto draw function. This means you only have to inhale on the mouthpiece and it will fire up automatically.
An LED lights up at the base when the pod is removed and whilst vaping.
It comes in six colour schemes. Aurora Blue (under review), Aurora Purple, Black, Navy Blue, Orange or white. Each one comes shipped with a pod filled with Blue Razz Lemonade.
There are a further 12 flavours on offer including beverage, fruits and dessert based profiles. I’m going to take a look at six of these today with the remainder to follow over the next few weeks via updates.
Be aware at the time of writing, the true score hasn’t been settled yet as I still have some more flavours pending review!

OK. On with some flavour testing and we’ll start with the one that comes included with the pod kit. The pre-filled pods are available for purchase in a twin blister pack.
Elf Bar ELFA – Blue Razz Lemonade
Elf Bar Says:
A tangy sweet note of fizzy Lemonade that will tantalise your taste buds like no other. It’s perfectly balanced and infused with a delicious Blue Raspberry flavour to create a refreshing vape experience.
I Say:
Plenty of sweetness drops onto the tongue after every exhale. It’s a refreshing change not to have such a high degree of it either. This allows the full impact of the included flavours to pull through and become more focused.
The Lemonade content really does feel authentic and doesn’t overwhelm the vape experience. Another plus, in my honest opinion. It’s presented in much more of a subtle way but adds to the thirst quenching appeal.
The Raspberry content is also very well balanced and is laced in with the Lemonade to create something of an authentic and original blend.
If I were to be really picky I think the Coolada is slightly overplayed but others will probably appreciate its inclusion.
Blue Razz Lemonade is an extremely refreshing beverage vape and one that’s bound to do well over the Summer months. I simply cannot fault the flavour description..
Elf Bar ELFA – Strawberry Ice Cream
Elf Bar Says:
This flavour of Strawberry ice cream features wonderful creamy notes of ice cream that are then perfectly blended together with sweet summer Strawberries that works to create a wonderfully delicate yet fruity vape experience.
I Say:
I have to be honest, as soon as I opened the blister pack I knew I was in for a treat. That’s because of the heavenly aroma seeping through the silicone mouthpiece stopper!
I wasn’t disappointed either. Strawberry Ice Cream represents the coming together of a very creamy, milky Strawberry beverage. I say beverage because it’s more in keeping with a Yazoo chilled drink.
As much as the cooling agent tries to replicate the icy content it never really works. I find this with many similar profiles in that it actually detaches from the rest of the vaping experience.
It belongs merely as a token gesture and for me is simply an unnecessary distraction. There’s certainly plenty of dairy notes to hold things together and the strawberry is more akin to the foam sweet version with some artificial sweetener thrown in.
It’s quite rich and textured too which is something I can appreciate. For this reason, what I would’ve subtracted in points (cooling agent) I’m putting back for overall flavour quality – which I think is great!
I would personally urge anyone that likes their Strawberry milkshakes to give this one a whirl. It doesn’t disappoint.
Elf Bar ELFA – Cranberry Grape
Elf Bar Says:
Enjoy the crisp flavour of juicy Grapes making way for tart Cranberry notes on the exhale.
I Say:
This looks like a brand new addition to the Elf Bar stable. What’s it like for flavour?
If I’m completely honest it’s a bit of an odd one but in a good way. I’ve never tasted anything quite like it which may, for some at least, be a pleasant change.
The usual synthetic tasting Grape is still present. Yes, I’ve never actually vaped Grape in the way I’d truly appreciate it but there’s added layering of other fruit here.
There’s definitely a fresh Orange in there which knocks out some of the sourness I experience with Grape vapes. Cranberry is said to be quite sour in itself but there’s more of a sharper edge and more citric around the edges.
Cranberry Grape is also stuffed full of sweetener and that Coolada is once again something of a domineering disaster. However, the general flavour notes are quite appealing and the artificial tasting Grape more acceptable this time around.
Elf Bar ELFA – Blueberry Cotton Candy
Elf Bar Says:
Blueberry Cotton Candy features the moreish flavours of Blueberries that have sweet highlights and is paired with some deliciously fluffy and sweet Cotton Candy that all works together to create a decadent vape experience and a sugary aftertaste.
I Say:
As with Strawberry Ice Cream there’s another appealing aroma wafting once the seal’s been broken on the blister pack. It bodes well..
There’s a distinct build up of chilling air during the inhale followed up by a high degree of sweetness that catapults the flavours into life. I have to say this is one of the best renditions of Blueberry I’ve vaped to date.
It’s incredibly authentic and after eight years of vaping has been worth the wait! It seems to create a channel of its own towards the end of the exhale but not before blending perfectly with what I’m experiencing as Strawberry.
The level of sweetness is what I would’ve expected from this profile and it zips around playfully on the taste buds providing a lip smackingly good vibe. It’s identical to the tail end of eating Candy Floss.
This time the level of Coolada, which is still in abundance actually helps to create a very refreshing vape.
This one is perfect for the summer holiday period, in my opinion.
There’s no denying the quality of the blended ingredients with Blueberry Cotton Candy. I’m giving it a straight ten!
Elf Bar ELFA – Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava
Elf Bar Says:
This flavour captures sweet and tangy notes of exotic Kiwis paired with tantalizing Passion Fruit highlights and tropical Guava on the exhale to create a delicious tropical medley of flavours that will satisfy the taste buds with each and every puff.
I Say:
There’s not so much in the way of cooling with the build up to Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava. The sweetness takes longer to pull through on the inhale too but radiates out during the exhale.
I would have to say that first and foremost with the flavour experience is Mango. It’s very sweet but there are also a lot of citrus notes on show. I can pick out faint traces of Orange and there are certainly a few back notes of Pineapple underpinning the vape.
Tangy is also a word I’d use to describe this one. It runs through the centre of the exhale providing a degree of texture and tone along the way.
It’s quite a complex array of flavour notes in all honesty. They do come together to create that tropical vibe and not dissimilar to the experience of downing a can of lilt.
It’s one of those vapes that becomes more and more appealing as its vaped because you’re never quite sure which flavour note is going to hit next.
Again there’s a healthy dose of Coolada included but it definitely complements the vape.
I dig this summer fruit concoction. I’m off down the beach for a vape!
Elf Bar ELFA – Banana
Elf Bar Says:
Banana has a bold, rich flavour with truly tropical notes that feature throughout every puff.
I Say:
This may be a relative newcomer to the Elf Bar range. They’ve given us Banana Milk and Banana Ice but this time it’s a straight.. Banana!
So how does it vape?
As you might imagine, it knocks out one helluva smell when opening the blister pack. There’s no denying it’s a sweetie type of vape and that’s very noticeable during the inhale as well.
It adheres to the exhale too, leaving a layer on the tongue. I must admit there do seem to be a few ripe notes running through the heart of the vape and it’s not quite the foam sweet variety I was predictably expecting.
There’s a little more depth to Banana than the standard generic fodder often unleashed onto the unsuspecting new vaper.
Admittedly it’s helped along by a massive amount of sweetener but carries a very pleasant after taste. I’d have to say it’s a mixture between ripe and foam sweet.
In this respect, Elf Bar have managed to pull it off. Put simply, the fruit works.
One finally thing to note. There’s still an elevated level of Coolada applied suggesting it takes its cue from Banana Ice and maybe, just maybe should carry the same title..
So if you were looking for a dessert influenced vape you may well be disappointed.
Elf Bar ELFA – Blueberry Sour Raspberry
Elf Bar Says:
Blueberry Sour Raspberry blends two popular vape flavours with a seriously sour note.
I Say:
Whoa! This one’s incredibly sweet on the inhale. It doesn’t take long to pull through either. There’s even a hint of sherbet thrown in unless my taste buds are deluded.
It’s also very sour during the first part of the exhale. The flavour from Blueberry Sour Raspberry is intense, and I mean intense. I’ve already mentioned the sweetness to the vape and it’s attenuated by the Raspberry which is both bright and lively.
Lest I forget the Blueberry because it’s also in there but blended in and not so strong.
Being so intense on flavour, neither fruit can be described as authentic so once again we get a sweets inspired version instead.
I can’t finish the review without mentioning the Coolada. It merely massages the throat during the inhale. It does have a tendency to freeze the lips too but thankfully it doesn’t hang around for long.
Personally? I can’t wrap my head around the sweet and sour properties which for me, are a bit too much. However there’s no denying the flavour description is on point.
Elf Bar ELFA – Strawberry Kiwi
Elf Bar Says:
Strawberry Kiwi begins with a sweet, tropical flavour and develops into a layered fruit vape.
I Say:
I’m glad these come in a twin blister pack because the first one I tested was DOA. The purchasing vaper isn’t likely to feel the same sense of relief, though. Just saying..
I’m instantly reminded of the Strawberry Ice Cream prefilled pod upon first impressions. I’d even hazard a guess Elf Bar have used the same concentrate. The reason I say this is because the Strawberry is very creamy and much like the version carved out by a spoon.
I can’t really make out any Kiwi content, either. I know it’s similar to Strawberry and if it’s there gets lost in translation – I can’t notice any blending.
So there’s no tropical notes to be found here, unfortunately.
The level of sweetness is more than acceptable and so is the cooling agent which never goes beyond the back of the tongue. The throat doesn’t get a searing which is cool. Kewl.
..You know what I mean!
To be honest, there’s not a lot of difference between this and the dairy inspired Strawberry Ice Cream.
Elf Bar ELFA – Pink Lemonade
Elf Bar Says:
Pink Lemonade is a tangy combination of citrusy Lemon, fizzy soda and a subtle twist of mixed berries.
I Say:
The smell of Lemon is quite acute when I rip open the blister pack. Boy, oh boy! This one has plenty of tanginess on both inhale and on the way out. It’s a very welcome addition here because it bounces off the Lemon and associated citrus notes.
This is a vape that tries its utmost to reproduce a soda like taste and to a degree works because the exhale emits a syrup like quality. The Coolada does a lot to reinforce that by leaving its iciness on the rear of the throat.
There’s just the faintest hint of Orange and it permeates through during exhale. I wouldn’t say it was blended in, just added as a token gesture.
As for mixed berries? The creation is scant in that regard. I can’t say I noticed much going on there.
Pink Lemonade is still a cool, refreshing and tasty vape regardless and one I’ll enjoy vaping over the summer months.
Elf Bar ELFA – Cola
Elf Bar Says:
Cola brings the taste of this classic drink to your vape with sweet and fizzy notes from start to finish.
I Say:
A medium chill hits the rear of the throat to accompany this Cola beverage. It’s your traditional Cola taste too. It’s high on syrupy content and just as much with the level of sweetness.
The sweet nature of the vape means that the taste buds are regularly satisfied. In a lip smackingly good way.
After a short while I began to notice how the chill factor was playing with the inside of the cheeks and rear of the throat. This created something of a different vape experience and certainly helped to keep Cola very refreshing from start to finish.
However, I didn’t notice any of the fizzy content that’s mentioned in the flavour description. This does mean the profile feels a bit on the flat side. It’s still a strong, concentrated flavour but loses the effect of the OG beverage unfortunately.
Elf Bar ELFA – Watermelon
Elf Bar Says:
Capturing sweet juicy notes of Watermelon with a hint of ice to create a tasty and satisfying vape experience throughout with a fruity aftertaste.
I Say:
There’s a sweet, icy blast created during the build up on the inhale which follows through quite intensely on the way out. Watermelon is going to coat the back of the throat with its use of Coolada and for the long summer months may be no bad thing!
It’s another simple, single flavour profile and the Watermelon isn’t just the same as the usual generic fodder offered in corner chops. It has flavour quality of its own offering a muskiness around the edges of the exhale.
The flavour is also consistent and holds up well for the duration of the vape. There’s also a bitterness and tangy like quality added which gives the fruit a few complexities.
In fact it gets a good chance to shine against a backdrop of sweetness and Coolada so a decent balance is achieved.
Just be aware the ice cold content takes grip very early on and lingers for quite some time after the vape has ended.
Elf Bar ELFA – Elfbull
Elf Bar Says:
Capturing sharp notes of energy drink with strong flavour highlights to create a tasty and satisfying vape experience throughout.
I Say:
The Coolada in Elfbull isn’t as intense as some of the others tested and that makes for a refreshing change. Talking of refreshing, this one certainly is!
Yes, again it’s packed with sweetness but lies behind a very authentic tasting energy drink. I’m sure we all know which one. It has a very distinctive candy flavour, like a mix between sweets and beverage.
There’s a lot, and I mean a lot of flavour depth to Elfbull. The ice cold nature of the vape builds on the inhale after which the sweeter qualities spill out while mixing with that classic beverage taste.
The taste holds its own throughout the vape and lingers on the palate afterwards for quite some time.
You get all the refreshing quality of an energy drink without the caffeine too. What more could I ask for?
I’ll be vaping this one quite a lot over the summer months, methinks!
Pros
- Fantastic flavour from each blister pack
- Vapour production perfectly replicates the draw from a cigarette
- Very good mouth to lung experience – ideal for the new vaper
- Easy to swap and change flavours
- Lightweight and portable
Cons
- May be too sweet for some
- Coolada can sometimes overwhelm the taste experience
- No LED to indicate when connecting pod to battery section
Battery Performance
I got six hours continuous use from the battery before needing to recharge with a cable of my own. I still hadn’t run out of the 2ml of e-liquid inside the pre-filled pod.
The white ring at the base of the battery gives no indication of the state of charge so the pod kit will eventually just stop working. Although the detachable pod is comprised of black PCTG, there’s another indication of when juice is running low.
It struggles to wick efficiently and a gurgling sound will be heard during inhale. This also means the vape will begin to taste a little wet and dry hitting is likely to occur.
When recharging, the white LED remains lit and simply switches off when complete. It’s not exactly the fast charging Elf Bar suggest as it takes around 90 minutes to complete.
Pass through charging (ability to vape) is still possible for those of an impatient nature.
Pod Kit Performance
I have absolutely no issues with the performance of the ELFA pre-filled pod kit. Each and every vape consistently delivers and roughly speaking each pod lasts the duration of a single charge.
As for 600 puffs?
I try to remain diligent but I’m far too forgetful to remember any puff count! lol
The flavours are bright, lively and very tasty. Where blending is concerned, Elf Bar have got things well and truly nailed down. The inhale is quiet, smooth, turbulent free and the 1.2ohm mesh coil is highly effective.
Airflow is prefixed and the restriction delivers a perfect mouth to lung vape. That’s very evident when studying the vapour production. It produces the same volume as that of cigarette smoke.
The ELFA weighs about the same as a cigarette and is roughly the same length. That’s something the new vaper will also appreciate. Familiarity during the transition period plays a vital role in making the switch across to vaping.
There’s also very little weight to the kit, making it highly portable and very pocket friendly.
Elf Bar ELFA Pre-filled Pod Kit – Final Review Verdict
I love the idea of being able to swap and change the pods over in the blink of an eye. OK, I was lucky enough to receive the full range but it does demonstrate the versatility of pre-filled pods with rechargeable batteries.
There’s no messing with cleaning out pods or replacing coils. A new vaper is always attracted to the simplicity of vaping and the ELFA really shines in this respect.
I’m known for enjoying a restrictive Direct to Lung (DTL) vape and while it is possible with this pod kit, actually works better as a Mouth to Lung (MTL) vape. We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide to Vape Styles.
The airflow restriction is bang on point because the flavours are so focused and concentrated.
The pods attach to the battery via magnets and they fit a specific way. You may have to spin it until it clicks into place – just don’t try to force it in! For this reason it would’ve made sense for the LED to indicate that the pod was correctly installed. It only does so when removing the pods.
The only real reason for deducting points is in the way the cooling agent is sometimes applied. The level of sweetness may also not be to everyone’s taste.
Other than that, Elf Bar have gone and done it again! Pitch perfect blending and amazing flavour quality.
Did you buy the Elf Bar Elfa Kit? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Seeing the above comments made me want to add my experience. I have been using the Elfa for 2 days (6am-10pm yesterday and today). I was a chain-smoker of unfiltered roll-ups, so I vape often and longer puffs, the 600 puffs is based on a 2 second puff, mine are more like 4 seconds. I’m wondering if the above comments are similar. Anyway, I’m still on my 1st pod, and no burnt taste yet, plenty of cloud exhale. The Elf Bar 600 disposables, however, only lasted me 1 day, I bought the Elfa because i was convinced the battery was dying before the juice ran out. The manufacturer says the Elfa fully charged should last for 1 and a half pods, with the same 5000mAh battery and 2ml juice as the Elf Bar disposables, I’m not sure how that magic works, but Chinese English is a bit of guess work at best.
I’ve had mine for about three days and omg the taste is the same as a disposable which I love. I managed to give up roll ups too while the elf bar disposables too. I have half a bag of them and do not know where to recycle them. I will not chuck them in the bin. I haven’t had to charge mine yet as I’m really trying to stop the habit of dragging to hard lol.
I’m not in agreement with this. I used to buy the elf bar 600, and though it would only last 24hrs for me, these are not good. I’ve been using them for around 2 weeks now. I’m lucky if they last even 12hrs. Last night I replaced the pod. I slept 5-6 hours and within 2 hours it was gone. Another really bad thing with these, is the disgusting burnt taste. It still keeps vaping but is completely uninhalable. It seems to do this towards the end. I made sure it was nothing to do with the charger, and always charged without the pod, and left it to cool down. But after it starts spluttering juice, I’d remove the pod and recharge. This didn’t help and later I’d reconnect the pod and then it would continue to splutter and then taste burnt. Never had this with the disposable ones, so I’m thinking of going back to those. I’m gutted I bothered with these. I thought I’d save money with the pods being 2 for £5, and not wasting batteries with it being rechargeable, but I think it’s cost me the same, if not more. Definitely a thumbs down from me.
Love the device, love the flavours but agree with above, lucky if it lasts 300 puffs. Going through a pod a day when a normal disposable 600 puff elf bar lasts me 2 to 3 days
System isn’t good definitely get the Elf Mate P500 instead I think it’s called it’s a much better system as the pods have their own little coil and tank of liquid that you can see go down as you use it the Elfa Bar pods use the same system as the 600 puff disposable Elf Bars and there is no indication of when there is no liquid left and you take a puff and boom nasty burnt cotton taste
The pods are pathetic don’t last 300 puffs
yeah i agree. just bought my fist one and they last 50% less that the basic disposables.
