The Dovpo Topside Dual is a heavy dual battery 200w squonk mod with unique top fill and comes with a couple of 10ml squonk bottles.
The Topside Dual was designed by The Vapor Chronicles (TVC) and manufactured by Shenzhen DovPo Technology Co Ltd, who hail from China. DovPo have bought us devices like the original Topside 21700 squonk (also designed by TVC), MVV SE, Trigger, Nickel and Vee.
Plus early mods such as the E-LVT and the E-Mech V2 Transformer, both of which were good mods for their time.
So what do we think of the Topside Dual squonker? Let’s dive down and have a detailed look at it! Don’t know what squonking is take a look here
This product was sent to us for the purpose of review. As always my thoughts and views are my own after a considerable testing period.

Design and Build Quality
The Topside Dual Squonk Mod
The kit comes displayed in a card box with a paper sleeve and includes a spare 10ml bottle and cage as well as a micro USB cable. A little baggy of spares that usually comes with it was missing from my kit!
The Dovpo Topside dual is made of a zinc alloy and has a very robust solid feel to it! It measures 88.5mm by 54mm and will hold 22-28mm RDA’s comfortably. It is a heavy mod though so may not be everyone’s cup of char.
The overall design is very well done and the manufacturing quality is top notch.
Starting from the top down
The device has a stainless steel 510 connection with very well turned threading and a gold plated static squonk connection pin with minimal printed branding. The top of the device is held in position by 4 hatch screws.
Fill port and cap
The cap is made of SS with knurling around it so it is easy to grip when removing for filling. the cap has a magnet in the centre of the top the cap and the assembly is spring loaded.Rubber feet slide into the fill port slots; you have to align the feet to push down on the cap to screw into position. The top fill port has 2 large kidney shaped fill spaces that are part of the bottle cage and made of aluminium.
Backside of the device
The back features an overly large squonk space which is great for me and my large thumbs.
Left side
If you look at the left side you have a micro USB port, you will be able to update the firmware as well as charge your batteries (I recommend charging with an external charger).
Workface
The OLED display is 0.96in and has all the normal info available, even with my old eyes the screen is bright and the font is large (no reading glasses needed). You have a plastic fire button with a plastic raised ring that helps to stop any liquid dripping down and entering the fire button. The adjustment buttons are also plastic and the housing is held to the body by 2 SS hatch screws. The mod will round robin from 5W to 200w in 5 watt increments until 100w then in 1w increments all the way to 200w.The mod will fire all the standard wire types in power and temperature control.
Base
The battery door fitment is screwed into the body of the mod, the door is opened with a push and flip, you have all the normal info printed on to the door, you will see a little magnet (more about what this for later). Inside of the door you will see the magnet is screwed to the door! Printed are your battery orientation marks in white +A –B, all the connection points are gold plated.
The idea of the magnet is so that you will not lose the fill port cap while filling the bottle. I know some may not agree with me, but having used the device now for over 2 weeks, I personally I feel it’s a silly idea.
Bottles/Cage
The squonk bottles are made of silicone, the one installed is grey. To remove the installed 10ml bottle from the mod for cleaning or replacement open the battery door and use your nail to slide the plastic cage out,The kit includes a spare white bottle and cage with a pull off cap; so it’s easy to carry around a full spare bottle ready to go.
Note – we have seen similar cage design with the Aspire Feedlink, although I happen to think this one is better executed with the top fill included.
To remove the silicone bottle from the cage/s you have 2 small hatch screws that have to be removed. Simply lift off the fill port section and remove the bottle. You will note that the squonk straw is attached to the fill port section, when loaded correctly into the mod the juice hole matches up to a fitment tube inside the mod.
Shape and weight
Without batteries the device is quite heavy; with batteries and an RDA it’s like a bloody paperweight, ridiculously heavy!
The shape of the mod loosely reminds me of a 3 leafed clover and despite the weight it’s rather comfortable to hold in the hand for an extended period of time.
Basic Quick Start Guide
Tip: When filling the bottle through the top fill port don’t overfill as displacement will push liquid out the fill port and could cause leaking. Also try not to tip the Topside Dual to one side while screwing the cap back on.
- Insert your two batteries following the orientation guide
- Unscrew the fill port cap and fill with e-liquid
- Align the rubber feet to the liquid slots, push down screw the cap back into position
- Screw on an RDA with a BF pin attached
Done! You’re now ready to squonk away and enjoy your new mod.
Menu and other attributes
- 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and off
- Fire + down to enter menu you will see options for – Power, Volts, Ni, Ti, SS, TCR, Stats (puff count controls)l Exit
- Fire + up to adjust wattage in TC mode
- Up + down to lock adjustment buttons (the mod can still be fired)
- Turning on and off the stealth function, with the adjust buttons locked press the up button x3
- Fire x3 will lock the fire button
How Does the Dovpo Topside Dual Perform?
For this review I have filled the 10ml bottle with Yami Vapor “Juusu”, I am using my Pulse 24 RDA with 0.14Ω SS dual coils.
Watts/Volts
Using the mod as a wattage/voltage device (as Mary Poppins would say) it’s practically perfect in every way LOL.
Seriously the wattage goes to 200w and the Volts even out at 12V, for me personally 60 to 80w produces enough warmth to keep me happy.
Temp Control
Temp control was a little disappointing; while using my usual SS testing mode, 420f and 60w.
I found that the device didn’t produce the nice warm vape I have come to expect from using these setting with other devices, the resulting vape was too cool, I had to bung the TC up to 480f and the wattage up to 80w to get the warmth I felt equal to that of 60w in power mode.
Squonking
The action is great; I have suffered with no leaking or blockages with the internal structure. The liquid flows through both pins to the cotton without a problem, with any squonk mod these days I tend to press the bottle slowly so I don’t flood the cotton and cause a leak through the airflow of my RDA.
Bottles/Cages
The top fill with this mod has got to be the easiest way to fill a squonk bottle I have ever seen, no mess no fuss!
Keeping an eye on the liquid is difficult as the top and bottom of the mod case obstructs my view.
I was impressed by the Aspire Feedlink cages but boy was that a messy way of filling! Brian (TVC) has refined the system by adding the top fill making this a great way to use the device. The assembly is also easy to remove from the mod although I will admit removing the bottle from the cage is a pain, good eyesight is needed for the screws as they are so small.
Battery life
Using 2 Samsung 30q 18650 batteries, I averaged 4hrs of vape time at 60w.
Pros
- Good build quality
- Unique design
- Excellent top-fill system
- No button rattle
- Good power mode performance
- Easy to read display
Cons
- No preheat options or watt curve mode
- Temp control could be better
- Don’t over fill or tip putting the cap on
Final Review Verdict
Overall, Dovpo have done a good job with this squonk mod. It’s a good performer in power mode although TC could do with a little work!
I really like the fill method, it works well and makes filling faster and less messy. The mod is not fancy and might be a bit heavy for some. If you don’t use temp control and don’t mind the weight, this mod is a good option.
Would I buy the Dovpo Topside Dual Squonk again due to theft or damage? Yes I’d consider it.
Hi, I have the topside dual but after a few months the base battery latch has become lose and doesn’t stay closed unless I use a tape or elastic band to hold it in place. At first it kept popping open but now it just doesn’t stay closed anymore. Customer service don’t reply at all. Any ideas? A replacement base would do it but how do I get one? Thanks
I have the Topside Dual & to be fair I don’t consider the lack of preheat to be a negative. The device ramps up so quickly that I don’t think it’s required. All in all though, a good review.
Hey Mark thanks for your comment and your compliment
the reason I included the Con of no preheat or wattage curve was that some people do look for these
not that I think they are necessary and with the experience I now have with this mod they are totally irrelevant
cheers
